I used to work at Blk 531 Hong Lim Complex for over 2 yrs from 1997. Mainly had my lunch at Hong Lim or Maxwell. I've had eaten at the stalls of the hawkers interviewed in this video. At that time, quite a number of stalls were operated by elderly people. Only ate twice at the curry chicken noodles stall cuz the queue was slow moving but I have to say I liked the gravy which somehow tasted light and flavourful. My favourites were the mutton soup stall operated by an elderly Chinese couple and another stall that sold fish meat lor bee hoon. Wondering if they are still in operation or not.
