- I'm surprised that no one has posted this on TH-cam. It's from a TV programme called "The Colbert Report". I can't find the video so audio only. Hope you enjoy this. It's rare to hear JP sing this old song, as he seldom does it in concerts.
I've done my own cover of the song at • How Lucky - John Prine...
I remember seeing this when it aired and that’s when I found out about him.
What a gem of a musician.
I’m kinda dumbfounded that I didn’t hear his voice sooner.
What a man.
We’re all lucky.
I listened to a bunch of other version afterwards, but this one is still my favorite.
Thanks for sharing this. We had the fortune of seeing John with his Missing Years Band in Telluride Colorado. It was one of those memorable evenings you never let go of - John was having fun. As he’s went around introducing his band members, he turns with a shit eating grin and shouts “from Bloomington Indiana - Jason Wilber... Jason has discovered the Fountain of Youth but he ain’t sharing!”
God I miss John.
This is my favorite John Prine song ,and i don't know why.
cuz...thats why
How lucky you are
Its a really good song.
Gosh I miss him. Was really looking forward to a show in 2020. I'm still having trouble getting over the fact that he's gone.
Probably means you've got a good soul. We sure are blessed to have had him on the planet.
This is a wonderful compliation, Bruised Orange, Donald and Lydia, hello in there. Man you've really brought me back, Thanks so much
back again. gotta love this version.
One of my favourite jp songs
this clip is what made me love John Prine. May he rest in Peace. We love you
I keep coming back to this recording. Much thanks for putting this online!
God bless John Prine.
This here recording is like an oracle i keep coming back to. Fragile beautifull sweet.
This song has never stopped playing on the back of my head since I first time listened to it in The Colbert Report a few years ago. His voice has become cuter with age!
I cannot agree more! I searched ages for this recording. One Love
The missing years.every time I tune in.always something different.yes John prine a legend in your time.you are very much missed.thank you.
The onvergettable John Prine. Countless musiciens, poet lovers, philosophers and guitar singers from all over the world, feeded on him. He impressed me more than I will admit.
i thought that was Colbert's voice.....he and prine were exellent on the late show too and when Prine got sick and then died, Colbert had some great words and tributes
My all time favorite singer/songwriter...Rest in Peace, John Prine.
so happy i am not the only one loving this version soooo much! thanks!
Dam thought it was a video of whole song.....oh its playing it all now!...great version.
The Boss. The real one.
Love this song and he is grateful for all the joy in his life It shows!
Absolutely brilliant song. I remember replaying it over and over since I recorded every Colbert Report. Been looking for it since. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
I did as well. I come back to this audio a lot. My favorite version of his rendition of this song
Thanks.
I really like this one!
Get well soon, John. We need you out here.

It is a Song That I knew was there but about a week ago it just reached out and Grabbed and now is my Prine Go To Tune
This is fantastic! Love ya John
How come this gem isn't on any of his albums? Pure Prine Gold.
It's on Pink Cadillac and Live from Soundstage 1980.
Idk if you're still looking for the song but it appears on Spotify now after years of waiting
😍❤❤
Wow, this is not taking anything from Prine's songwriting but I'm
Not sure I'd be the fan than I am today if not for his vocal key change. I love him so much.
I have the complete performance. Would happily upload it / share it. But, YT seems unwilling to allow it.
I'm trying to learn to play this and would be grateful for an opportunity to view the complete performance.
Scott Frank I had this on TiVo, lost it and wish I could get it back! Awesome performance, so much fun to watch Any way I could get the video footage again? Thanks, Scott Allen
.
I would pay money to see him sing this song. Absolutely never gets old.
Bummer it should be up somewhere.... I wanna hear see listen
the best version of that song was him and Steve Goodman in the backyard
John Burns
that was john burns playing with prine in his yard back in 1980
.
Honor Mr. Prine...
Vote Biden in 2020 to remove "don't be afraid of covid" Trump.
Yep.. I don't like Biden but anyone could be better than Covrump
Prine liked trump you moron
@@shentonmichael509 No he hated Trump. His wife said openly about that on various occasions. He also dedicated "Caravan of Fools" to Trump in concerts
@@shentonmichael509 Even if you are correct, that has nothing to do with the fact that due to his mishandling/poor response to the pandemic Trump is responsible for the unnecessary loss of thousands of lives.
