  • This bank beetle is perfect to be used as a hopper dropper rig! It’s very buoyant to support heavy nymphs, highly visible, and small enough to land subtly on the water. So, you don’t spook those trout! It’s one of my favorite summer-fall patterns when terrestrials are out. I use it for any trout species but mostly for brook trout or smaller fish.       Next time you see something shiny and you want it, look for the string. Metaphorical string... everything has a string.

    One thing i found about hoppers/dries is that red works in spring, green works in summer, and orange works in the fall. In my area at least.

    I make this with just plain black foam and the coat it with glitter white nail polish from the dollar store, works great for carp and trout

      I don't currently but might one day. I've always wanted to get into making hard baits. Looks like fun and the painting process seems right up my alley.

    This might be a dumb question but whenever I use thin thread like that I always break it no matter what. I have to manually unspool it and keep barely any tension on it. how do you use thin thread so easily?

    Do lake trout come out of the deep during winter in warmer areas?

      They do in the Fall for the spawn and into the winter when the lakes temperature decreases I've got them in about 5 feet of water before

      @@gmailzr629 Yes they are actually their own distinct species, and the largest freshwater char. You sometimes find them in rivers but those are more rare cases when food, temperature, and size of the river permits it. Also, in general fish will grow as larger as the environment permits. So you'll tend to find larger fish in lakes over rivers

    I have a question, do you honestly think that all this detail really matters, I had a friend that would just stick literally anything relatively shinny on the hook and catch like 10-12 trout an hour

      No sometimes it can but often times simple is better. I just enjoy tying
