Ikr!! Astrid and Lagertha have the most tragic romance in the whole series. Astrid loved the shit outta Lagertha but Lagertha still had Ragnar in her heart and wasn’t ready to let herself fully love another person like that again, tho she cared about Astrid more then she’d admit even to herself. After Ragnar’s visit she’s definitely shook and just won’t shut up about ‘her beloved Ragnar’ and you could see that bothered Astrid, she even slept with Bjorn trying to get Lagertha’s attention. Then she gets kidnapped by king Harald and Lagertha is left in Kattegat thinking she was betrayed once again. Poor Astrid is strayed in another land surrounded by enemies and she agrees to marry Harald trying to make the best out of a shitty situation but she freaking thinks about Lagertha at the altar. She closes her eyes and all she sees is Lagertha. She betrays Harald to warn Lagertha about the attack risking her life, she gets fucking gang raped to send Lagertha that message. They only meet again at the battlefield, on opposite sides, with Astrid married to Lagertha’s enemy, the guy who kidnapped her, pregnant, possibly of her rapists. And in the end she asks Lagertha to kill her and makes her do it. It’s SO FUCKING SAD. SO FUCKING TRAGIC.. I hope they meet again in Valhalla.

Like she promised, just not the way she thought she would. In all the lesbian trope deaths we've seen, this one actually makes sense and was so amazingly done.
Elaine Lotcpeich Astrid and Lagertha have been together for over 7 years after the time jump in 4x11. Lagertha trained Astrid and killed Ivar's mother (her ex-husbands wife) to secure the throne and rule Kattegat. Ivar then promised to kill her, to which Astrid promised she'd protect her. Both of them take other lovers but remain together. They're amazingly laid back about this and the trust and love never really wavers. Astrid is kidnapped by King Harald of Norway in season 5 and Lagertha mourns her. Astrid tries to have a message delivered to Lagertha and is raped in the process. She marries Harald, thinking she will be able to reunite with Lagertha, becomes pregnant, but still thinks she can return to her, when Harald and Ivar lose the war. As she realizes that they won't lose she seeks Lagertha out on the battlefield and lets herself be killed, not wanting the child and not wanting to see Lagertha die and betraying her for real this time. Lagertha rages on, loses the battle and Astrid's death eventually breaks her, which fulfills the prophecy that one of Ragnar's (her ex-husband) sons would kill her. It's an incredible thought out story and very tragic and I love it to death.

I didn´t care much about Astrid last season, but this season (in general, this season is REEEEALLY good so far in my opinion), I just couldn´t take my eyes of her in every moment she was on screen. If Lagertha dies, there won´t be much left for me to watch.
