You're correct - there is definitely some vendor lock-in, but not in the way that you think. These tools use an AI compiler to create native code, but that means it does not benefit from the comments left by manual coders in normal apps. The code is machine-built, making it very difficult for a human to actually figure out if they need to start supporting it off the low-code platform. Outsystems, for example, allows you to "detach" your applications at the end of the license period. The apps still work, can run, but are damn hard to try to convert to a state where humans can start maintaining and doing continuous development. That being said, once you've bought and driven the Tesla of dev platforms, why would you go back to a horse?
