- Minecraft Survival Guide 37 is all about easy automatic iron farm! In this episode we build our first iron farm in full survival and start raking in iron ingots and poppies for free! This iron farm is a new modification of my own design that works on Minecraft Java Edition but not Minecraft Bedrock Edition. This farm is super compact and fully automatic. The iron farm is also pretty easy to build to!!

sooo with an iron farm built, what should be the next farm??! 👀
go all out. ender dragon farm
bone????
An iron farm for bedrock please 🙏 😊
gold farm
Automatic crop farm?
For those having problems getting this to work. After carefully looking over my own build of this farm (and especially if you have a villager just standing there) I found the problem was with using slabs. If they are located in the top half of the glass block they will prevent the villager sleeping and moving freely. Switch them for full blocks sat on the top of the gaps in the glass. I did that and the 'stuck' villagers were running around and golems spawned immediately. As other have stated below, I also added a water layer below the lava to push the loot into a single hopper too, as I didn't have the iron to make all those hoppers.
hope this works with mine
ya wont work they just run to the head of the bed and stop
To save on hoppers you can put a water source in the bottom that leads to a corner that has a 1x1 lava source that burns the Iron golem. you only need 4 signs and at most 2 hoppers.
I built your last Iron farm, I'd suggest using a lightning rod, mine was running for about an hour before a thunderstorm hit while I was AFK and one of my villagers had turned into a witch, had to kill it and make a new staircase to get a new villager inside it.
Mud blocks and bricks are really great to use. I was thinking how cool it would be to have a mud stone brick variation when I was building my farmers house the other day. Great build and great episode!
we 100% need more mud variants! Its such a great block!!
What your comment was posted in 3 days??!!
I love the iron farm! Some QOL changes i've made to this process over time:
1. put a lever beside the iron door to the villager breeder, allowing the door to stay open longer so you don't have to button press so much
2. 2-block wide staircase to the farm makes luring villagers up easier as it gives you room to run past each other
3. if you do the boat method for keeping the zombie from despawning, increase the size of the zombie platform so it can't reach any of the villagers. using piston let's it reach the villager on that side.
4. i always make the landing/burning zone 2 blocks larger than the width of the spot where the golems drop to keep them from landing on walls.
5. i always have an auto-composter near my landing pad to convert all the flowers into bone meal. such a good bone meal farm. auto-sorting is good here too.
6. close off each villager once getting them in place.
Wattles you should hang shroomlights from the trees in this world like you did in season 3. I feel like it would look great on cherry trees!
wattles's world is the coolest series and guide on TH-cam😎
Yassss slay
I am jealous with how much creativity you have for these buildings ;w; I could never bring myself to make such beautiful buildings like you
For those of you running into an issue where the villagers never sleep and therefore stop panicking and stop spawning golems, there's a pretty easy solution. Just use sticky pistons from underneath to periodically block off the villagers view of the zombie so they can sleep. You can hook them up to an Etho hopper clock or some other clock with decent length delay. For the Etho clock, using 16 blocks in the hoppers seems to be a good amount for me. It's long enough that the villagers all have time to get to sleep, but short enough that it doesn't majorly impact the farm's performance. Hope this helps!
I watched, copied & learned then added one of your older iron farm builds to my repertoire, and it's been consistently good and efficient. A note I've noticed: the villagers [for me, anyway] need to all sleep at least one night (just block the zombies/villagers site area) before they really start "working". Then ya just build an AFK area (maybe fishing for exp/food) and you come back from sleeping to a lot of iron and bonemeal. 😄
Also, if you have silk touch, you can make a quick ice farm for basically water block placers in cases like this.
Wattles your so underrated. I just wanna say i really appreciate everything you do, your farms and tutorials are really easy and effective!
🥺🥺 thanks
@@wattlesplays no problem man 😁🤜🏻🤛🏻
nice design. really good and effective! thanks alot fot the vids :)
Wattles! You shuold build a hot air baloon around floating part of iron farm so it looks nice
FINALLY! LONG HAVE I WAITED
so watching you build this, im not sure if you want to take a suggestion but if you need to save on iron, you can take that kill chamber and expand the layer below the signs to a 5x7 and add water in the corners, centering on a single hopper for collection. may not look as nice initially but its 5 iron vs 75
super smart!!
