I'm from Michigan and am very familiar with the American Motor Companies! My dad retired from GM and I am telling you. When it comes to owning a American made car. No matter which one you buy! Make sure it wasn't made on a Monday or a Friday. That's It! If it was assembled on Tuesday Wednesday Thursday, you are going to be making you tube videos about how reliable your model is, and really it's just because of the general moral of the workspace that mirrors your product. No matter what it is!
Freaking Awesome man 👍👍 i relate to this video 100% i too..have exactly what your driving, and there's just something about these cars that trap your heart and soul. I would not sell mine or trade it for anything 😎✌️
At first, when the 2012 came out, that became my favorite style of the current Chargers, but NOW, this generation is actually the most stylish to me. I prefer this one over the current ones.
People hate on these 5.7s but as long as you give it basic maintenance you’re fine and it’ll last a very very long time. I had one, never had a single issue. I sold it and I horribly regret it.
It’s crazy how much hate this car has got. Hands down one of the best and underrated V8s to hit the road! Haters just devalue this beast because of no reason but hate lol
I have a 2010 Charger my family wants me to trade it in and I'm like no! I'll get a new car but I'm keeping my Charger as long as it's running! I spent way to much money on the engine to just give it away for peanuts at a dealership
I own the 09RT Challenger with now more than 240k miles and still strong and all I replaced so far is the fuel pump oil pressure sensor alternator and I just maintain it well
I don’t know about reliable, but if you are mechanically inclined it can run pretty good. I had to replace the alternator twice, radiator fans, gas tank, fuel pressure regulator/sender, motor mounts, tie rods, upper and lower control arms, valve cover gaskets, power steering pump, I believe that’s it…lol. Oh and my car only has 131k miles on it, but I love it.
I have a 2006 r/t 5.7 with 240k mi. It was running great until about 3 months ago when it started randomly stalling out. At first it did it a couple times only when I came to a stop but it would always start right back up. I took it to a mechanic shop to get a diagnostic and they did one and said they think it’s something with the computer not giving signal to the transmission but they would need a few hours to “get in there” and find out exactly what’s wrong with it and they told me they charge $150 per hour. Does anybody have any idea what it could be before I spend $450 for them to tell me I need a fuel filter? It randomly stalls out and the check engine light only comes on when it stalls then goes away when I start it back up
It’s most likely gonna need a new computer I have a 08 and 10 charger my charger 10 was police owed and it did the same thing except I changed the gaskets and it still did it until I changed the computer and solved the problem that’s just a theory tho for yours
@@JiMiHUNDROSS Mine was stalling half intermittantly, just all of a sudden it would not exactly stall, but it would just stop taking any throttle responce and you'd need to restart it. @@JiMiHUNDROSS mine was fairly random...some days I thought it was the moisture but it would do it on normal sunny days too. But after the crank sensor was changed and I think some wiring in that area it's been perfect for...2 years now. Was annoying stalling while going down and around a corner with nowhere to pull into. Hope you get it fixed, I'd look at the crank sensor just peek see if anything looks off.
My 2006 R/T came with the spoiler and sunroof. Also, you can hear my engine more because of Flow master exhaust. Mine is at 144,000 miles black metalic paint, in fact it's all black. Drives great and fun to drive. I would not call these the most reliable though. I've replaced the alternator, battery, cooling fans with wiring harness as well. The harness cost almost as much as the fans. Also replaced the rack and pinion, and a plastic shifter part in the console (that was a pain). Gas caps keep triggering the check engine light if not tight enough. Otherwise, it's been pretty reliable. It's been some time since I had to repair anything now, I did have to repair wires going to one of the injectors due to squirrel chewing it. I will have to replace front wheel bearings at some point. It has a killer sound system which I seldom use as I'd rather just hear the engine. Now that I'm retired, I only drive it about once a week. The newer Hemi's at around 2012 and up are crap now. Cams and lifters go out due to a change they made.

