Yes you can use all kind of thread .If the thread is strands one you will use all 6 strands togather.Thanks

Actually, this is dmc but in a ball shape, one kind of thread has 6 strands and another kind comes in a ball shape in a thick single strand. You can use crochet thread even wool too. Thanks
