Hi Esther! Inspiring video as usual. I also want to thank you for the exploration of card of the month, that has been taking me so deep this summer. I do not know if I have a tarot obsession, but only 2 decks in my beloved collection of tarot decks has given me strong physical reactions, when seeing them first. The first one is Wild Messengers Alchemical tarot, I started to cry when looking at the cards, a reaction I did not expect at all, bought the deck mostly for its book. The other one is Tarot of the sidhe, I feel scared of it, it feels so strong, so I do not use it. I do not have a problem with the cardstock, and I like shiny decks, but there is something in that deck that I feel very drawn to, but is avoiding, so thanks for talking about your relationship with it. I also had one of the most wonderful experience I have ever had with tarot with this deck, it was in my hardest time in life and I felt I was sinking, falling, loose myself. And the 9 of wands in Tarot of the Sidhe saved me, I feel like, I kept pulling that card over and over again and it held me and stopped me from falling, sinking into the big Abyss, sort of like Jona beeing saved from sinking in oscean by being picked up and transported in the whales tummy. Thanks again for now!
Wow, Lena! Thank you - and what a fabulous note! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with the Sidhe. Beautiful. Also… I hear you about Wild Messengers. That deck has really spoken to me when I’ve seen images of it online, but i’ve not managed to find a copy of it - i missed it when it was available…
@@MindfulTarot I found one Wild Messenger in a fb Tarot group, I Hope one will find its way to you too. And Tarot of the Sidhe, I used it a short time, then put it away and have been waiting for the right time, I wonder if its now? Much love to you 🙋♀️
I’m so happy for this video from you! That deck is so special to me too and I haven’t heard any one deal with its rawness and powerful spiritual call/struggle .., the kind of commitment it demands .. I’ve been working with it for myself a lot this year but I had to go through a similar process : the way you describe her suit of Fire the mono focus the warrior as coming to boddhisattva energy is loosely how I managed to make sense of the intensity of this suit and deck. I got thinking and meditating around Arjuna and the nature of the battle in the Bhagavad-Gita too..thank you so much 🦋🙏
@@MindfulTarot I'll let you know! I got it initially for its strong celtic connection, the sign of the Sidhe itself, but also the ferocious transformational imagery. I needed a sort of booster to jump through my own hoops as it were :) thanks as ever for your vids and thoughts
Yes-you do! Why we connect. What is it about these cards that are so insightful, inspiring and spooky in a good way? Can’t leave them alone. They frustrate me and teach me. Love it.
I feel you! 😂👏 So frustrating when you're drawn to a deck, but it's not quite......."perfect"! Im a huge tarot obsessed fan! The deck I keep reaching for is the Circle of Doors Tarot🖤 love it so much! Images, cardstock, colors......❤️🔥so good! While I love the images of the Tarot of Mystical Moments....the card stock is glossy, and sticks when trying to shuffle it.....blech😝
I hear you 100% about Mystical Moments. That's another one I've been tempted to photograph and reprint.... Hm. I'm curious now about the Circle of Doors... - Thanks for writing!
Awesome , thanks! I love The Tarot of the Shide, and like you, hate the cardboard, big frames, and glossy surface. The cards tend to stick together. But, this is an amazing deck and there's nothing like it out there,it has its own, very strong personality and energy. But it provides excellent info, it's not harsh, it is clear and to the point and it is encouraging. I have also found out that it tends to warn you about shady people in your life and I guess bad works on you, if you believe in those things. I love the deck and wrote the author to let them know. I wish the deck would be issued again but with a different publisher. Sigh.
My tarot obsession is my previously loved vintage 1970 version of the 1 JJ Swiss Tarot. I searched for this deck for quite awhile. I found the deck on Etsy. It came in the original box, the cards are bowed from frequent use, and I love that the cards are in the French language. In general, my obsession/preference is for TDM, Italian and non scenic pip decks. Vincent Pitisci ‘s Tarot of Marseilles deck is a favourite, I also love and have several versions of the Trionfi Della Luna tarot decks by Deviant Moon Inc.
My obsession is Mythologia Fennica Tarot. As a child I've bought Kalevala book, I was obsessed by different mythologies then, but it was too difficult to read for a child. It was over thirty years ago, but I've never gotten rid of this book and still have it in my library. Few years ago I saw a walk through of this unusual deck and was immediately caught by its images, however they were so different that I was afraid I wouldn't be able to read with it. Since then, strangely, this deck was popping up from time to time. Now I've finally bought it. I got goosebumps when I opened the box. Those archetypes speak deeply to my soul. I'm mad at myself that I was waiting for so long to get it!