HI HO & NICE GREETINGS FROM BAVARIA (german..) :) Thanks 4 this nice Video about the 1st of the 1st LX Gen. Charger R/T´s ...I´ve bought an 2006 Charger R/T Daytona at NC,US & shipped it to Bavaria and now i´m also a proud owner of one of these American modern Muscle, what are fantastic in my eyes, also because they´ve all what made the American Cars of the Golden Era (1950-70s) so great an fantastic, mixed with the modern goodies like the axles, the whole Platform inspired of the best Mercedes Cars....The mix is nearly PERFECT and because Mopars back in the golden Era was also known for their Unibody construction, that´s also right for these LX cars, too...Because since i´m restoring a 167 Chevy Caprice/Impala 4 Door Hardtop, what´s not an unibody, even a Body on Frame car i´m a big fan of the Boy on Frame Design for these Mid-Fullsize Sedans...But even the Mopars are right with their unibody design, but the Fords are bad since they´ve no RWD, no Body on Frame, No V8 and such things what are the most importand things in design and must have for an American car in my eyes, since they´ve canceled the Crown Vic, what was a real good design...If they had only changed the Styling to an modern muscle Styling like the Chargers or also Challengers and Camaros has, but even used the Body on Frame Design like the Panther Platform of the C.Vic has, they had done that also nearly perfect i think...But even they´ve now an FWD unibody sedan, withouth the good american style/design V8, these cars are so bad in my eyes and aren´t any option against the present Mopars. Mopar had done that Job, began with the Magnum in 2003/4 and the Chrysler 300C so good, and used that for the Charger since 2005 also in this way, that i can say; THere you can see WHY people are buying these cars; Because they´ve ALL what an modern and future American Car nd even Mopar MUST HAVE.... ;) I´m an Auto Designer and Stylist and even also with the present Charger, Challenger and Chrysler 300c i can say; THAT´s THE ONLY RIGHT WAY 4 DESIGN & STYLE THE PRESENT & EVEN ALSO FUTURE AMERICAN CAR.... :) I´ve many different Drawings and Styling/Design Studies for new Mopars, build on this Platform, what was so great for Mopar in Future...I´ll see if i can work with/by Mopar and help to hold this successful way in Design and Styling for future Mopars.... ;) Now because i know that Auto Industrie is designing cars with parts that will end their job after the Guarantes of the Markers end´s (and even ALL cars of EVERY make has that "issues" build in...) I´m even looking for the kinds of cars that has issues what i could fix with a little bit of modifying the car. And when i see that there are issues with the dropping valve seats and the "Hemi Tick" (What even ALL Chrysler Engines has, not only the HEMI´s) i see and think that these engines are running a little "too hot" and so i´m modding the cooling system and Motoroil System. That´s even the way of me, when i´m choosing a car that i take care of the most common issues of this car & what i could do to fix the issue before the possibility will possible that my car get also these most common issues... And the 2006 R/T Daytona (Top Banana!) is 136.000mls & now even 15 years old....and in an interesting beautyful condition for that age and mileage. So i´m also more afraid of the "most common issue" of the dropping valve seats, because it´s often this mileage when this come on. And in my eyes these engines are running a little to hot especially at the area of the combustion chambers/Valves...And the fist thing i´ve bought to do something against the HEAT EXPANSION OF THE ALUMINUM HEADS is an 180°F/82°C Thermostat, but even that wouldn´t be the only thing of modding against this possibility of that little too much heat expansion of the heads. I´m also looking to get an extern Motoroil radiator/cooler and a lower temperature for activate the both cooling vents at the wather radiator...And think these things make that big different, that this "most common issue" of dropping valve seats wouldn´t come on my Charger. It´s an issue what could be handeled withouth big investments ;) Andt there is to say, that the cars with this HEMI´s, even an V8, Naturally aspirated are on of the best designs of an most reliable/longest lasting engine designe...And even all these TINY ENGINES, with that big Turbo boosts to get the power are one of the badest ways/designs out of stock, what is even the most used kind of design at most common present cars. I´m also an guy who says, an NICE engine beginns with the 5th Cylinder! I don´t like 4 Cylinder engines ore less Cyl....Not ony because 4 Cyl. Engines has even that boring sound, also because they´re to tiny for the weight of present cars what are using 4 cyl. Turbos. The Mopars with the HEMI are meeting ALL MY "MUST HAVE" in Auto Design, an also STYLING,too! :9 These are even the best way of present and future designed & styled American Cars.:) I also love Alfa Romeo, especially the 5 Cyl. Diesel ( 2.4 JTD & JTD 20V ) mostly in the beautyful Alfa 156 and drive these cars since 2004. And Alfa was the founder of the Commonrail Diesel Engine with the 2.4 JTD in high/mass production and introduced the fist "Motorsport Diesel" with these Engines back in 1997. I sold 4 Alfa 156 2.4 JTD that was driven so hard by me, often track use and daily even on and over the limits...that had more than 450.000 - 800.000 km with the 1st Turbo, 1st Clutch, 1st engine & never opened, ...they hadn´t any Motoroil consumption or leaks, with that kind of use and age...I still have also one Alfa 156 with 2.4 JTD 20V Inline 5 Cyl. what is beautyful and so sporty...It´s an very rare, or even not so common car at Germany. And that´s funny, because in my eyes these are the best and bullet proove Diesel cars ever made at europe. And now the Charger is also an rare car at europe. At Europe the LX cars was sold as Chrysler 300C, also 300C Touring..But even not as an Charger. I´m so in love with my Charger! I hope it´s also an so bulletprove car like these Alfa´s was. I´ll see and doing my kind of knowlede & work of modding against the most common issues, even that i get an "Bullesproove Charger R/T" ;) Have a great day! Hope to see more about your Charher and can you tell me what was the problem of the Wather Pump and the ECU, Please???? Cheers Till

Hey I’m looking for my first car and I wanted to know which should I get (06 charger rt 53k miles, 10k is the price, a 12 charger police 5.7 83k 10k is the price and a 12 charger se 8 speed 74k miles, price is 12k and they all have one owner and clean titles) so which one should I get?