Hey wattles, you should do an episode where you make a parkor course and go over things like how far you can jump and water bucket tricks / etc 😃
omg thats a super fun idea ty
Just built this, my first iron farm ever!
I suggest you should use scaffolding now that you have bamboo farm
Please do a follow up episode for us bedrock users, the only iron farm I’ve ever used has a villager trading hall attached.
Is this Season 4 of the Minecraft Guide? (Nice Video btw. Works perfect in my Word)
A bedrock iron farm would be great wattles i play bedrock and finding a good iron farm from one of the minecrafters i watch all play java none have done a bedrock iron farm it would help me a lot thanks wattles 😊
JCPLAYZ does a great one in bedrock
jcplayz or silentwhisperer are great for bedrock farms.
@@Narzghal ty
Check out Silent Whisperer’s farm
But jcplayz give very low rates comparatively
1:39 the moment my heart broke 😭
Thanks Wattles. like how you showed how to connect the dots :} Nice tutorial🤝
THANKS
For those who want their farm to work consistently without any repairment add a sticky piston at the base of the platform to block of the view of zombie 5o villagers and connect it to day and night sensor and villagers will always sleep at night and will work at day
What happened to the chunk series wattles?
For farms I think it would be cool to do a tutorial series on the differences between Java and bedrock. Could be interesting.
11:53 i was trying to build a castle around the farm. making sure i was atleast 2 blocks further out than what you informed, but still the golems were spawning outside that area. so you might have to fis your info ;D
Update this with crafter please👀 It can filter out poppy from the iron golem and only put iron in crafter!! More storage and iron blocks now!! (Hopper at the bottom for the poppy’s to go) Just tested it out right now
Always enjoy watching your guides thanks!
is there a video on the seamless glass? I love that look!
Couple of questions:
Why 15 hoppers? I've built one with a similar size killing box. I put water in the back left and built 1 lava blade on the front right on top of a single hopper.
Why make the fence gates at the top non-burning? If you build it high enough, lava below, especially if you only use 1, wouldn't burn that far off. I think the distance is >8 blocks to be safe, correct?
thank you, wattles for this nice iron farm! this is kinda special, because even tho iv played for 5 yrs, I just made my first one really recently because I have inescapable morals and always felt to sorry for the big steel bois :'c (I still do) and my mum was watching me play so I had to expain what it did lol XD
ps wait: did they breed in the cherry grove and did one of those baby villagers INHERENT the desert clothes?? is that possible?
WORKS GREAT
Can't remember if you've done it before or know of it, but them petals are decent for bonemeal.
When you get around to making a creeper farm, can you add a skeleton and combine it to get music disks?
Does the golem spawning platform need to be open to the sky? I'm toying around with my own, and have problem getting anything to spawn where I want to :D
Build idea: use the flowers you have tons of in a semi-automatic bonemeal machine.
👁👁
Sick of all the pink flowers? A mini build idea could be, chest into a hopper, hopper into a composter, composter into a hopper, then that hopper into a chest. Endless bone meal. Love the series by the way. I'm 49. I play almost every day.
i had golems falling on the side of the glass blocks so i expanded my out more to see if that helps the issue
Noah Kahan, Stick Season Album... hits hard. Also you should add azela trees...
saw a video from someone else that mentioned the spawn chunk is always loaded 24/7 so having an iron farm there will constantly run even if you’re not near it
thats a genius idea!! mightve been pixlriffs!
just curious before i build this, does it still work with the new zombie reach mechanics?
hi Wattles i know i am late to the party with this but i am loving the series and been building and following the entire series so far but i am having trouble with keeping the zombie in there after a while he despawns cause he isnt holding anything and cant get one to hold anything got any tricks to help thanks
I would like to see more adventure episodes
wattles after the guide series, have you thought of making a server for all(both members and viewers)
Wattles why don't you start making a clay farm with dripstone? Also with this Iron farm going on, are you going to upgrade your furnaces in your world with blast ones?
interior of the house is looking swag😏😎
To anyone thats having issues (regarding all the villagers in constant panic and golems not spawning) … make one of the rooms slightly bigger… if a villager is getting hit by the zombie on one of the sides… make that the room you make bigger. You can just leave the other 2 sides open as shown in the video, so 2 villagers are constantly panicking and the other is panicking/able to sleep.
