Please rethink the title (and thumbnail). Admittedly I haven't watched the video, but naming a video about Hideki Tojo "Bringing Japan Into The Pacific War", is akin to naming a video about Hitler "Taking Germany Into Tumultuous Times". Not wholly inaccurate, but really?
Please, for heaven's sake, please stop using the rising sun flag for the Japanese Empire. It's so disappointing and frustrating to see that even a channel as great as this falls into this amateurish mistake. Japan's civil flag during WWII, that is, the counterpart to those of other countries in this video and elsewhere, was a red dot on a white background. Even a quick Wikipedia search would let you see that. Stop spreading this misconception. Please.
⬛American historians don't learn history at all, so their propaganda is incessant to hear ... 😊 It is clear that the basis of them is the purpose of scapegoating, with all of Japan losing responsibility for the war. Knowing this and spreading it, they can no longer be thought of as crazy people before they say historians ... patriots ...Mental illness Why is Tojo a racist? I don't understand at all. And, in Christianity would like to say that the emperor is not a god ... However, if you follow him, it is historically the United States that you will reach 神武天皇 Emperor Jimmu, the myth of the founding of Japan, but it noone cannot be denied. … Don't you criticize those who don't understand the meaning of other cultures? Fact that Japanese soldiers are falsely accused of their war criminals." I think it's the big problem in American history. ⬛Your theory is ridiculous from the beginning. Why continue to pursue the responsibility of the emperor? Many people may have been brainwashed by the United States and misunderstood, but "the victory or defeat of war is the strong or weak of power and has nothing to do with justice." It is strange to say that Japan is a "war criminal" because it was just defeated ... what? The representative of the Japanese army, who was executed as a so-called A-class war criminal who was stigmatized by the victorious country, is also a defeated country. The person in charge, that is, the leader. It's just a show of revenge ... The winner judges the loser ... there is no right or qualification ... if it were in that era, only the belief of the ruler, who was covered in the evil desires of white supremacism ... In other words, why were the Japanese soldiers punished? What is the sin? There is only one reason for defeating. In other words, is it the defeat = war crime that the American judgment is strange? It is too stupid. I want to say how long they going to make Japan take all the responsibility for the war and make a scapegoat. Taiwanese historian Ko Bun'yu also said, "Japanese has liberated more slaves than Lincoln. It was given instead of being robbed of its name by Soshi-kaimei (giving the Japanese name to those who wished)." "If Japan had only one wrong thing ... it was a loss." Isn't it embarrassing for America, which was founded by the theory of Christianity? Rubbing responsibility to Japan for making up forever ... 3 anti-Japanese country want to need and America needs too History Academia made own only compared to the Nazis war criminal as hero America Written by Stupid Hypocrite the Winner at the Center of the World. We know lying in American history. How long do you really believe in the history of Korean and Chinese fabrications? What the United States was working on behind the scenes of Nanjing and the comfort women issue … why? It's a simple. That's because like a evil Japan for America needed... For the desires of MacArthur and the barbaric white supremacist ruler And Chiang Kai-shek's propaganda advertising department? And Roosevelt Group had already signed a contract in 1938 ... The most troublesome thing about Chiang Kai-shek and Chinese propaganda is to make themselves assailant changes we are the victims ...and enemy country (Japan) claim that Deceived as the position of damage caused by one's own harm Disseminate FAKE information that we are victim such a terrible thing by the Japanese army Substituting the victim for the perpetrator ... "Win without fighting" 🔴[Truman's 3S Policy] This story cannot be underestimated This is an important point in solving the brainwashing of the people. "Recognizing brainwashing" is important for cancellation. US President "Truman" To enslave Japan, a defeated country they used the 3S policy "Sex, sports, screen" Let the people's pleasure be directed to this Policy that does not draw attention to politics It was exactly the Japanese folklore policy. ⬛MacArthur talks about the Japanese: "If we measure with modern civilization, if we are 45, the Japanese are like a 12-year-old boy. The Japanese can accept new models and new ideas. It is possible to instill a basic concept in Japan. By nature, they are endowed with the ability to flexibly accept new concepts. " 🔷 Harry S. Truman "We keep monkeys (Japanese) in a cage named'False Freedom'. The method only needs to give them some luxury and convenience. And release sports, screens and sex (3S). Now you can turn your eyes away from the truth. Because monkeys are our livestock. Livestock contribute to us as our masters Naturally. Therefore, the body of livestock, which is also our property, You have to make it longevity. Make them sick (with chemicals, etc.) and keep them alive. This will keep us harvesting. This is also the authority of the victorious country. " ⬛ Also, on August 11, President Truman left the following comment in response to the telegram of the US-Christian Church Federation's protest against the dropping of the atomic bomb. "Thank you for the telegram dated August 9. No one is as traumatized by the use of the atomic bomb as I am. However, I was also very traumatized by Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor without a declaration of war and the massacre of prisoners of war. The only word that the Japanese understand seems to be that we drop the atomic bomb on the Japanese. When you come into contact with a beast, you must treat it as a beast. It's a shame, but that's the truth. " ⬛Nelson Mandela ◇Discrimination is the disease of the soul. It kills more people than any infective disease. The tragedy is that we have not discovered its treatment, which is in our reach. ⬛ Judge Railing's Diary 1946 ・ February Tomoyuki Yamashita ・ Execution of Army General He said in a military court in Manila, "I'm not ashamed of what I did…." Yamashita was a great man, not a criminal. It was just an enemy. ⬛ Professor Emeritus Shoichi Watanabe of Sophia University said, "Now is the truth of the'Pal Judgment'that cuts off the view of the history of the Tokyo trial." Summary The following two points are listed at the beginning, and the Tokyo Tribunal is claimed to be invalid. Really interesting. (1) The prosecution's side at the Tokyo Tribunal said, "This is a judgment of civilization, and by punishing the leader of the war of aggression, we will deter the outbreak of war in the future. The claim that "it has the purpose of making the international community safe" is that the Korean War broke out "before the ink of the sentence was fragile." It collapsed with the participation of many countries in the world. It is the end of the war between the judges of the Tokyo Tribunal. It is not a "civilization trial" at all. (2) Marshal MacArthur, who made the court ordinance (charter) of the Tokyo Tribunal, At the beginning of May 1945, just two and a half years after the execution of the so-called Class A war criminals, At the Senate Military Tribunal Joint Committee, one of the supreme institutions on military diplomacy in the United States, he officially testified to completely deny the Tokyo Tribunal. ⬛MacArthur concludes by testifying: ”Their (Japanese) purpose, therefore, in going to war was largely dictated by security.」 The reason why the Tribunal Ordinance was created in the first place is that "at that time, there was no international law to establish the Tokyo Tribunal." MacArthur himself, who made the court ordinance, said, "Japan did not have a war of aggression. It was a self-defense war. " Chief Prosecutor Keenan was involved in the drafting of the Court Ordinance. This is also a completely unjustified story, and it is a proof that the prosecutor's accusation was a trial that was decided according to the prosecutor's statement, such as making provisions for the trial. About the MacArthur Ordinance (Charter) Judge Pal denounced the words "killing civilization" as follows. "To make a so-called trial according to the definition of crime given today by the winner is kills the centuries-old civilization that lies between our time and the old days of the immediate killing of the losers. " I wonder why these scholars continue to say that Japan has invaded. And do you call the Imperial Army racism to Europe? I'm not sure. Japan opposed the invasion of the Christian world and the Asian colonies of white supremacists ... Thailand and Japan were the only independent countries at that time ... From the perspective of Japan, the guardian deity of Asia, they are the same as the CCP now ... ⬛ According to international law, the United States Lose the position of questioning Pearl Harbor to Japan at the time of military aid to China. However, the United States was a coward who started a war by doing a military business behind the war with "remember" and always promoting "the other party as a coward" ...Sneak Attack ☺️ Fact that Japanese soldiers are falsely accused of their war criminals." I think it's the big problem in American history.
Well the allies really did put all their hopes into market garden i think they really were expecting to crush them by christmas if it went according to plan but it usually never does does it?
I feel like Hideki Tojo’s role in Imperial Japan isn’t talked about much in history classes. Even though it’s important to understand in order to understand how Imperial Japan came to be.
Tojo was actually a small fish up until his post of Minister of Army. He was not particularly influential within the IJA. (Besides his reputation of being traditionalist and hyper loyalist towards the Emperor)
I don't think there two versions of imperial japan one is the miji Japanese empire and other one is the miltery controlled Japanese empire, teaching Japanese kids about his brutality might spark to overthrow the Japanese monarchy, I don't think they want to do that.
@@glocksmith226 Instead, Japan got rid of the Dutch from Indonesia, formed a national army, supplied weapons, and trained them. They are the ones who fought against the Dutch that came back to recolonize and enslave them.

