I been saying this for donkeys year. A guy can leave all the way from Finland and travel all over the Caribbean with no proof of a return ticket. There is a big disconnect between the people of the islands and Africa, main thing in common is skin colour and some similar foods. Caricom is still not working the way in should, ecowas is still not working the way it should. We got to get over these hurdles.

Hi African tigress . Unfortunately it’s not really the Airline fault. The issue is that if you are refused immigration clearance in your destination country , the Airline will have to pay the cost of taking you to your normal country of residence regardless of your onward journey
It’s what airlines do to safeguard their interest.
It’s always advisable to have an onward ticket to the country of your normal residence regardless of if you have a ticket to another destination, they want to see your ticket to your usual country of residence
Smaller countries are not able to finance shortfalls as the bigger countries are that is why they insist on this

Airlines try their best to avoid these costs. My question to you is, does an onward ticket have a date of departure or is it an open ticket

Barbadians 🇧🇧 are highly educated with a 99 percent literacy rate. In addition, Barbados 🇧🇧 has much variety depending upon the Coast. One region may be calm for swimming while the other is more fit for surfing 🏄‍♀️. There are also areas where you are warned not to swim, just like any where you travel in the world, you must proceed with caution when entering any body of water 😉 I hope you can travel and see that for yourself.

Europe has no reason to suspect you, remember getting a European or an American visa for an AFRICAN is an expensive process with many Africans having their visa applications rejected( multiple times!) The Africans who travel to the west are the privileged FEW and airports know this. However, try entering Europe without a visa and it’s a WHOLE different story, even if your a refugee seeking a place of safety. So no Europe is not better, they just make it EXTREMELY difficult for many Africans to get a visa in the first place.

It’s not just a Caribbean airlines issue. A Ghanaian TH-camr Ekow Simpson said that when travelling to South Africa, Ethiopian airlines said he had to pay $100(deposit)to them or they wouldn’t allow him to board. The airlines reasoning was that many Africans abscond when they arrive in SA. We as Africans really need to do better, self hate is real.

that guy is new to that because Ghana just got a visa free to south africa, it has always been like that for many years in south africa case, it is south africa way of indirectly asking for visa fee from visa free countries to south africa, just like Emirate and etihad airline getting you a visa to the UAE with ease if you are flying with them but you pay double of using ethiopian or rwanda air flying to dubai, countries like singapore immigration will call your hotel to make sure you paid for the hotel not just reservation and make check how much you are holding, all these are strategies of getting money into there economy, now in case of caribbean airline making her buy ticket to africa is hate, they will never ask an australian showing onward ticket to dominica or belize to proof he or she is returning to australia. i think europe is more welcoming now to africa than the caribbeans.i live in europe and i move without being questioned, and check content of youtuber from africa like Tayo Aina and Tigress catching flights in europe like catching taxi, some people needs education

@parachuteboi Well, to be honest, I don't know anything about Jamaican immigration law.
In other countries such as the UK, France, Canada, and the USA ,when, for example, a French national travels to the US or Canada as a visa free visitor, they don't have to show a return ticket .
I am Canadian originally from Africa, and whenever I go to France or the UK, THEY HAVE NEVER EVER ASKED ME A RETRUN TICKET .
I respect Jamaica. If that's the case over there, so be it .

Our African passports have some inconveniences for us. For me, I can now travel on my Aussie passport anywhere without being inconvenienced. Anyway, plse, enjoy Jamaica & forgive the Caribbean airlines lady who was either ignorant or was just following her company rules to avoid losing her job.

And this don’t happen with any other carriers right, is that what you’re trying to tell me, or are you one of the many air jamaica loyalist who hate CAL forever??
Yeah CAL and their workers could be a handful I do admit, and yes some extra training just might be what the doctor ordered, and it’s also true that leaving trinidad is never short of its fair share of bumps and nicks, but I fly CAL because they do serve a purpose, and it’s not all bad sailing.
I really cringed the day that Patrick manning decided to buy out air jamaica, I thought that it was better left alone, I also foreseen the negative implications that could come out of it which could potentially damage the relationship between these two island who’s had an oil and water relationship from time immemorial.

I am a well travelled Trini and have not ever been asked by any airline to show my return ticket specifically back to my home country if I was planning to travel on to another destination (s). Whether a travel vlogger, backpacker, digital nomad etc., multi destination travel is quite common these days. Later on they went back to her, given her things back and let her go to her flight.

An onward ticket to a visa free country or to a country you need a visa for (if you have the visa already stamped) should have been sufficient. Reason airlines usually particular is because incase one is denied entry in destination country, the airline that brought you in is responsible for your deportation. Which in this instance was 99% not an option since Jamaica is visa free for Kenyans. Anywho, this drama comes with the package of travelling on a "weak 3rd world country" passport. Pole

If your onward ticket was for Panama or Central America, due to the current migration crisis then the airline will ask for additional itineraries to prove you are not heading north to the USA plus also complying with the requirement to allow passengers to enter Ja.
Since you had to purchase an expensive ticket at last minute, some airlines allow you to cancel within 24 hrs and get back a full refund.