It seems the statues from last episode disappeared suddenly... I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Maybe a tear in the time space continuum? 🤔🤷♂
He did say in the previous episode that he had made this episode first.
Wattles you mentioned something about it not working on bedrock and since I play on that version I was wondering why?
me searching for an iron farm to make. this man dropping one 20 hours before
Next, you really should build the interior of your house😂 It'll soon be episode 40😉
Really really nice remastered iconic farm and great episode!
PS: Which mob are you voting for? I personally think Armadillo, but I'm really tempted to vote crab too.
I am leaning crab BUT I also am so tempted for armadillo. I can't decide still but I feel so bad for the penguin lol
vote for the penguin, we need more birds
Your wolf may still be alive with that armor@@wattlesplays
CRAB
IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO
Yesssss tytytytyty is this bedrock or Java or both btw???
Hi I love your channel
Wattles please make a video for iron farm in bedrock. I somehow watch your Minecraft Java edition, even though I got a bedrock version
Hey @wattlesplays is it 30 blocks distance away from another village that is safe to build?
i went 50
What's the advantage of using 15 hoppers over just putting a water bucket in the corner and a singe hopper and chest in the opposite corner? Water pushes iron golem over to the single hopper before they die.
Flexing.
03:00 Mud is a 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 wonderful block that was added in Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update.
Do you ever have trouble getting the villagers to sleep? Even with it at night they just walk around on top of the bed (with LOS blocked from the Z)
I think its important to mansion in the title for wich version the farm works
Is it me or is that actually a really nice beat? 2:57
You can use just one hopper for this. Just have the golems fall to the floor with the lava at head level, and have a flow of water carry the drops into a single hopper. At worst, it takes 2 hoppers, depending on how its setup and if items get stuck on an open edge or something.
interesting!! ill mess with this idea and see what i cann come up with!
@@wattlesplays yes, that's how I do it on Bedrock. In fact, whenever I need to move items in a machine, I try to think of ways to use waterflow over hoppers or carts. It's much faster and less demanding on performance.
what are the rates for the farm?
What glass texture pack is it called?
I never play with fire tick on I always turn it off lol one time i left it on and tried to build a fireplace before campfires and lost the whole build. Im good with keeping it off 😂
Im failing to see why the top part of the farm has to be non burnable blocks ? isnt the only fire risk at the bottom at the so called airfryer ?
I have done something wattles has not done in the past two seasons I finished a garden farm
Can you make an automatic froglight farm, because that would help me so much on my survival worlds. Sometimes someone just wants a fancier light than a torch, and froglight would be great. I also don't know how to make one, so that would be a big help.
you can make an auto frog light farm! just clear out a piglin bastion, specifically the treasure room variant, bring frogs to the magma cube spawners at the bottom of the bastion and boom, profit
@@michaeldianna686 thank you that really helps, now all I need is an automatic creeper farm for survival. I will use it to drop hundreds of bombs on my enemies.
@@MacmacmacCashcashcash-gf2ju splendid! i followed waddles tutorial for that and it worked out great, until now when it kinda just stopped working
Not working on Java, villagers never sleep, even adding in trapdoors and top slabs
Perhaps it is, but I have a easier one with other handy drops too.