Tojo KNEW that the Emperor won't approve a royal family member to be Prime Minister. He's just using it to "ascend" to the top, knowing the Emperor will favour him. Well played.
It's always interesting looking at the Japanese perspective on the war, and the contradictions within it. They (and Tojo) had really solid ground for their rejection of European and American racism, but then chose courses of action that were at least as bad, and in many ways worse, obliterating that high ground. And reading between the lines, it seems like so many actions were justified with deference to the Emperor, then they filtered so much of the information that reached him that his perspective could hardly be considered whole. At such a critical juncture, it seems no one thought to actually tell the Emperor about the nomination of Prince Higashikuni and check if he would approve it.
I think Konoe was for a Higashikuni premiership when he resigned but the emperor refused because he believed imperial family members should not hold ministerial positions which are below them. Higashikuni later only became prime minister when it was necessary to convince the zealots in the country to accept surrender and an imperial prince as prime minister would smooth out that process
No, this video is about the old war propaganda and has nothing to do with truth or history. Refuting fabricated stories to look as if he is right is typical war propaganda.
@@olliefoxx7165 That is stupid war propaganda. I admire you for having the guts to still trust the CCP after all these lies about the Covid-19. There is no such photo except for fabricated ones. Kuomintang Publicity Section fabricated all these photos of so-called “Japanese soldiers” wearing Japanese outfits made in China to distribute in the US for raising funds through Chang-kai Shek’s wife, Mei-sou Lin. The CCP is using these photos today to create hatred to break through the First Island Chain. Ask yourself if you can really show the bayonet photo, or name and the date of the newspaper you talked about of the “Japanese soldiers.” Are they really Japanese? You should really read the proper book if you want to pretend you know something about regional history. Throughout history, it is the Chinese who are the racist of the region. It is in their traditional philosophy, Confucianism and Sinocentrism. Officially, they were racists towards other nations because they believe the Hans are superior. Read their original history books. On the other hand, can you think of any evidence to show that the Japanese were racist in any part of their history? The recent “wolf warrior diplomacy” of the CCP is nothing new in the region. The Hans was always like that in history. The west was fooled because they were trying to learn from fabricated history. The more fabrication you read, the dumber you will become.
A hardworking and efficient bureaucrat, Tōjō was also one of the most aggressive militarists in the Japanese leadership. He led his country’s war efforts after the attack on the U.S. military base at Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, and under his direction smashing victories were initially scored throughout Southeast Asia and the western Pacific region. After a series of Japanese military reverses in the Pacific, Tōjō assumed virtual dictatorial powers, taking over the post of the chief of the General Staff.
In a way Tojo was majorly responsible for awakening the sleeping beast that would pummel the Japanese military and ultimately bring the war to the Japanese homefront. Imagine if he didn't advocate for Japan to war with The West, maybe Japan would be much different than it is today.
@@mitjed LOL Japan would have to cede any right in Manchuria and Korea for the Kuomintang to work with them, and even if they did, the Soviets would smash both armies
@@TheGetout04 Well, the soviets key armies was located in Europe. Even then, the Soviets by then couldnt even defeat Poland or Finland, how can they defeat the combine armies of China and Japan? The soviets also need to watch their terrirories to the east.
"The proposal for a racial equality clause received a majority vote..." Wow, I didnt expect that "...but was overturned by President Woodrow Wilson" Of course, of course Wilson would do that.
The Japanese tried to make it palatable by restricting it to member states of the League of Nations, which would have meant only Japan, China and Thailand. Australia fought hardest against it, in order to preserve its White Australia Policy.
yeah woodrow wilson is one of the worst human beings to ever plague this planet. Obviously though with hindsight, a racial equality act from a nation of racists and merciless butchers loses its meaning too
At the time, racial inequality is worse in the US than in Europe. When US troops came to Europe in WW2, the British soldiers were shocked at how badly the white American soldiers treated their black peers in the army.
@@bangscutter but dont forget! the US is the greatest country! a beacon of freedom and democracy! there's no such thing as racism in that shining beacon of beaconness
Your video completely changed the way I think about the Pacific War and Japan's culpability in bringing it about. The fact Tojo misrepresented America's offer regarding Manchukuo to the Emperor means he was primarily responsible for bringing on the Pacific War. Amazing to me how history can turn so drastically on the influence of just one person. Tojo has the blood of millions of people on his hands.
don't forget the different things that pushed it to this point too. For example, president roosevelts idiotic racism was one of the main things that pushed tojo to hate america so much. many people have blood on their hands for ww2 and ww1, some individuals simply did more obviously escalating actions like tojo with the note and the serbian who shot the archduke right before ww1.
@@jonsmith9527 His actions caused the self-fulfilling prophecy. We saw in this video that tojo was convinced by the usa's actions that the west would never accept them and that might made right. Had the usa not done what it did I believe the pacific war would have not happened because tojo would not have been that radicalized. The sino-japansese war would most likely have happened still, but I doubt they would have gone after the west or other nations.
@@resentfuldragon I've known many slaves and Jewish people who didn't commit atrocities against white people or Germans just because what was done to their people. I don't know how or why you would want to justify what he did. Of course not all Japanese are responsible, but he is entirely responsible for his own murderous bloodlust.
@@jonsmith9527 I never said he was justified or that he wasn't fully responsible, I simply said that he was made not born evil. I agree tojo was evil and was one of the primary causes of ww2 and deserved to die and face judgement. I also consider roosevelt's disgusting and blatant racism and antagonization to be one of the factors that led to ww2/ ww2 as well as the previous ww1 were both caused by the bad choices of important people on both sides, there was no single action that did it. both wars were entirely preventable by either side and it was a series of idiotic mistakes that led to two of the worst wars humanity ever faced. This isn't limited to the past either, it still is and will continue to happen until we are all dead. the cold war and its proxy wars were preventable, the "war on terror" was preventable, the war in yemen was preventable, the war in ukraine was preventable. Nearly every war we had was a series of bad choices by important people on both sides, often one side being worse than the other.
I think K&G needs to give a crash course about Japanese government & military structure and relationship at this point, as so many details were lost in this video. (Though dedicated towards Tojo alone, it would be most helpful if K&G explain the difference between the minister of army and the IJA Chief of Staff, plus the minister of navy and the IJN Chief of Staff)
It seems the cabinet had a bunch of generals (and admirals) holding critical portfolios in the government. Was the cabinet a military + zaibatsu clique? I hope the IJA and IJN rivalry is covered also.
@@graystoke8229 No, there are many politicians who come from a military background. (The samurai traditions) But once most of them enter politician life and party politics, whenever they try to implement certain policies that are not of the military’s younger officers taste, they would get loathed upon and even worse assassinated.
@@graystoke8229 They wanted to keep the facade of the civilian government and as well as getting the Zaibatsu support, so outside private entrepreneurs are also key advisors to the government. But the military is actually divided to two components, one is the administrative ministers (army and navy ministers) who are cabinet members and are selected by the navy to be their representatives in the government. The other is the commanding component (both army and navy chief of staff), who are the general command of the entire military and only answers to the Emperor. They are not directly responsible to the cabinet and the latter has no way to control them.
@@graystoke8229 One way for IJN and IJA to control cabinet policies is to “not appoint army and navy minister candidates”. If a government cabinet do not have active military personnel to take up as army and navy ministers, the cabinet would be forced to resign and form a new one. (One that aligned more to the military’s interests)
There really are so many good channels these days (with K&G being among the best, of course). Which is highly fortunate due to the fact that the history channel is a pile of hot garbage these days...