If you don’t mind paying for high insurance and gas then go for an rt but if not I would settle for the SE. in my opinion I would always say go for the V8 in a muscle car , cause If you get a V6 there’s no point of getting a charger because it has the same engine as a Honda
I'd personally get the 06. They CAN have valve seat problems (if overheated badly basically) BUT its fairly rare, maintenance is key. 09/10 new heads/VVT engines have lifter problems and are just kind of a pain in some way. Getting a hemi charger would be a must for me. They are simple enough, everything is pretty easy to get at, no big problems with anything, the v6s are eh. If its an 06 with minimal rust (i live in the salt belt so everything here is normally clapped by 10 year old let alone 15, not sure where you live though.)
I tend to disagree on that being a shop owner i cant tell you how many of these come in for failed oil pumps and lifters mileage seem to be between 100 to 130k i personally had an 06 with 220k was on its third oil pump i changed 2 myself and its not a simple job
I have never change oil pump, but I use good oil and change it on a regular basis. I have had the pressure sensor go out was told it was the oil pump. Then watch a video from the Car Wizard 30 minutes later I had regular oil pressure. th-cam.com/video/5Kly9iIfi4Q/w-d-xo.html

I recently got the '06 charger sxt I owned 06' pontiac g6 prior to that i have to say it's a big upgrade loving it so far slowly working my way modifying the car was thinking also getting the g8 pontiac too but i think the charger will do me just fine. And I'm postive with your feedback on your experience thanks.
I’m in love with my 2006 rt. Really is a fuckin tank and doesn’t give me much problems
My brothers 2010 Challenger RT has outlasted his wife’s 2011 Honda Odyssey minivan. The Odyssey gave them so many problems after about 60,000 miles they got rid of it.
Great video. All about smiles per gallon. I always tell people if you're going to spend your hard earned money, make sure you love the vehicle. That's what matters
I have a 09 charger rt. 139000 miles it’s been super reliable. Only repairs is a radiator and tie rods.
2007 charger Rut with 211k runs strong regular maintenance is key, if someone is looking to buy one expect normal wear like shocks, tie rods, water pump, power steering pump, normal for a 15year old car. Smooth rides, decent power, just get rid of the mds mode
hey now thats a title i like to see! I really like the newer Charger cause I had a chance to rent one. 2023 Charger SE Plus and wow its comfortable, good power with the V6 and just really attractive. The reliability is what always makes me wonder. My coworker used to have an SRT8 from 06 and they offered to sell it to me but I was too into the Japanese cars at the time. Happy new year 2024!
I have a 08 RT charger. Head gasket blew so I installed brand new Elderbrock heads and cold air intake and added 30 HP
Where can I buy those parts
Great video. I’ve never questioned reliability of the chargers but they catch more than their share of hate usually from ppl who don’t maintain them. I have a 2010 charger pursuit 5.7 it’s fun to drive and still looks great love it more than my older muscle cars that are just collecting dust in the garage ….but I’m
Old now so comfort is becoming more important these days. MOPAR2YA BUDDY
I’ve got an 06. Love it. 220,000 miles & going strong
Hi, how did you managed to do it and can you give me feedback of how to take good care of it. Are you driving rt right
I'm from Michigan and am very familiar with the American Motor Companies!
What’s wrong with it being made on a Monday or Friday? 😭😭😂 I don’t get it
Because no one works hard on a Monday or Friday
Also, if the assembler's grievance was denied by management and the he was pissed off with the union.