1. Find a dungeon with a zombie spawner (I got lucky, one was in a convenient location near my railroad)
2. Build a zombie farm
3. Kill zombies (use Looting III)
4. Get iron nuggets
5. Make nuggets into ingots
6. You have loads of iron!!!
This also will sometimes cause the zombies to convert into drowneds, hence giving you copper ingots sometimes, tridents rarely, and occasionally even coral (I have a datapack installed). In addition, it also produces experience points, pieces of junky armor that can be made into nuggets and disenchanted, potatoes and carrots (why zombies drop this, I don't know), and apparently also chicken drops (a chicken jockey spawned for some reason). It even produces golden nuggets if you have a certain datapack and use a certain sword. It even gives you emeralds, just indirectly (clerics buy rotten flesh for some reason)!
Is that for Bedrock? In Java, zombies very rarely will drop iron ingots. They never drop iron nuggets though.
@@arasdeeps1852 What version are you on? I use Java 1.19 and get plenty of nuggets.
@@Engine1988 You playing modded? It's loot table was probably adjusted. It's not part of the vanilla loot table. The only way to get iron nuggets from zombies is to smelt any iron tools or armor that they drop.
@@arasdeeps1852 No, but the datapacks could be responsible. I have a vanilla+ one called TCC that might be responsible. It does a lot of small changes.
Sorry.
The iron farm episode is officially here!
Any chance you will be making a bedrock iron farm in the near future?
Hey bro I have a tough spawner situation in my world. It's a double spawner with spider and zombie. I'm having trouble with the kill spot that works with both 😅
oh shoooot thay might be tricky try making some sort of area that is 2x2 or 3x3 and use slabs to trap the spiders. they might be tricky to contain because they will climb tho! i think maybe honey might stop that i forget tho
@@wattlesplays cool I'll give it a go and let you know my results
can you make a massive clay/mud farm tutorial🙏🏽
im pretty sure he did in the last series, but i dont think it was fully automatic.
How big is the platform?
Summon them in... up and down and vertical.... yup
you can compost pink petals for bonemeal
Noice
When i do this, at night some of the villages dont go to sleep at all and i have to go up there place a block in the vision of the zombies to reset them
There is a problem in my farm. The villagers sometimes look away from the zombie and just stand there not panicking
Same and it's like they stay there for like forever and never move after that 😂
that’s good though so they can sleep, if they don’t break eye contact every so often, they won’t sleep & the golems won’t spawn
Ya mine just do that constantly and never even spawn a golem at all. Dumb ass villagers
@@supercj7777 Any fixes for this yet?
Place a solid block so that the villager can’t see the zombie 🧟♂️ and let the villagers 💤. 27:46
Quick Question, why is there no villager on the 4 and empty side of the farm?
my dad just had a stroke and watching these videos is the only thing that gives me relief and get my mind off things
i hope he is doing better!
so basically iron farm is farming villagers tears, making them cry with a zombie.
mine seems really slow, its about 40 seconds from the time 1 golem dies until the next one hits the lava. is that normal for this farm?
if i turn off fire tick, can i use any blocks?
is it possible to stack these on top of each other for more golems
you can't really tile iron farms because if there are other villagers nearby it will mess with the mechanics
I’ve not been following this world as closely as the one with the jungle pyramid. (I watched every episode of that as they came out so forgive me needing to look at something else for a few years😅) It is really looking very cool and more my style than the last guide world. I think it’s time to binge Wattles videos again. See you again when I’ve caught up.
Fun fact
Iron is used the most item in recipes (yes even beating wood)
Does anyone know if this works in realms? I am on java on realms
This specific iron farm is java only but i have the perfect iron farm design for bedrock, and i even combined it with another farm that makes it super OP!
*Pro tip * build a bubble elevator instead of the stairs to move the villagers up.
Just have the villagers go to the beds themselves when it's night
Finally
not sure why but my villagers will not sleep for some reason, is it because of the torches?
Is the interior of the cherry house this series mural contest? He keeps sayin he’ll do it, but I’m still waiting for the winner
should put the water where the zombie sits on soul sand, otherwise when a villager stands on it's bed it can't see the zombie and won't panick
minecraft bedrock survival guide pls
Bruh start a bedrock series!!!! ❤
tried the last build and this one but it just straight up doesnt work for me for some reason :(
How far does Lava reach? That far up it will light blocks?
