I heard this song for the first time a few weeks ago on Pandora. I wasn't paying attention at first and thought it was an ad, but I didn't seem to notice how unordinarily long it was because it sounded pretty good for an ad lol. Finally, I picked up my phone and checked what was going on and was surprised to see it was a song. At that point, the song began to say, "My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but my friends call me.. Giorgio," and I was blown away.
Major admiration for the interviewers for letting Giorgio explain the full story, sadly these days so many half wit podcasters interrupt their guests answers...
My introduction to this amazingly creative man was with his version of Metropolis in 1984/85. I am constantly in awe at just how much he has done over the years.
One of my favorite songs of all time. I love hearing his voice. I love that he has such respect and awe for "the boys" and I'm sure they feel the same way about him too :)
Giovanni: “Aren’t you going to take off your helmets?” Guy-Manuel and Thomas: “THIS IS THE WAY.” Giovanni: “...” Guy-Manuel and Thomas: “Nah jk, just don’t take pictures lol”
I listened to it on YT, with my cheap FiiO DAC-Amp and a 15 years old reference headphone made by Fostex for Denon. And the microphones differences are clearly present, each one having its own unique character, each one recording the voice differently, and it's a master move from Daft Punk. As many knows each microphone as its own character and giving voice (and instruments) a different presence and colour: there are no bad microphones (okay some are bad at everything), there's a pairing to be done, that work, or not. If I were to record me talking, I would probably go into the 40s/50s microphone that add warmth and also compression while still being sharp. And I love the love he gaves and he is still giving to Daft Punk. PS: "my name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everyones call me Giorgio" is probably from the 40s/50s microphone, not the recent one used on the phrase before.
Excellent interview, the microphones story: as an artist you are your bar, you set it and if you notice the difference then it's worth doing or at least trying

Is this interview a daft punk song?
probably will be one day...could call it legend by moroder or something
@@daft_mervy :(
You know how great artist you are, when you see a great composer like Giorgio, with what thrill he talks about collaboration with you.
Brilliant!
This guy is a musical genius, WAY ahead of his time!
To this day, I STILL listen to E=MC2, which I think is his best single yet.
Legend For A Reason... :) Love Him
3:55 the influence was so good they decided to engrave it in their work forever as a tribute
Giovanni: “Aren’t you going to take off your helmets?”
Guy-Manuel and Thomas: “THIS IS THE WAY.”
Giovanni: “...”
Guy-Manuel and Thomas: “Nah jk, just don’t take pictures lol”
That microphone story is one of the coolest i've ever heard
I have forever linked his voice with some epic grooves about to start any moment
This song is an amazing tribute to an amazing person. Giorgio is certainly the one who had the most influence of all in the history of music. And yet, he remains humble and passionate.
Wow, this is my first time seeing Giorgio. He basically looks exactly like how I thought he would, and that never happens, add 10 or so years to his age
I love this behind the scene work musicians do with their work.
Seriously, all this clip needs is the click to begin...
So we put a click on the 24 track
Can't wait for the Memory Tapes with this man 🔥🔥
