- The deaths of five people including a child while attempting to cross the English Channel underlines the need for the deterrent of the Rwanda scheme, Rishi Sunak has said.
The tragedy off the coast of northern France came just hours after Parliament passed legislation aimed at putting the Rwanda asylum scheme into effect.
The Prime Minister said criminal gangs were exploiting the vulnerable and “packing more and more people into these unseaworthy dinghies”.

The impotence of the French and the British in this latest tragedy with 5 dead is mind-boggling. The French did not stop the boat launch because to intervene might be too dangerous. The British may as well have sent out engraved invitations for more people attempt the crossing. Both are adopting a "zero risk" approach which is resulting in more deaths. There is nothing "compassionate" about this level of institutional spinelessness.
Its one big con, from sunak

Exactly I have noticed this part of the plan has not been mentioned we have to take a vulnerable person back so where are they going to live ? benefits/ medical care it seems we in this country are the biggest losers in more ways than one

I’ve seen a suggestion that Rishi should offer Brits £1million to leave the UK and let an Asylum seeker live here. Maybe some of the 800k saving could be used to help suffering Brits?
Even if you don't get admission into the hospital after waiting a long time, you still need Rishi Sunak to go.
the government has got over 300 million to spend on sending migrants abroad but there isn't sufficient money to support the NHS which is collapsing and people aren't getting enough care. Moreover, migrants are beneficial when they work hospitality and minimum-paying jobs so that the white Brits can enjoy a pint at the local pub. But when it comes to the climate emergency and the aftermath of colonialism forcibly displacing these people suddenly the UK can't take it anymore...

It's not about the money when it comes to lives. Rawandans will be safer and better off in Rawanda than hostilities faced in UK.
Since Rwanda has promised to accept them, will they be able to colonise Rwanda and open up the country for the UK? They should.

Here's how it actually works. Currently they come over during daylight hours sail into ports and hand themselves over the government then have to house / support them and record / publish their numbers. Now however they will have to sneak over at night vanish into the countryside and support themselves. No numbers will be recorded so illegal immigration will look like its falling as will the cost of housing them. Rwanda is about getting them to not show on the figures not actually solve anything nor deter anyone.
Rwanda scheme is not a gimmick as it's not yet implemented..

@walterrudich2175 The Henry Jackson society has published a report on Labour's policies. On immigration Labour are still uncertain on what to do. Starmers 'flagship' policy of a returns deal with the EU is impossible without us accepting a quota, which will probably mean a higher net figure of immigration than we have now.