Thank you for this video Esther! I have this deck seating on a very special place under a beautiful cristal yet I do not reach for it. What is it? I find it to be incredibly shamanic and psychedelic and I be believe that to be the very thing that being us all in: an archetypal and universal experience of the psyche through the lenses of the Sidhe. Very unique, porwerful and poetic deck. It feels like magic every single time! Much love and thank you again for you wonderful content!
I totally feel you about being drawn to certain cultural traditions that don’t directly relate to one’s identity. Lately, I’ve been receiving dreams indicating a connection to the fae and Celtic pantheon. I do have some Celtic and welsh ancestry although I am African American. And I wonder if there are unknown Celtic ancestors trying to connect. So I’ve been looking for a fae deck that resonates. Still looking. Thanks for sharing!
I always enjoy your vids, but this one compelled me to comment. I find it fascinating that you are "obsessed" with the Sidhe, but have kept her at arms length all this time! So close, but not read with. Perhaps you suspect the shadow you spoke of lurks in the depths of the Sidhe?
Thank you Esther for this wonderful and deeply investigative and experiential tarot obsession curtain draw-back!!!! I have bought, trimmed and edged and traded this deck twice and think about getting it again regularly! I love all things Faery-I raised my urban boys on fairy lore) ( I have Emily's book on Faerys in my large fairy book collection ) and Celtic ideas and stories of the Sidhe make total sense to me in an earth-centric and animistic spiritual way. Their mischief and earth guardianship speak to the duality of good humans doin naughty things to their mother in the name of their father- there are so many rich archetypal themes! I just kind of can't handle Emily's artwork and the Shiffer cardstock comboI would probably give it another try if your MPC dexk magical replicated itself in your zen den in the night and slipped up the I-5 from your place to mine!! Thank you so much for your playful and intellectual approach to all things mindful tarot!!!! My ( current) tarot obsession is the Hermit, in all the many illustrations and meanings that we're blessed with- I just did a webinar with Kasia Kul exploring the astrology connections in Tarot and my moon in Virgo connects me to the Hermit I am currently planning an art piece with a huge branch walking stick I found in the forest based on the meditation journey we went on with Kasia in the webinar. I will be burning the wood with eye images and painting them for an embodied Hermit "prop". I find making art around my tarot interests is my longest standing obsession. Whether it's journaled pages, collage, or other artwork, I am obsessed with using the cards to add visual dimension and archetypal and symbolic depth to my seemingly ordinary life. Fave decks right now: Tarot de St. Croix, Brady, Thoth ( I trimmed a MM to the images which is super exciting but I LOVE my greenie) and always always, my blushing fool RWS with the waxy vintage cardstock and NO copy write on the cards!! Morgan Greer and Rainbow Heart Tarot are for teenage me and so many more. My collection IS my tarot obsession! Hugs!!!!! Thank YOU for YOUR practice❤
@@MindfulTarot I completely understand your thing with this deck. I love it but I can’t work with card stock as bad as this. I hope the book helps. It’s a nice, easy read. Very insightful and beautiful at times.
@@thestoneinsidethecaveI’ve googled, but couldn’t be sure which book you’re referring to here. Would you mind sharing? John Matthews is certainly prolific!
I think my Tarot Obsession is The Santa Muerte Tarot by Fabio Listrani. I luv the artwork, and every centimeter of each card has something to say, but mostly my monthly and weekly readings with the deck say, "Someone is going to stab you in the back, and here's how." Useful advice, but I'm going to take a break from it until Samhain, study the Tarot with some other decks, and come back to it after it's spent some time charging/refreshing itself on my Santa Muerte altar.
Interesting! Well - it is Santa Muerte after all!! - but yes maybe some gentler, more flowers-and-butterfly decks are needed to refresh your practice!!
Oddly enough, the Santa Muerte Tarot by Fabio Listrani has a lot of flowers and Butterflies. I'm working with The Hoodoo Tarot now, until Halloween at least. It's quite a bit darker, and not just the artwork.
The card a coward betrays is what I get when there's someone I'll meaning or selfish around. 😮 I wrote my other comment before hearing this part! This is the card I get for warnings. 😳 Wow!
My tarot obsession is with the Pierpont-Morgan Visconti-Sforza deck. I’ve acquired way more editions (though by no means all) of this deck than any human needs in my search for the “perfect” replacements for the missing Devil and Tower cards. 😂🤣
This is fabulous. I adore that deck too, I wish they redo it someday 😊
Awesome 💕 I am obsessed with that deck too, but do not use it because of the same reason you had. I wish I could do what you did.
Thanks for sharing 💕
Such a fantastic deck! I love it too!
I have a deck that’s over 50 years old… pretty cool
Which one? Do you read with it??? - thanks for watching and writing!
Also totally curious what 50 yr. old deck. 🌻