This is what I've heard about British made vehicles as well. Except maybe they only produce cars on Mondays and Fridays....
Freaking Awesome man 👍👍 i relate to this video 100% i too..have exactly what your driving, and there's just something about these cars that trap your heart and soul. I would not sell mine or trade it for anything 😎✌️
Yeah!!! Me neither I ❤ my 2007 Dodge Charger I wouldn't trade it eithe👍
I definitely understand I got 07 RT same color had it for 3 years 148 on the dash and it run good
At first, when the 2012 came out, that became my favorite style of the current Chargers, but NOW, this generation is actually the most stylish to me. I prefer this one over the current ones.
Use your headphones until 2:57
Great video other than that.
I've owned 12 and all 12 have had major problems
@@w.e.s. Well I have a humble 2. For the last 12 years. Running like stallion and roaring like tiger. Zero issues. Literally.

I just got a 06 rt and I love it 😊
I have a 2010 Charger my family wants me to trade it in and I'm like no! I'll get a new car but I'm keeping my Charger as long as it's running! I spent way to much money on the engine to just give it away for peanuts at a dealership
I own the 09RT Challenger with now more than 240k miles and still strong and all I replaced so far is the fuel pump oil pressure sensor alternator and I just maintain it well
Nice Rt i have a 2006 as well rt daytona flavor. I like your ride...i did add a supercharger and other mods to it what a great entry level dodge.
I got the 2009 5.7l R/T and I love it 💯💯
I don’t know about reliable, but if you are mechanically inclined it can run pretty good.
Still have it
Same here about 90% of what you had said I had to replace within the 2 years I've had it, it has 132k miles. Still love it!

Great vídeo dude!!! Thanks
I have an 06 Daytona with 226k miles on it. No major issues whatsoever. Just the usual wear items.
My '06 Charger RT has 225,000.
I wish mine was an R/T, but it’s just a SXT. I love my car and it’s easy to work on, but I’m getting an R/T someday
@@sebastianroldan2509 thanks I was hoping the computer would be the last thing wrong with it
@@JiMiHUNDROSS Mine was stalling half intermittantly, just all of a sudden it would not exactly stall, but it would just stop taking any throttle responce and you'd need to restart it. Crank Sensor was replaced by the mechanic POSSIBLY some wiring fixing (chaffed wires i'm guessing or corrosion) and it's been fine since. 06 Daytona charger 130k miles now and its pretty nice.
@@baileyhatfield4273 that’s what’s up bro.. I was getting pcm and ecm codes and I bought new posts for my battery (also the battery cables were loose ) and tightened the cables and had someone clear the codes and it’s been running great for about 5 days. Not sure if it’s fixed but it has yet to stall at all for 5 days in a row
Dude that's crazy I have a 06 Daytona edition RT or whatever same thing man squirrel or something chewed it it set for 18 months before I got it there were not on one side and leaves on the other side and little son of a b**** to the wires sorry talking to text or whatever but they chewed them right up I wonder if it's something with this car someone said they were wrapped the stuff that wrapped in is made with peanut
Thank the environmentalist. Due their whining they started making wire insulation on many cars out of organic crap. Squirrels love it. The car I had before the charger cost $650 to repair wiring bundle they chewed through. I'm no longer fond of squirrels. @@boogie2852
Nice!👍 I own a 2004 Chrysler 300M Special with 162k miles😀 the last year of the LH Platform before Chrysler switched to the LX Platform
your story about the water pump going out sounds normal around that mileage but still, you got a cool car.
i'll add that the steering wheel controls for radio and cruise control were one of my favorite things about that car.
Just bought a 2006 charger RT Daytona 90,000 miles and runs hard! now is it special edition or limited edition?? It does say special edition in the dash on start up. Just wanna know because people call it either or alot
Alot of people talk about Dodge and never owned one. How can people talk about how bad they are if you never experienced it? Smh
I've had 4 chargers and I've had every body style and never had an issue. I currently have a 10 RT and it has 150,000 with zero issues. If you take care of a car it will do you good use some common sense
HI HO & NICE GREETINGS FROM BAVARIA (german..) :)
Thanks 4 this nice Video about the 1st of the 1st LX Gen. :)
I´ve many different Drawings and Styling/Design Studies for new Mopars, build on this Platform, what was so great for Mopar in Future...I´ll see if i can work with/by Mopar and help to hold this successful way in Design and Styling for future Mopars.... ;)
Now because i know that Auto Industrie is designing cars with parts that will end their job after the Guarantes of the Markers end´s (and even ALL cars of EVERY make has that "issues" build in...) I´m even looking for the kinds of cars that has issues what i could fix with a little bit of modifying the car. :9 These are even the best way of present and future designed & styled American Cars.:)
I also love Alfa Romeo, especially the 5 Cyl. I´ll see and doing my kind of knowlede & work of modding against the most common issues, even that i get an "Bullesproove Charger R/T" ;)
Have a great day! Hope to see more about your Charher and can you tell me what was the problem of the Wather Pump and the ECU, Please????
