ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a furry, wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. The Tanners offer him a home and give him the nickname ALF, short for “Alien Life Form.” Created by Tom Patchett (The Carol Burnett Show) and Paul Fusco (who also performed as ALF), the half-hour sitcom rose to popularity in the late 1980s, cementing itself in the pop culture zeitgeist.

This show ended WAY sooner than it should’ve for two reasons First the cast agreed to be a show starring a puppet then got jealous because they were in a show that starred a puppet then the writers wrote themselves into a corner they couldn’t get out of💯💀
The cast were getting increasingly frustrated with up to 20-hour days thanks to the extensive puppetry required.
The cliffhanger was designed in part by the trend of shows ending seasons with cliffhangers as hooks. The lack of resolution makes ALF's finally utterly grim, the moment anyone rewatched the premiere episode.

There are stories about Max Wright-a good stage actor--being very unhappy towards the end of the series, despite its popularity. But he still did his job well; his interactions with the cast (and especially ALF) were flawless. Thank you, to everyone on the show, in front of and behind the camera.

I forgot that their last name was Tanner just like the Tanners of Full House...now thinking about it in retrospect they should've done a crossover episode where Alf visits the Tanners in Full House and asks if they were related to his Tanner family
.it would've made a cool episode Alf featured on a full House episode... And i think that makes a good 80s tv sitcom trivia question that most people might not even think of or would be knowledgeable about is what two 80s tv shows both shared the same last name in their family
