    I like your umbrella spike. I have to get one of those. I activated that park once but I went in the back way and hiked to the top of the hill. Lots of cactus to hike through. I see the park is closed now. Too bad. That was a short drive from my daughter's place in San Marcos. 73 de N6EF.

    Cool stuff, thank you for sharing. I'm in Florida myself. Im new to HAM had my general for a few months now. Trying to figure out how to get into HF and at the moment the g90 seems to be the best fit for multiple reasons. I really like the simple set up your have.

      The g90 is a great radio to start out with. It does all the important bands. the trick with making it useful is to have a great antenna that performs well in the bands you want, ex. 40m, 20m, 15m, etc. I found that a EFHW antenna does just that. Also, be aware that the radio only does 20W max. So you wont be able to bust a pile-up of other stations talking, but if you can be patient and wait for an opportunity to speak, the radio does just fine. Good luck... 73.

    Dan I like that umbrella spike, Have you considered using PVC to save your back lol? Just wondering on ssb how much power you run on the QRP guys antenna? Thanks for the info!

      I'm running about 20W, but I have run 50w into it with no issues.

    It's a no tune efhw that you have to tune. I bought one, and you definitely have to tune it. You can just put it up, and it works.

      @@dan_in_sd cool. I'll look into one. I usually set up POTA in the woods but have wanted to set up on the beach of Lake Michigan. Haven't found a good, affordable way to support the wire. Have a great evening.

    Do you point your antenna in a specific direction depending on the region you want to cover?

      While the EFHW antenna does seem to radiate more in the direction of the end thats up in the air, I have made contacts in all directions. Just depends on the conditions.

    If it's a HW, which band is it cut for?

    • @dan_in_sd
      @dan_in_sd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cut to 63 ft or so. For 40m band. But it will also work on 20m, 15m.. Also 17m with a little help from ATU in the g90.