I did a little google search and found his granddaughter Yuko Tojo tried politics to ''recover japan's honor and pide'' until her death in 2013. There is a NBC article written in 2010 if anyone interested.

Take all of the radical fanatics of humanity from nazi, imperial Japan, Holy Roman Empire, conquistador Spain, etc. have them all create an evil incest baby and that’s the imperium of man’s government. Also considering their are hundreds of thousands if not millions of planets I wouldn’t be surprised if theirs a planet for nazi’s, imperial Japan, fascist Italy, etc.
Fun fact! Kishi Nobusuke (10:36) became prime minister of Japan in 1957 and served until 1960 - when he had to step down due to huge outcry for his actions regarding the US-Japan security treaty. He is also the maternal grandfather of Abe Shinzo!
This is what History sites should be - relating things as they are/were. It's heartening to note the quality of this channel. For instance, bringing forth the racism of countries that include the US and Britain. This aspect is often glossed over by most channels and sites in their accounts of the past, making as if the US and Britain are `heroes' while others not working for them as `evil'.
i bet those History sites also never mention about CCP inhumene crimes because CCP giving so much money and propaganda to history book, media and sites for making "China" and Communist Party look "hero" and "pure victim" meanwhile Japanese, American, and the others Westerns as "Devil" and "Weak coward"
Hideki tojo one of the most brutal and aggressive commanders of japan. He led Japan into war and conquered most of pacific. Brillant leadership. Also notoriously committed lot of war crimes. Specially the nanking was most brutal. Anyway this Pacific war series is one of the very best in TH-cam. A huge fan of you from Sri Lanka. ❤️🇱🇰🏴🇯🇵
In just a span of 3 years, Tojo went from serving as a general in China to become the freaking war minister of Japan, that is an astonishing career progress, especially for a bureaucratic society like Japan!
Japan was not hierarchy at the time, as everyone was ONLY loyal to the Emperor. Everyone felt it's ok to subvert his superiors if it's in the name of the Emperor.
Not really such a big thing. He headed the powerful toseiha faction of the japanese army, and after 1936 wiped out the political career of his inly rival and a leader of the kodoha faction, tomoyuki yamashita ( of Singapore fame, but the 25th army is a pretty small command for someone who could've been the leader of the ija). Any general or even Lt general could become the war minister, so it really wasnt such a big thing.
"Justice has nothing to do with victor nations and vanquished nations, but must be a moral standard that all the world's peoples can agree to. To seek this and to achieve it - that is true civilization." -Quote Hideki Tojo

