On what basis do you claim an effect on the engine if silencer is changed before 2000kms? I have owned 3 RE's in past 7 years and had changed all the exhausts on Day 1. I am yet to face any engine issue in over 7 years and in fact fuel efficiency has been healthy at 37kmpl in city and 46kmpl on highway. Just follow the run-in period and keep maintaining and servicing your bike regularly. It will keep serving you well.
Jason Byrne .. exceptions are always there, my friends experience, companies norms, company guys tell every customer the same what I have told u, these are the basis I conveyed the info. Also, even now the RE guy told me last week that the parts take engine oil more when you fir after market silencer. Hope its clear to you
Thanks Maddy Rider for sharing your source of info. I think the RE guys really need to learn how a silencer works before making such tall claims and scaring people. A silencer's core function is taking away hot gas from the engine, it has nothing to do with how the engine uses engine oil. Any new engine will always use more oil than normal, attributing this extra consumption to the silencer is just absurd.

I am to buy a RE, but before that wanted to explore people's experience. Watched 10+ videos strongly suggesting that exhaust change can have a huge impact on the engine especially if done before a certain miles run. Every Enfield "guru" has his own idea about the miles to be run before exhaust can be changed. One said 5000 Kilometers, here it is 2000 Kms . Nobody so far has revealed their source of information but I think everyone is claiming this based on other's experience. I personally feel that there should be no or minimal impact on the engine but I understand that exhaust systems have to follow the engineering principles. Somewhere I read about some "back pressure" thing, but I couldn't understand much of it. If anyone has clear knowledge about this, may share the right information.
Personally, I want to change the exhaust on day one and will go by your experience. Will take a chance.
I changed my silence at 15km . At showroom on day1. Now its 20000km crossed in 3 years. I never face any problem. I got 40kmpl avg. My bike is Re electra 350.

I have a thunderbird 2013 model , spoke wheel ,and is giving me a mileage of 38 to 40kmpl with harlet type silencer installed, i love the sound and thump in it
genuine information.I have been using my thunderbird since 2015.I have good mileage around 34-35 kmpl(city/highways)...I am using spread light of allextreme 6 led per unit...and using amaron dry cell with stock silencer..just installed himalayan windshield and rd350 handlebar...fully synthetic engine oil is very good and within 3000 kms i change the engine oil shell liqui moly or castrol cruise 1 with that keeping in mind to change the air filter and oil filter...Checking electrical wirings,cleaning carburettor changing tyres changing clutch wires and brake pads along with brake fluid...cleaning with lubricating chain with chain brush and microfiber cloth during color. protectant are the must...Much to say....every bulletiers are different...Its my perspective on bike and care

Brother My honest suggestion never buy Dessert Storm because I use one. It sucks!. At first two years you will not have any issues. Later it will shower with issues. Pls do not buy 500 cc,it has EFI( electronic fuel injection ). If your EFI is gone its costs Rs 14k. And you will have engine bore problem after two years. It will cost you Rs 14K again. So think and buy

My battery is 4 years old with extra blinkers. The only way I maintain is I kickstart it every morning.
The only problem is the mileage which have reduced from past 6 months need to check on it or else it was always more than 35km/l
Nice vdo.. point no 1.. go for ceramic wool exhaust.. it's much better than glasswool.. point no 2 and 3 are right.. there are some more mistakes of some RE owners.. 4. Stop half clutch riding.. learn to control your bull with throttle.. 5. Clean and lube your RE chain every 500kms .. 6. Your tyre pressure should be 23-25psi front.. and 32-35psi rear for better grip and millage. 7. On the tym of cold start of your bull.. kick that starting lever 3-4 time.without switching on the ignition.. it will circulate the engine oil throughout your engine.. then start your bike.. and leave it idle for 30secs to 1 min.. it will increase RE' s engine life.. 8. Best and economical cruising speed of your bull is 50km/hr to 65km/hr.. I am getting a millage of 38-42km/lit on my classic 350.. that's all.
Bhai Sab bakwas h ye Maine classic 350 li thi next day hi silencer and all modification krvai and it's all good.. And it's mileage is nearby 40-42 km/l

