- Feed me us all rat poison after No. 5 Ole Miss clinically dismantled Wake Forest, 40-6, on Saturday.
The Rebels improved to 3-0 and now return home for back-to-back games, including their SEC opener against Kentucky September 28.
We’re more encouraged today on Talk of Champions than we were going into Wake Forest. The Rebels showed they can win ugly. And when their ugly is 40-6? And on the road and against a fellow Power 5 team for the first time this season?
The defense, warts and all, still hasn’t allowed a touchdown, and Ole Miss has played three games. The last time the Rebels did that? All the way back in 1961.
Impressive. Ole Miss is making it look like the 2008 Egg Bowl (ie, Wesley Carroll’s nightmare) every week for opposing quarterbacks.
Ole Miss has never had this caliber of defense at all three levels. The Rebels have an argument for college football’s best team, especially after Kentucky scared Georgia and Quinn Ewers had to exit Texas’ win over UTSA. Does Ohio State have the quarterback play to match the nation’s best skill group?

I went to my first game at the age of 2 with Archie Manning as QB. That’s 5 decades of Ole Miss football (for those who are counting,) and this is the best Ole Miss team we’ve ever had: higher talent level, more depth. We’ve never had a complete team until now.
I still worry about injuries just because I don’t want to see them hurt, not because I’m concerned with who steps in behind them.
P.S. I call Jaxson an honorary Manning and I’ve never done that before either. He’s the complete package. ❤ my dirtbag QB!!
IMO Bentley is under “load management protocol”. It’s a long season boys.

I have thought the same. No need to throw him out there against opponents we know we’re going to beat and risk him not being available for SEC play.
Archie did move like that. Archie had the rushing record for a QB in the SEC for a long time.
Considering what happened with Georgia Saturday, I think Ole Miss would need to curb stomp Kentucky. It would look better for Ole Miss to separate itself from Georgia struggling to defeat Kentucky. Could also help Darts Heisman odds.
I don’t think anyone in the country beats Georgia bad enough to separate themselves. I think Georgia is absolutely able to lose a game and someone, hopefully us, can probably win by two scores but I think the second score would be in the final minutes to seal the win if it was to happen
@@michaelroberts6534 Georgia could lose a game. Idk who will defeat them though. Georgia will be locked when they play ole miss and other top 10 teams.
I think Georgia showed they don’t have the caliber of offense to be the best team in the country. Texas is the one to aim for, and the way Jaxson Dart and the defense are playing, it should be one of the best games of the century when they meet.

Definitely sloppy but im with you, im not worried i feel very good about this Ole Miss team even after that ugly game. WF definitely gave us some stuff to work on this week. And we definitely need to play cleaner and avoid some of those penalties but im riding high on these Rebs… And i do believe we will see more of Bentley later this season. But 🤷♂️
Two main issues. The secondary problems and the D line not being able to get to, or even pressure, the quarterback.
We had 5 sacks this game and I don’t know how many TFL’s
It feels like that because we’re expecting them to sack every time the QB drops back and I’d like to see umannielein getting more sacks but we are sacking a good bit. Lots of pressure tho

Red zone defense was very good. Wake Forest could have had a couple more field goals but Ole Miss scoring three quick TDs in the 1st quarter forced WF to forego field goals later in the game.

They look good but I still want to see them against a good SEC opponent because unless I heard wrong, they lost RB1 and RB2. (Michigan isn’t 2023 Michigan, so I don’t count them.)
