I would like to know about the compatibility of CPS in the Windows7 Home Premium, the software has already installed on my PC but i don't know if this software or the DM 1701 driver has built to work on my Operating System winthout any errors, now i am just waiting arriving the cable from Aliexpress for to start the instalation.
@@HamRadio2 See this video I linked below around 0:58. The DM-1702 now has APRS (digital only). It looks like it was available after the firmware update he references. Yes, I have the AnyTone AT-D878 Plus. I was hoping up to pick up a cheap radio capable of APRS to supplement it. th-cam.com/video/19li7oWV6Ys/w-d-xo.html
ANY DMR radio can do digital-only APRS if you know how to set it up. The TYT DMR rigs have been doing this for a long time. This is a work-around and it doesn't mean the radio is "APRS capable" Being APRS capable means it will TX on analog into an iGate and be useful if you are not on digital.
Noticed you're local. Would you be willing to share a cqodeplug for a baofeng dm 1702? Inputting all the information manually sucks and takes waaaaaay too long lol
Jason, great video! However, down here in Corpus Christi, Texas we do not have any DMR repeaters that I am aware of. So I have a couple of DMR Hotspots I use. One is the SkyBridge from BridgeCom and the other is a TGIF Jr. Hotspot. I really get confused trying to remember all of the things that need to be inputted into the CPS AND the order in which they have to be done before you write it to my radio. My question is do you or any of your followers have a simple step by step document in either a PDF or Word format that show how to input these items when I am either making up my own code plug or even importing one from someone else? I have purchased the Super Code Plug from BridgeCom, but still I am not quite sure things are in the CPS correctly. I have also purchased RTS Systems Programming software for all of my handhelds and mobile radios. Any guidance or input from you or others would be extremely grateful! Blessings and 73, Mark W5HSJ.
There are indeed a couple of DMR repeaters in the Corpus area, one of them is mine. You should check DMRtexas.net for info. I do not have any documents for creating a codeplug, no. I do have several videos on this channel RT Systems doesn't support DMR radios, last I knew, so that isn't going to help you with anything.
@@billbeam8069 well every Windows box is different and Windows can be quirky. Like I said, I am pretty sure my computer read it. You can contact the place where you bought it and inquire about a driver.
I get that we must use 390 software to expose the import/export functions, but my 380 codeplug will not open in the 390 software, I downloaded from TYT.
I tried this, the problem is since I don't have an md 380 for the programming software to read, it won't let me export the contacts in the code plug into a csv file. Is there another way?
I need help! Ordered the 1701 and added a codeplug which caused the radio to display the text in what looks like lines of QR codes. Like an idiot, I forgot to read the radio before I wrote the codeplug to the radio. Your thoughts, input, advice?
@Ham Radio 2.0 how can I get it back to how it was before the update?? I made sure it was on dfu mode and still got the same results as the guy who asked the question. Thenx.
I have had the 1701 for about a month and a half now and I can say it’s pretty good for a $100 dmr. My only disappointment is the lack of custom Firmware compatible with this specific radio.
you wouldn't happen to know where i can get the newest firmware do you? mine came with 2.006 but their website only has 2.003 :( I want to start over, I used the opengd77 firmware and like it, but there is bugs
Was really hoping this video explained how to program the DM-1701 but unfortunately the video title is misleading. There needs to be a video that is strictly dedicated to programming the 1701 from scratch. Also need to talk about the required software and connector cable
Actually the codeplug itself us much more needed than HowTo. But all requests return links to videos, huh. Would you PLEASE give us file to download? In the name of Holy CEPT all for all HAM gods glory?
Actually..... The How To is more important because it teaches you how to program the radio yourself and be self reliant, rather than depending on someone else. But yes...I am working on a fix for the link to the codeplug. The website where I had it hosted got deleted by my web host somehow
As far as I can tell there is ZERO support for the Apple/Mac platform with these radios. Am I wrong? Looks like if you're the other 50% of the planet, that doesn't use a Windows based computer, you're just screwed... Go with another brand of radio.
Thanks, your video helped me figure out a problem I was having. A weeks' worth of cussing at this radio and losing my mind.
Glad it helped.
WoW! I wish I knew this a month ago, could have saved lots of hours. Great job thanks.
Thanks

Thanks for video, have or will you try same with 6×2 or Anytone ht?
Not really a need to with that radio - you can use the N0GSG Contact Manager to import/export to many different models, including the 6X2.
@@HamRadio2 ok thanks!!
thank you very much that is going save me so much time trying to program my one.
Yep, great - that was the hope!
Import/export is a God send. Can the 1701 record DMR traffic? Thx
I have not seen a record feature, no.
Great channel 👍 looking forward to the next podcast.
Thanks!
@@HamRadio2 Just want to thank you and Frank for answering rudimentary questions without hesitation.
That's alot faster then the usual typing it all in. Thanks for the sharing this tip Jason! 73
You're welcome!
Is the DM-1701 or DB-1702 APRS capable? The 1702 has GPS, which leads me to believe it's primarily s software limitation if it doesn't support APRS.
No Baofeng radios are APRS capable at this time. Anytone has the only APRS capable radio from China right now.

How did you find a usb driver to hook the radio to your computer
If memory serves, Windows read the driver correctly
@@HamRadio2 it doesn't. Windows recognized the radio, but doesn't have a driver dir it

ive been struggling for days! i followed all instructions, says write succefull, but nothing on the radio

my sir how to you reset this dm 1701? mine is all messedup says when starting radio unprogammed. im newb lol
Unprogrammed means you don't have a channel programmed in that slot in the Zone you are using.

programmed this radio and now I can't read the screen it's all jibberish. Any idea how to fix?

good job

I could merge, sort and de-dup the channels in a spreadsheet. Right? Then import that.
Yes, but save them in CSV format from the spreadsheet