Nice video. Are we going to see any other side video's on other prominent figures of the Pacific War? My compliments to all those who made this video a reality.
It is interesting how the aggressive powers in WW2 had similar misconceptions about what powers like the UK and US would find acceptable. Hitler did not originally think a conquest of the UK would be necessary, surely they would negotiate terms if France fell, right, right? Same here it seems, surely the US won't intervene in our war efforts in Asia, right? I don't know if they thought us too cynical, too complacent or both, maybe they were basing their belief off of what the US and UK already allowed them to get away with.
To be fair, the will of the US Congress and the goals of President Roosevelt diverged pretty heavily on the topic of war prior to Pearl Harbor. Even getting the Lend-Lease act passed took incredibly difficult political maneuvering by Roosevelt because Congress preferred simply cutting as many ties to belligerent powers as possible, including defenders.
Fascinating insight. I find it funny that my American history education in school [as an American] always glossed over why exactly Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, just that they did. There's a lot here to explain what many Japanese must have thought about America. At least those in power.
Oh, the irony of starting a war of conquest against a nation of major strategic depth so you can have resources to finish that other war of conquest against another nation with significant strategic depth...
Awesome movie! Especially PM Tojo was focused. The term "Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito" is still effective in oral history. Although the movie didn't refer about notorious meanings of Roosevelt's words and Hull note in Japan, but drawing aspects from Tojo is very useful. It's essential for understand why Imperial Japan went mad to Pearl Harbor.
Wonderful video! It's strange; it must be assumed that throughout the first several hundred thousand years of human prehistory, our ability to form social units must have helped us rise to become the dominant species on Earth. But the next ten thousand years saw a lot of social change that our biology couldn't deal with, and the last century our ability to allow ourselves to sleepwalk into catastrophe led by a few fools has resulted in unimaginable carnage.
Amazing how similar Chinas various statements today are to those of Imperial Japan back in the day. Something I'm sure would anger the Chinese if pointed out.
Great video. Looking forward to next addition. By the way, I think the "i" in Sino is the hard "i", and pronounced as it is in the word like. Not a big deal though.
It's just something so difficult to comprehend the strategic thinking but also the ruthlessness of these people in charge during WW2. In every action they took war with the US was basically always the goal it seems. What good did it bring them in the end.....
Many people are deceived by the stereotypical historical interpretation that "Hideki Tojo was a dictator who started the war," and do not know that Tojo was chosen as prime minister to restore Japan-U.S. relations that were pushed to the brink, and that there is another person who was responsible for the endangered Japan-U.S. relationship. The alliance with Germany and the occupation of French Indochina took place when Tojo was not prime minister.
Dear Kings and Generals, I have a question about the part at 2:40! You state that the education system is promoting militarism in school, was this the case even during the era of taisho democracy?
Even if the Hull note was fully understood, the thought of withdrawing from all of Chinese gains since 1937 after all the men & effort that was sacrificed just in exchange for getting on the good side of the same power that humiliated them for a long time is just crazy to them. At this point the miltaries would rather fight the US than "show weakness & lose face" while rendering thousands of Japanese deaths in vain over pleasing the US for some oil.
All those troops bound on the chinese main land, all those ressources lost ... and then attacking the USA. Pride, especially national pride is a VERY BAD advisor when you want to start (!) a war.

