👋 Gary! Best wishes for a Happy 2025 to you and your family. 🎉 Both of your shawls are beautiful. The diamond pattern is so intricate. Patience is one of your virtues. 😍 Take care and stay safe...
Love Hank’s shawl. The yarn is so yummy. You know, if you never bought another pattern, you could definitely satisfy your love of crochet with Crystal of Bag O Day’s tutorials! Your work is lovely! The tassels really take it to the next level!
Hi, Gary! I got some happy mail, too Several yarns, including a SQ of Snefnug, and also Noro Malvinas creme & Haunui light brown for a hat and cowl. I won a skein from the Yarn Randomizer's channel, which is so cool! Plus I got a Re:Design Project 10 case which is so beautifully made. Perfect for traveling with a medium-sized project. I can recommend Brooklyn Tweed's new book of knit and crochet blanket patterns. Not all the patterns are new, now in book form with great charts and details for making a variety of sizes. I got it from the public library, but may need a personal copy. Your Painted project is looking great.
Hi Gary! The shawl on Hank is just beautiful! Can’t wait to see the painting diamonds shawl finished…I know it’s gonna be spectacular!! I stayed at home on New Year’s Eve & knit & caught up on my favourite shows/podcasts! Wishing you & Chad the happiest & healthiest 2025 & beyond❤
Hi Lori - thanks for the kind words. The Painting Diamonds is such a slow growing project. I'm loving it, but I have to put it down and work on something in between sessions.
Your projects r beautiful. You have a gift of pairing the right color yarn to the projects! Sometimes I have a challenge doing this. New Years Eve was quiet for me and thats how I like it! Lol Happy 2025! Hope to continue following ur channel for many years to come!
Your shawl came out beautiful I love the border! Anything by Stephen West is gorgeous I wish he did crochet patterns since I don’t knit but looking forward to your finished project..can’t wait to see what u have in store for us in 2025…..my party days are long over if I’m up at midnight I prob woke up to turn off the tv or I’m binge watching a show on tv!! Happy new year!!!
Good decision to change yarns in the shawl. One needs to see the colours and you need a simple way to block it out. Quiet times for NYE. We are going to see Jimmy Carr and Jim Jeffries on the 3rd. On the edge comedy. I'm joining in the year long monthly MAK with Carrie Penny at Happy Crafty Homemaker so I need to get my skeins into cakes for tomorrow's cast on. HNY everyone 🎉 see you in 2025.
Hi Gary, beautiful shawl, I bet those tassels took some time 😊 New years Eve we don't go out, we stay home and watch something on tv but I like to watch the London midnight fireworks, we record them every year too. Not sure what's happening with them tonight though as we have a storm coming in, i hope that doesn't spoil them. Happy New Year to you and Chad and Pixel, all the very best for 2025
That sounds like a wonderful way to ring in the New Year. I'm a bit of a home body as well when it comes to if I have a choice. I hope you did get to see the fireworks and the storm didn't stop the fun.
Love how you often go "off script" and add your own creativeness to patterns Gary. It's freeing if that makes any sense. Happy New Year to you, Chad and Pixel!
Hello Gary, and Happy New year all! I was able to get to Mary Maxim today in Paris, Ontario to pick up some of their Maximum Yarn to make ear warmers for donations so it was a good day, 😊
I always enjoy watching how you put yarns together for a project and how you switch gears when a yarn isn't quite right-- like the Alize. I have that yarn too and am waiting for the perfect project for it. Happy new year❤
Thanks, it's so much fun to play with colours. I'm sure you'll find the perfect project for your Alize yarn. I've got my eye on a crochet item using a big hook so there's no curling to worry about.
Hi Gary, I also made the beautiful Hyperfixated Shawl, but I was a bit frustrated with the weird angle of the bottom part due to lack of increases. It annoys me so much I never wear the shawl, which is a shame because it is very pretty made with Hobbii Teatime yarm, which I love very much. Watching your version of the shawl I decided to frog the bottom part and make increases on the sides and in the middle. It makes a big difference, much better! Best wishes by the way, love your channel.
