    Getting an iOptron CEM or GEM mount in the USA is getting difficult. Most dealers are out of stock and with no expected date when they will get inventory from iOptron.

    What's the cheapest star tracker (for a DSLR) one can buy in India any idea? And is there a better portal/shop than Tejraj?
    I'm tired of taking thousands of exposures because I have to take them untracked. Would really appreciate your suggestions or advice.

    • @astro_by_sona
      @astro_by_sona  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Vedant, all star trackers are in the range of 30-40k, from Tejraj you can buy iOptron, from C Sky Scientific India you can buy Skywatcher star adventure. There are few other dealers like Galileo, Modern telescopes etc do check all your options and bargain a bit then buy which suits your budget 🙌🏻 Hope this helps😊👍🏻

    I wish mine would have come in a wooden crate... I got the hard case option, and it didn't survive shipping too well. In the process of trying to work something out with High Point Scientific and IOptron. Been a week now, High Point says they are waiting to hear from IOptron, fingers crossed I guess.

    In cem40 is ipolar required for tracking any object or just put the lat long and gmt can do the tracking properly ?

    • @astro_by_sona
      @astro_by_sona  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Anupam, ipolar is an aid for polar alignment, all equatorial mounts need to be polar aligned in order to track accurately. Just putting the coordinates doesn’t work! Hope this helps. Clear Skies!

    • @AstroRoof
      @AstroRoof 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@astro_by_sona actually one of my friend purchased an ioptron cem 40 . He is just putting lat, long and gmt . Not doing any polar adjustment. He is saying through this method he is tracking a object upto 2 hours ... I m confused

    • @astro_by_sona
      @astro_by_sona  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AstroRoof well you must visit him and see for yourself 👍🏻 is he just using for visual astronomy?

    • @AstroRoof
      @AstroRoof 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes.. till now he is using for observation only ... but he will try for photigraph in near future

    • @astro_by_sona
      @astro_by_sona  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AstroRoof well that piece of information makes sense, however for astrophotography polar alignment is crucial. Cem40 has an inbuilt ipolar which is super easy to use. Hope this helps.

    Hi, new subscriber from bangalore. Congrats-nice mount. Just got a cem70g from tejraj and i just finished assembling it. Does this mount have iguider? Do you have any suggestion or video to show how to use iguider and phd2. Surprisingly not one video is present. Would be really helpful if you put a video. Also you mentioned about ipolar below, can you pls show how to do two star alignment - i have occlusion on my north side and will be helpful if i want to use some other star(s). Thank you very much. Two star alignment and polar alignment are two different things. Polar alignment is basically getting the mount parallel to the axis of earth's rotation and star alignment is just for increasing the accuracy of the goto function

      You could use the polar alignment procedure in the hand controller. It is a type of drift alignment and it Is more accurate than doing it with a polar scope.

    Hi there. I too have that exact CEM40 (see my channel). I had it's power switch break down on me. So the mount is back at the shop where I bought it. Now I have an extra CEM40 at home at it is a newer model. Thicker (but shorter) CW shaft, different position of the connections, different dovetail saddle, a 5kg CW.
    I am researching all differences of released versions, so if any of the viewers have some info for me, come find my details on my channels about section and send me a message. 🙏
