There have been many singers with sweet voices. But Geeta Dutt had that elusive charm in her voice and the ability to convey emotion which no other singer possessed. Whether it was a light or romantic song or a sad one she sang it in a way that no other singer could . Unfortunately her marriage and the jealousy of her professional rivals finished her career. Whether in Bengali or Hindi she has left behind unforgettable music.
When I was 18 years old, I liked these songs and now I am 70 years old, I like these songs in the same manner. No change of my mind. Wonderful voice, wonderful composition wonderful writing.

I want to pay my heartfelt tribute to the melody queen my beloved Gita Dutta. Her heavenly voice enchants the world of music. When she has appeared at that time it is difficult to a woman to become a famous singer. She has presented so many different types of songs in different languages we can not count them. I have no words to express her vastness qualities. She has brightened the cultural world of music in our motherland. She is the legend of legends. I wish that her soul rest in peace and happiness.
The legend has it that voice of some singers had that rare quality that the vibrations of their singing shattered glass. Geeta Debi’s voice moved every nerve of my body from head to the soles of my feet! It was ecstatic experience to hear these songs - in her original sweet Bengali - they came from her heart! What a singer! And what wonderful singing! Thank you for sharing.
By listening these emotional songs I smell golden days of 50's, 60's and 70's once again and also get back the sweet days of my childhood days. Special Thanks to Sa Re Ga Ma for preserving the golden memories of yesteryears . I remember my parents & other close friendly relatives used to listen to these songs on a big gramophone on frequent holidays surrounded by many children including me. Geetha Roy born in Faridpur of Banglafesh in a Zamindar family in 1931. She is gifted with wonderful voice so we got ever beautiful songs from her voice she is unforgettable. I have every respect for our motherly Geeth Roy.

What a voice, what a depth of expression, never misses the purity of an emotion. With all these ornaments Getta Datta was a singer par excellence. Her voice in any song hits right into your heart, and that s because she, herself was an honest person. Unfortunately she was cheated in her life in many ways by unscrupulous persons including Sunil Dutt, a notorious & inhuman person, who married her but deserted her for reasons no one knows.
There have been copies, good and average, of every singer. But none could imitate her voice. That built in subtale Echo. Out of question for any one else.

Even Hemanta Mukhejee could not change her opinion. Even many in Bengal think that Sandhya Mukherjee is the best singer Bengal have ever produced some think she is better than Lata Mangeshkar. . And the Bengal have produced endless singers for Bollywood from Kishore Kumar to Manna Dey to Shreya Ghoshal. But one thing I have to admit Lata Mangeshkar have a mesmerizing voice and she is really nightingale of India. But Getta Dutt is born with natural talent like Kishore Kumar, they had God gifted voice , so everything flew from their voice like stream in a mountain.