I did all 3 mistakes .
I bought a new royal enfield classic desert storm 500 cc ,changed its silencer at just 200 kms and revved it to the fullest ,inspite of regular maintainence from authorised royal enfield service center my bike engine had a crank problem at just 10000 kms and it costed me 20K to fix it from authorised service centre.
I truly regret my mistake and i was very depressed to see my bike in such a condition, so friends please treat your bike with the respect she deserves and do what this guy says.

All have aftermarket exhaust in first weak no problem at all.
All Bullet models are meant for modification and customization.

Avenger or thunderbird for city ,office and occasionally long tourer ...looking at bullet maintainance feel very confused even avenger dont know about maintaince ... me using suzuki fiero 150cc for all purpose its been 18 years still goun good . Only minor problems and need to upgrade could you suggest any other bikes too

mohan kumar if you want to do long rides, go for Classic or Thunderbird 500.. Maintenance is 1.5k per 2 months, plus chain lube costs around 500rs which will last for 2 months.. So total around 2k..

And what about excess throttle when bike is 1 years old.. Or do u mean only when bike is new???? I think u never said dont excess throttle on new n old emfield.. My gunmetal is about 1 year. So what if i simply excess throttle? U think that will reduce bike millage?

2000 Bohuth kam hai bhai. Engine set nahi hota. 3 services ke baad change karo.
1St service 500Km
2Nd 3000Km
3Rd 6000Km. 6000Km be bohuth kam hai. 15000Km ke baad silencer change kar raha tho acha hai. Bcoz bike ka engine acha tarha se set hoga. Uska baad achi quality silencer daalna. Which has glass wool.

Mere pass bhi 350 classic hai aur free flow silencer hai,,, long bottle, small mouth... aur mere bike ka average 36-40 kmpl deti hai... but main 60-65 ki speed se above nhi chalata, except overtaking.

Handle change karwana hai. By any chance, the handle bars are available in the company or is is has to be purchased from outside. I am also facing a lot of problem with back and shoulder pain with original handle bars, hence not able to enjoy the ride. Will it have any issues with the warranty if the handle bar is changed through a local garage and not the royal enfield company itself?

any kind of alterations are banned in KERALA and last week my cousin's silencers were broke by rto and got a fine of 1000 he said in KERALA you are only allowed to change colour of the vehicle by the permission from rto office

Alloy and spoke wheel comparison is not convincing. Adventure bikes come with alloy wheels also. Alloy wheel that the manufacturer has given you is ideal and sometimes more robust than spokes, I 've seen a lot of spokes rim aberrations for a bike which climbed a tough terrain.
However, alloy wheels or any other parts that are an add-on or modified has no guarantee.

I never swift on wherever i drive.. Whenever i put fuel like 5 litres i always swift to reserve.. So my question is, is it bad to keep on reserve all the time???
Hi Bro thanks for the information,the video is to late, i bought my bile in March :(, i already did the first mistake, i changed the silencer in my RE gun metal and i ride for 2200 kms :( is there any way to preventive steps to come to normal.
Changing stock silencer is RC violation and it's against the law..

What you have said is very much true.
It will only break your warranty that's it. If you use an aftermarket exhaust with filter then this will be not against rules and you don't have to pay any fine

Hi Maddy i have seen your RE thunderbird 350x vs 350 review and i brought RE 350x red color last week (7th Aug 2019) from first day itself i see starting problem and when i visit showroom they said its a problem with all RE 350x bikes so don't fill the fuel more than 8 ltr before first service. and they said it will get resolve after first service. But still i see issue with my bike even when i have less than 5 ltr of fuel. Is this true all the bikes had same issue in the beginning and will it get resolve after first service?? waiting for your reply....