Love all your videos and this is a slice of history I didn't know. I have a recommendation, have you ever looked at Peace Negotiations during WWII? What happened, where were they held and were their previous serious suggestions for peace between the Axis and the Allies or was Total War the only option?
It's true what they say in Modern Warfare 3 it takes one single man to change the world it almost sounds like this one man can change the world forever. In the Pacific war of World War 2.
Well-done, and I especially appreciated how you revealed how Pres Woodrow Wilson’s racism played a big part in causing Tojo’s inveterate distrust of and hatred of the West… I would have liked to see you further explain how at the end of the Meiji Period, there was an almost total dehiscence between the civil government of Japan and the two largely autonomous branches of the military: the IJA and Kwantung Army on the one hand; and the IJN on the other. This “politico-bureaucratic nightmare-much more than any purported “lack of willpower” or skill-contributed to Prime Minister Konoe’s fall from power. He was truly Japan’s last hope for peace, yet even American Secretary of State Hull knew Konoe’s “authority” over the IJA and IJN was severely limited, and that negotiations and agreements with him were thus largely pointless.
As a Chinese, I was educated that Hideki Tojo was a monster figure same as Hitler. From this document, I feel that Tojo was a bit impatient for the war with the US and underestimated the power and might of the US. And I also feel that maybe CCP is making the same mistake by siding with Russia for invading Ukraine. China has not prepared for a total showdown with the western, yet China will be dragged into diplomatic isolation by the Russians.

I know during and after the war that Tojo was considered the same way that Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and Franco were, as dictators. A fairly recent documentary portrayed him as such. I don't think this is so. The Japanese had their own thing going. Tojo was not a dictator and the Japanese were not fascist. Now I am not saying they were any less evil. Many things were similar but not the same. But trying to square peg/round hole Japan as a fascist dictatorship will not help a person understand what actually happened. Japan had a very unusual and complex way of governing themselves. Tojo was actually kicked out during the war. That don't happen to dictators. Japanese society and government was really pretty crazy and I'm still trying to figure it out.
One detail that almost everyone gets wrong, Hirohito did not approve anything, it is approved in his name, and only unanimous decisions of the cabinet can be brought before the Emperor for "approval' which was nothing more than fiction, the Emperor couldn't actually veto any of the decisions. Neither Hirohito, nor any representative of the imperial family, was even allowed to be in the cabinet meetings, much less vote. There is only one instance where Hirohito attended a cabinet meeting, and he did speak, it was in August 1945 and the war cabinet was still split evenly on whether to continue the war, the suggestion was that the divine presence would have them reach a conclusion, the vote was still split evenly, at a prearranged signal, the peace faction asked Hirohito what his wishes were, and Hirohito said surrender. This actually resulted in the assassination of members of the war cabinet, and an attempted kidnapping of Hirohito and the murder of a number of the emperor's security detail.
@@No_Anime_No_Life. Revenge? The Japanese had already invaded Manchuria and not to mention all the massacres they did to the Chinese during their invasion (Rape of Nanking for example). Millions of Chinese people had died and The Chinese had to flood their own rivers (The Yellow River flood of 1938), destroy their own cities and infastructure in order to not give the japanese anything and halt the Japanese army's advance. It was a war of survival for the chinese. and The Tunghcow massacre is nothing compared to all the war crimes the Japanese committed across asia for "revenge" or "liberation from imperialists". And The place where Tunghcow is is Chinese land where the Japanese also created a puppet state.
I can see why everyone quotes Yamamoto's sentiment after attacking the US instead. Tojo's statement of being relived sorta shows how disconnected he was from the reality of the situation. But Yamamoto did it anyway, because he too was loyal to the emperor.

