Portugal, like many countries, speaks English as their second language. Sense English is the most spoken language across the world, the devs probably thought it would be better to make the game in English from the ground up for the sake of marketability. This seems to be a common thing that a lot of indie devs do, which I think is pretty neat. And as for the Japanese, well you can probably guess that from the game's art style.

@@csolisr From what I've seen there actually is an option to have the characters speak in Japanese. So it's kind of like being able to choose between a sub and dub for an anime, it's just that in this case the Japanese version is technically the dub while English is the original language. And as for Germany, well the best way I can explain that is how disney movies such as Aladdin and Mulan take place in other countries, but the characters still speak English because the movies are made in America, a country that speaks English. The same can be said about anime that take place outside of Japan. Even if an anime takes place in New York or something the characters will still speak Japanese because that's Japan's main language, and they don't really have a second language after that. So if you just look at this game in the same way it probably won't seem as weird. Plus for all I know their could be a German option as well and I just haven't seen it yet.

In the wizard of oz novel it was silver shoes and the movies made it "ruby slippers" because of colour film novelty. But the author was probably influenced by the red shoes to add the magic slippers although the red shoes are more of a curse to it's girl.
For any Pocket Mirror fans viewing this : Did you notice that the color schemes for the main cast are the same as PM? (specifically the first Minuten puzzle where you have to collect five marbles in order to escape) Red - Goldia and Elise Green - Fleta and Freya Blue - Harpae and Lebkuchen Purple - Lisette and Rozenmarine Gold - Enjel and 'Him' Coincidence? I think not!!

I just finished the game and then this drops with me having tears from the ending, the opening is so beautiful specially the animation , and now it hits differently.

In order to properly enjoy the game, you have to interact with the townsfolk as often as possible - it's so easy to deride Elise as a headstrong and greedy fool who brought nothing but calamity upon herself and those she loved, but in my opinion the game does effectively illustrate the bleak misery that is her daily life, thus providing a convincing motive for her ill-advised decisions and humanizing Elise as an anti-villain A good portion of the townsfolk are either downright jerkasses, or unwittingly insensitive and patronizing One memorable exchange that served as an example of the latter was Old Man Wilhelm's (one of the friendlier ones) response to Elise after an S-rank in Chicken Frenzy, good-naturedly wishing that his 60 tiffel could contribute towards a roast pig dinner. In response, Elise miserably thinks to herself that it would be barely enough for a wurst... I made sure to purchase a turkey on St. Walpurga's Day after that
Yup. I mean these people have known Elise since she was a baby yet they're so easy to be suspicious of her to be a witch. It's like a Salem Stardew Valley.

It presents us with multiple dilemmas to solve before we decide how to feel about the game. It's not your usual "witch hunt is bad" and "the woman who was accussed of witchery was only a goodhearted soul that helped everyone".
I remember getting a c rank on chicken frenzy and the mother person who I thought up until then was nice, complained about not having enough eggs for her son to eat. Like, there's 20-30 eggs for him??

This is a very good introduction. I especially love the churches with octagonal towers. And I also love ringing bells. The characters are wearing very beautiful clothes. This looks as though it were an excellent anime series. I will watch it soon. And I am already looking forward to it.

９０年代の少女アニメ感を目指したそうだけど、再現度が高過ぎる。正直フルアニメのテーマソングの動画がオススメに挙がってきたんかと勘違いしたわ。そしてこれが２０２４年の、しかも海外のゲーム会社の作品だと知ってさらに驚いた。
