    If I want to run ×4 600 watt balist can I plug 4 in to a 4 or 6 way powerboard ? or is there any requirement to use multiple balist would you have to check you house fusebox because I know most homes are slit up into ×2 15 or 30 amp sections usually the bedrooms and the second half of homes which would be lounge kitchen laundry and some even have extra for garage or should I ask a electrician for help so I'm not blowing fuses all the time?

    How much current does the ballast draw?

    Does the reflector need an iec connector built in? Or is it possible to get an electrician to wire a stripped wire --> IEC female, that would plug straight in to the ballast?
    The HPS reflector has previously been run on a magnetic one, with just straight up stripped wire from both ends. (Cooltube magnetic ballast) and there's no readily available info out, at least that i could find. Only for reflectors with an already hardwired IEC connector.
    Cheers from Amsterdam.

      Most reflectors will have a connector port built in. You could get an electrician to wire it, but obviously that throws any warranty you might have out the window.

    In summer is it possible to run a 400w bulb with a 600w digital ballast to keep the heat down ?

    • @growell
      @growell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, always match the wattage of the lamp to the ballast, then dim with the ballast. This will reduce the heat a bit and remove the risk of complications from an incompatible lamp and ballast.

    im not growing plants but i have always wondered if a guy could run 2- 250w or 4-150w HPS off of a single 600w ballast.

    • @growell
      @growell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We definitely would not recommend trying this. We would always match the lamp wattage to the ballast wattage as the ballasts are designed to run just one lamp at the required wattage.

    • @NewPipeFTW
      @NewPipeFTW ปีที่แล้ว

      The starting voltage of the high wattage ballast will probably blow up the lower watt lamps.
      The electrical ballast is not only used for transforming the current to run the lamp.
      But also needs to ignite the lamp and then limit the voltage and current in time.
      Always use a matching lamp ballast combo.
      And the dimmable digital ballasts should be turned off when changing the wattage selector.

    Can you use more than one light on a single ballast??

    • @growell
      @growell  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not with any of the ballasts we supply. There used to be dual magnetic ballasts many years ago, but nowadays it is one ballast per light for every brand that we can think of!

    hello, are ballasts safe? I just ordered and iPower kit, and the only space I have available it's a storage room of course full of flammable stuff.

    • @growell
      @growell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ballasts are safe, but it's wise to always take pre-cautions. We would always mount a ballast to a wall or place it on something non-flammable like a large brick. If you know there is plenty of flammable materials around then best to err on the side of caution and not keep your ballast in that storage room.

    My cable guy claimed that my two ballast a week after I hooked up the second one both of them Solis Tek. 1000 watt and 600 w.. took out the entire neighborhood internet and cable. He disconnected me left me disconnected and drove off. What did I do walked up to the meter plugged my stuff back in went back to my house and watch my damn TV. But I did also have to move the wiring for the cable input from the outside of my house running across my living room through my garage into my kitchen because right below the living room is where the digital balast are.

    Is a 400w MH Bulb able to be safely dimmed to the 150w & 250w setting via it's 400w Electronic Dimmable Ballast?
    Why does the internet keep mentioning the below?:
    *The better use is to dim the 1000w ballast down to 600w and then use it to run an actual 600w bulb.*
    *That is the big advantage of a dimmable ballast: it allows you to power bulbs of multiple wattages.*

    • @growell
      @growell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Always match the lamp (bulb) to the ballast. So 400W lamp for a 400W ballast, evening if you're planning to dim it at all times.
      So yes you can safely dim the 400W lamp to 250W etc.
      We'd never recommend you use lamps that don't match the ballast wattage because of the initial surge in electrical current used to fire the lamp.
      Plus we wouldn't recommend using a Metal Halide lamp if the ballast has an over charge feature (to run lamps at a higher wattage).

    What happens if i accidentally pull the bulb cord out of the ballets before taking out the mains :( lights not working now

    • @growell
      @growell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Give it some time, at least 15 minutes then try to turn it on again. If this doesn't work most likely you'll just need a new lamp (bulb).