In the manga, Shinomiya Zaibatsu, run by the main heroine's family is said to be worth around 200 trillion yen. 200 yen is about 1.50 USD. But yeah, I'd imagine how the 1980's would look like had the zaibatsus stayed intact. I could imagine Japanese try to make a purchase of the whole Kurils after the fall of USSR and Japan overtake America in the 1990's as no.1 economy.

Yoooo I just finished WW2 in Color haha great timing! Tojo had to make one of the hardest decisions in History. I'm not saying he was a good man because he definitely wasn't... But after the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, the domestic Japanese government wanted to surrender but the Japanese Imperial Military leaders did not. Tojo was called to decide the fate of Japan. During this time, I believe Nagasaki was bombed and it was deemed Unnecessary.
@@hubris6567 pretty much, I find it sad that the soviets decided to invade from the north at the end of it all as well just so they could have a seat at peace talks and maybe get a slice of Japan in the process
Another factor missing is that Russia was at their back door. If the bombs weren’t dropped, Japan could have been divided North and South. Russia would have definitely occupied the smaller northern islands that they claimed belongs to Russia. I lived in Japan for awhile, many Japanese had mixed feelings regarding the atomic bombs being used. Some believed they saved Japan from the Russians, who knows. My father fought in the pacific and witnessed the fanaticism of the Japanese. As far as he is concerned, the bombs saved American and Japanese lives. Japan was well prepared for an invasion. A documentary should be made on the amount of Japanese armaments discovered and how the population was trained to fight.
Thanks for this vid. I’ve only known Tojo in a very limited scope, mostly as “japans hitler”. This was very illuminating and I would gladly watch more biographical vids on the condition that they are perhaps more obscure figures, or perhaps less known. As in by this point I know more about the personal lives of nazi high command than I want to, but I don’t know Shit about Russian generals or Charles de gale (not even how to spell his name)
This video shows that japan did not have a clear charismatic dictator like Hitler, but rather just could not stop the atmosphere of wanting war. Neither Tojo nor the emperor was the dictator, it was the military as a whole that dragged japan to war.

This story cannot be underestimated
This is an important point in solving the brainwashing of the people.
"Recognizing brainwashing" is important for cancellation.

⬛MacArthur talks about the Japanese:
"If we measure with modern civilization,
if we are 45, the Japanese are like a 12-year-old boy.
The Japanese can accept new models and new ideas.
It is possible to instill a basic concept in Japan.
By nature, they are endowed with the ability to flexibly accept new concepts. "
🔷 Harry S. Truman
"We keep monkeys (Japanese) in a cage named'False Freedom'.
The method only needs to give them some luxury and convenience. And release sports, screens and sex (3S).
Now you can turn your eyes away from the truth.
Because monkeys are our livestock.
Livestock contribute to us as our masters Naturally.
Therefore, the body of livestock, which is also our property,
You have to make it longevity. Make them sick (with chemicals, etc.)
and keep them alive.
This will keep us harvesting.
This is also the authority of the victorious country. "
⬛ Also, on August 11, President Truman left the following comment in response to the telegram of the US-Christian Church Federation's protest against the dropping of the atomic bomb.

