As an aside, I want to mention that Will Carruthers' recent book 'Playing the Bass with Three Left Hands' about his time in Spacemen 3 is a great read!
I saw them in Reading in the UK After dark club around this time. Remember just getting lost in the wonderful sounds. Eyes closed hair, long and thick in those days, in full free flowing shakedown, shakeabout. When I finally came back it was all reverb and distortion from the guitars left resting against the speakers. Marvelous time

Never thought there'd be such a good recording of spacemen 3, Or that Sonic would do the audience interaction "Spacemen 3, the athletes of rock" - was particularly funny
the first song they play is called Bo's Web if anyone is wondering. you can get it on the great pop supplement 7" that also features a rare track by MGMT as well as an instrumental demo of "Why Couldn't I See"
@Slater Slater I think Jason is playing two guitars. The telecaster with the "3" from the cover of Perfect Prescription and another blonde Telecaster with black pickguard.
Omfg, I would have given anything to see this band live, with a head full of drugs. They’re just absolutely incredible. And so is Sonic Boom himself. Just so ahead of his time.
I assume it was Rosco on drums at the time? Many thanks for this upload. Just finished the book "A-Side: are tour dreams at night 1985 sizes too big?" excellent book for any SP3 fan like me. Will read Will's book next
I would sell my kidneys to be at this concert. Fucking unbelievable. Saw Spiritualized in 2012 do 'Cop Shoot Cop...' which was amazing but not quite 'Suicide'!
Never got to see the amazing lineup have seen them in their different guises and going to my 50th spiritualized concert at the Barbican on Monday, this is amazing what I'd trade to have seen them, but this is as good as it's gonna get so be thankful thank you mr cameraman. P.S Searches used to be so rigid before cameras on phones how did you get that through security ?
Well, in the description the uploader mentions they were also the promoter for this gig. It was pretty easy to get cameras into your own gig back then ;-)
Sir Late Didn't see the uploader so doh!!!! Was hoping for a dramatic story about how they had to get a100mm lens and camera hidden in their prison pocket but heh at least there was a camera there, suppose my dreams are definitely 3 sizes too big.
I don’t know I think when you listen to spacemen 3 that their stated influences of the stooges, vu, 13th floor elevators, suicide, etc. it’s pretty clear how they got their sound. And they are very upfront about their influences and did a lot of covers. I don’t think Jesus and Mary chain sound anything like them tbh

Have just finished it. Fantastic and hilariously funny.
Love that book. A lot of great laughs.
In '91 one I was spaced out traveling Colombia with Spacemen 3 on my walkman. Thanks for sharing. One love.

Holy Jesus. Thank you for this upload! 🖤
Really wish more live footage of them existed, especially from their earlier days. Seems like '89 is the only year with any video.
Here’s a gig from 1986! Amazing… they were so young! th-cam.com/video/Tx_VsYu96a4/w-d-xo.html
Losing touch with my mind and 235 are the first songs i ever learned on guitar, and by ear.
One of my most favourite bands ever. Awesome.
Unique & Unusual... Love it!!! Thank you very much SPACEMEN 3 and to the uploader of this gem...!!! 🔥💪🏼♥️

Was there! With some folks we went to Holland (from Greece) to see them. Thanks for the upload
Gr8 footage of sonic with his 12 string vox electric, and Jason with his thinline.
@Slater Slater I think Jason is playing two guitars. The telecaster with the "3" from the cover of Perfect Prescription and another blonde Telecaster with black pickguard.
So cool to get a front seat at this show. Amazing footage: thanks!
so grateful for this upload
fucking love that jason as singer is literally sitting down
Big thanks for this upload!
Amazing, thanks!
There should be 1B thumbs for this. Someone stole all my S3 albums. I always wonder where they are now. I hope they are still played.
They're not but I do have some of the coolest ashtrays around.
Same man, bummer. I had perfect prescription and playing with fire and have no idea where they went, I miss them
amazing stuff! on of my favorite bands ever and forever...
Great band!
Omfg, I would have given anything to see this band live, with a head full of drugs. They’re just absolutely incredible. And so is Sonic Boom himself. Just so ahead of his time.

good good, this is very good. Guess it´s the famous VHS that was rolling somewhere. Thanks.
Matías Bosch
Right!
The transition between Che and Suicide is the greatest musical moment and nobody can change my mind.
Killer!
this is out of control
nah man that was the beauty of the spacemen, controlled chaos.
Oooft, flashback, flashback. Cheers for the upload but
Great film

Sailor
Kurt Moss Which year? I saw him in san francisco in 1993...same kind of show

I prefer this over 20, 25 years of rap and pop and the dominant form of music in our culture
Good shit.
Set list?

Sir Late P.S. Sarcasm rules !!!!!!
Worse when you got mates who saw them, would be bliss!!✌️
If Bobby Gillespie and his band played there would it be a Willem Scream?
