During the summer, after arriving in Tirano with the Bernina Express coming from Chur, it is possible to continue towards Lugano with a red bus of the Rhaetian railway, also called BERNINA EXPRESS. Same thing in the opposite direction. It is included in the price of the Eurrail pass, Interrail pass, Swiss Travel Pass and similar. Only seat reservation, mandatory, is not included. The Tirano railway station of the Rhaetian railway, although it is in Italy, is considered Swiss territory, therefore Swiss VAT applies to tickets, souvenirs etc. sold at the counter. Luggage shipped from Switzerland to Tirano is not subject to customs declaration.

The right side of the train are the best seats for viewing when traveling in the Zermatt to St Moritz direction. So great choice. I am unable to remember the seat numbers however the carriage is positioned at the back of the train and the bar is at the end of the carriage. So if you are able to view an outline of the carriage online the best seats are to the right with the bar at your back. Or looking toward the bar - the seats to your left (as you enter the carriage).

We are planning to take the glacier express in a few weeks via the excellence class! Does the cost cover ALL alcohol? Can we go to the bar and get a cocktail as included in the price or so we have to pay extra?

There is no smoking on the train. You are able to disembark occasionally to smoke. But there is a ban on the train.