Cheers Till
Please give me advice. Im a huge dodge fan but people say these are bad. Are they a reliable muscle car?
If u take care of them yes they are great cars
My rt 06 always has suspension weak problems ever two years, winter ice bumps trash suspension right away, count on replacing everything. 1,500 in damage from normal driving wear, stupid dodge junk tie rods, loud clicking in dash ,gas gage sticking,it's a lemon, rusting underneath, shops refused to lift up,rear end leaks oil, rusted finder well ,big holes, rims chipping, costly to replace 650.00 for one from mopar, transmission acts bad in traffic.engine alway taps, junk lifters , small bolts holding exhaust manifold, brakes,if u ever get transmission hot, shut it off , it's junk, for some reason I just spent 1,500 on front brakes, four tie rods, line up , auto shop says all dodges have this problem, why don't I hear anyone else talk about the same.
Nice video, but my 65 Dodge Dart is the most reliable car in America. Still running the original slant six and drivetrain. Seriously, though, the Chargers and Challengers are good looking cars.
i have 2014 hemi charger and i cant say enough good things about. a lot of people talk trash about the motors but most of the time its because people get lazy on the maintenance....change your oil people! i change mine every 3k.
It's beautiful!
I heard these last longer than the new 1s
V8s yes, the 4/6cyl are trash.
@@Equinsu_Ocha 6 cylinders actually lasts longer. So what's your definition of trash? Slower because if it is that's the only way you are right. And if that's how you feel cool. But to call another person's car trash because ya car has a bigger engine is weirdo shit. Cause a person n a Benz might look at ya charger and say. Trash...... now who is right is up to you. But in my strong opinion the guy in the Benz is a clown. And probably has a 4 inch dik. Hence his reasoning behind calling peoples cars trash.
yal on hear with 200k plus miles on pre eagle have any issues with valve seats?
The valve seats dropping were one of the common issues with the pre Eagle 5.7L Hemi's, especially if it is driven really hard. I only have 140k miles on my 300c, so no issues yet but I'm not really hard on it either.
ECU going out at about 190K miles... or even going out AT ALL... makes me pretty sure this isn't the 'most reliable car in America'.
My Chrysler 300c Hemi is sitting at 267k. Haven’t replaced anything besides regular maintenance. Take care of your Vehicles and you won’t have those problems.
Got a better example? Anything at all? We are waiting…………
I have a 2006 rt with 215,XXX on run just fine
Yeah the only thing that really goes wrong on here are the water pumps, other than that, purrrs like a kitten. Beautiful.
They actually make carbon fiber steering wheels for the 06 Charger’s I’d like to see this car with a challenger demon hood with hellcat wheels and other good stuff 👍 would look bad ass
I do love mine! it was sold to me with a malfunctioning PCM unfortunately but im going to drop the new PCM in soon! *Did u have any probs w/PCM or automatic shutdown symptoms?
Theres a website were you can get one for about $300 dollars and already programmed to the car!
Can the ECU damage the vehicle. Had it to 3 shops no one wants to just fix the ECM
Only thing i hate about my 09 300c is the front suspension design. Every few years it needs work
Personally I’d choose the Pontiac G8 over the Dodge Charger
Sweet 06 rt daytona here to.
how much were those major repairs?
Beautiful car. U should add the chin lip to the front lower bumper
Any future mods bro or jus keeping stock??
I tend to disagree on that being a shop owner i cant tell you how many of these come in for failed oil pumps and lifters mileage seem to be between 100 to 130k i personally had an 06 with 220k was on its third oil pump i changed 2 myself and its not a simple job
I have never change oil pump, but I use good oil and change it on a regular basis. I have had the pressure sensor go out was told it was the oil pump. Then watch a video from the Car Wizard 30 minutes later I had regular oil pressure. th-cam.com/video/5Kly9iIfi4Q/w-d-xo.html