⬛ Professor Emeritus Shoichi Watanabe of Sophia University said,
"Now is the truth of the'Pal Judgment'that cuts off the view of the history of the Tokyo trial."
Summary The following two points are listed at the beginning, and the Tokyo Tribunal is claimed to be invalid.
Really interesting.
(1) The prosecution's side at the Tokyo Tribunal said, "This is a judgment of civilization, and by punishing the leader of the war of aggression, we will deter the outbreak of war in the future.
The claim that "it has the purpose of making the international community safe" is that the Korean War broke out "before the ink of the sentence was fragile."
It collapsed with the participation of many countries in the world.
It is the end of the war between the judges of the Tokyo Tribunal.
It is not a "civilization trial" at all.
(2) Marshal MacArthur, who made the court ordinance (charter) of the Tokyo Tribunal,
At the beginning of May 1945, just two and a half years after the execution of the so-called Class A war criminals,
At the Senate Military Tribunal Joint Committee, one of the supreme institutions on military diplomacy in the United States,
he officially testified to completely deny the Tokyo Tribunal.
⬛MacArthur concludes by testifying:
”Their (Japanese) purpose, therefore, in going to war was largely dictated by security.」
The reason why the Tribunal Ordinance was created in the first place is that "at that time, there was no international law to establish the Tokyo Tribunal."
MacArthur himself, who made the court ordinance, said, "Japan did not have a war of aggression.
It was a self-defense war. "
Chief Prosecutor Keenan was involved in the drafting of the Court Ordinance.
This is also a completely unjustified story,
and it is a proof that the prosecutor's accusation was a trial that was decided according to the prosecutor's statement,
such as making provisions for the trial.
About the MacArthur Ordinance (Charter) Judge Pal denounced the words "killing civilization" as follows.
"To make a so-called trial according to the definition of crime given today by the winner is kills the centuries-old civilization that lies between our time and the old days of the immediate killing of the losers. "
I wonder why these scholars continue to say that Japan has invaded.
And do you call the Imperial Army racism to Europe?
I'm not sure.
Japan opposed the invasion of the Christian world and the Asian colonies of white supremacists ...
Thailand and Japan were the only independent countries at that time ...
From the perspective of Japan, the guardian deity of Asia,
they are the same as the CCP now ...
⬛ According to international law, the United States Lose the position of questioning Pearl Harbor to Japan at the time of military aid to China.
However, the United States was a coward who started a war by doing a military business behind the war with "remember" and always promoting "the other party as a coward" ...Sneak Attack ☺️

Tojo KNEW that the Emperor won't approve a royal family member to be Prime Minister. He's just using it to "ascend" to the top, knowing the Emperor will favour him.
Well played.
And it has the same energy as Nobunaga owned the Ashikaga Shogunate tbh.
Haha.

Strong loyalty we give our King....
It's basically all Woodrow Wilson's fault in the US. Horrible president.

Why do I feel like Woodrow Wilson had something to do with every big problem of his time?
Hideki tojo one of the most brutal and aggressive commanders of japan. He led Japan into war and conquered most of pacific. Brillant leadership. Also notoriously committed lot of war crimes. Hahaha

But they knew it wouldn’t be just the US. They did fear the American’s ability to mobilize for war.
@@a.mathis9454 There was no fear. There was only a concern from some officers, that a war against the States had to be quick.
Which will be achieved easily, because US soldiers were no match against the battle hardenend soldiers and pilots. And that the US public wanted only peace, did not support war.

Well-done, and I especially appreciated how you revealed how Pres Woodrow Wilson’s racism played a big part in causing Tojo’s inveterate distrust of and hatred of the West…
I would have liked to see you further explain how at the end of the Meiji Period, there was an almost total dehiscence between the civil government of Japan and the two largely autonomous branches of the military: the IJA and Kwantung Army on the one hand; and the IJN on the other.
Bonus points for your use of "dehiscence"
I wanna use this for a paper. Can I get a source page or smth?

In fact, it is said that when Fumimaro Konoe throw away his regime in October 1941 whoever be next prime minister could not avoid the war against U.S.
@@sakaimachi9860 To me Tojo was just the next guy in line. There was no cult of personality.

Doing it for the algorithm God.