Happy New Year, Gary! I'm not a tassel person, so excluding those I hope to (eventually) emulate or be inspired by your version of Crystal's beautiful shawl that looks like feathers hanging off! The West piece is gorgeous - I look forward to seeing the final product!
Good morning and HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE! I plan on learning how to MOSAIC CROCHET this year as well learn how to read patterns more proficiently... I also have 2 CALs I'm doing behind the scenes... one with my "sis" Michi and then one with Laura Twisting Stitches (it's a beginner mosaic blanket) I also would loooove to De-stash some of my yarn which I am in the process of doing and will be donating it to schools, women's shelters and assisted living facilities... I do hope you reach your goals this year but knowing you, you most definitely will!!! Lots of love and prayers for a wonderful 2025 to you and yours!
Hello there friend - thank you for sharing all your wishes over the new year! These are so inspiring to read, with many meaningful and selfless acts of kindness. Yay to your crafting endeavours too - these will open up so many new possibilities. Happy new year - sending much joy and peace.
I just started Ana Morais Soares afghan “Wintry Forest”. It’s overlay mosaic. I am addicted because of the yarn I’m using. One is a soft white and the other is a variegated green-yummy!
Beautiful shawl. I am finishing up my WIPs this next year, too many to count. I get inspiration from looking at your color work. Happy New Year to you, Chad and Pixel.
Happy New Year! I love the West patterns. I have West patterns but haven't mustered up the courage to try one. They kinda scare me but making socks did too at one time! I'll get there! I love chocolate and cherry and I bet those candy bars are delicious! I'll have to give Amazon a peek! I am alone so New Year's Eve will be me, my yarn and my hook.
Your New Year's Even sounded lovely and peaceful. I think you'll be surprised how well the West patterns are written - not at all to be afraid of. I know you can do it!
The shawl is beautiful. Happy New Year to you and Chad. Enjoy your evening. Don't really have any specific goals for my crocheting other than using more of my yarn and buying less.
Re your Aussie candy: it's called avaricious corporate Greedflation and Shrinkflation. All about taking from the blue collar and middle classes and giving to the super rich.
I've since heard the same thing about ways industry are cutting corners or downsizing to keep outward costs lower and maximize profits. It's frustrating all round.
I quit before i got out of the gate with mosaic😅😅. I did a pillow fron fiber fox . Thats it. I purchased a tunisian hook and never used it. Now this year ive sent for knitting needles 😂😂 hoping to try socks
This mood board has me boogeled😂. I dont think i have solids that match or scraps and definitely no minis so this will be a challenge but im going to try it 😊
Just getting ur videos so not familiar with ur channel Of course started with u because of BOD and Chrystal.was going to ask if the shawl was a gradient yarn but ur explanation sounded more complicated than my experience I knit and crochet and the more I listen to podcasts the more I realize I am not good atceither
Hi Diane - thanks for the comment and for letting me know how you found me. Crystal is fantastic. The cake I used on the Hyperfixated shawl was a gradient cake. I do go one a little bit so I can see how this might be confusing... I sometimes talk in circles.

Bag O Day is the master of shawls!! In case someone did not know!
I agree - Crystal is the best!
I love the shawl! Not a style I have seen in a while. A breath of fresh air for me.
I like to sit and crochet or knit while watching a movie with family. ❤

Hi there Vicki - I'm not a tassel person - but I did like how the tips of each point stay flat with a tassel.

Yummy tip there - thanks Karen!
Staying in and praying not alot of loud fireworks. My pups Hate it so its not fun
😢i did Crystal s cal shawl with a beautiful acrylic and blocked steamed it to no avail lol .its still beautiful butnot at its full potential
It can be disappointing when the blocking doesn’t quite turn out as hoped.
Shrink-flation is the term for items getting smaller but the price remains the same. Disgusting but its happening in the US for sure.
I'm now familiar with the term - I have read many in here that have said the same thing and it's all over.
