watching this playthrough made me realise that I’m not insane for still liking this game nearly ten years later xD - it’s not amazing, but it is a joy, especially if you play the Wii U version
I remember when I was younger I saw a few videos of Sonic Lost World. I was obsessed with the Zeti. It recently popped back into my head. Glad to see some recent attention.
little tips for getting S ranks, you can charge the spin dash by mashing jump while charging (thats ZL + Mash A, then release ZL) you can then chain spin dashes by holding ZL after you launch, single jumping while holding ZL in the middle of a spin dash has you instantly recharge the spin dash and youll go really fast this way, but keep in mind, double jumping discharges the chain, so know when to double jump and trust single jumps. pressing ZL while wall climbing to spin dash up the wall a little more, and do it while wall running to gain extra height and reach taller areas. theres a difference between homing attacking and homing kicking. kicking allows you to launch smaller enemys safley away, flip bigger enemys or stun them outright. if you need any more tips, just ask me.
15 year old me didn’t like this game much since it felt like it was “betraying” itself by copying Mario and the story was too kiddy for my tastes. Nowadays, I can enjoy it for the lighthearted, casual platformer it is. Like you said though, super glad Sonic didn’t stay like this forever. Frontiers is definitely closer to the tone and ambition I want in my sonic games. Was really fun watching you play and enjoy this game so much though, made me appreciate it more :D
If this is copying Mario galaxy, that would be ironic because Mario galaxy was copying the space levels in Sonic Adventure 2 which was a carry over of a concept from Sonic extreme.
The impressions you had on it is a lot more favourable than the state this was released on launch for the Wii U. It had a lot of very questionable design choices that really shouldn't have been there, like getting 100 rings did NOT give you an extra life, and you were forced to use motion controls on certain sections as well as for some of the Wisps which was jank and very unrefined in this game. The charged up homing attack was really unnecessary and serves to break the pace, yet also makes all the boss fights look like a total joke as they can get beaten in two fully charged up hits, or in the case of Zor , ONE fully charged up hit! Hence why it was dropped after this game. Parkour was mostly useless as there was only one section where it was mandatory, and every other time it's automation and invisible springs throwing you around anyway, rendering it pointless unless you want to 100% the game. And the amount of instant death stuff was a bit much. Most of the issues got addressed after the patch and it is better, but the damage was already done. And this was where the dip for Sonic started; we thought after Colours and Generations that Sega and Sonic Team had a formula down and to refine further, but no, they decide to change everything up all over again and throw away the trust they built up. There's a reason the fanbase is so fractured which is their own fault really for introducing so many different gameplay styles for this series. Also, having the game rely on nostalgia again with the classic robots and the classic level themes again was not needed so soon after Generations.
honestly, they really didn't change it that much, they just decided to fully embrace what Sonic Colors wanted to do, and imo it outdid that game, it's my favorite 2010s 3D Sonic game before Generations

This game turns 10 this year
Little a-hole Tails was totally a highlight of the story and what a banger of a soundtrack

Westernsunsetproductions galaxy was in development earlier than sa2
That space level was literally the worst level in the game. Sonic may have done it first, but Mario actually made it fun.
Hi Runebee!
I mean really who thought putting that bucket brains head on him was a good idea?🙄🙄🙄😆😆😆😆

@@bonnymel4506 ur disgusting
Never played this game and probably never will kinda sad.
It’s playable on pc
@@Genesis-XE its playable on wii u too 🤯
Disappointed that everyone in chat said that this was better than a majority of 3D Sonic games
i mean if you are not a diehard fan this can be pretty fun, snappy controls, cute designs, nice graphics, good music
Sonic Galaxy game looks decent!!!
