My traditional blacksmith forge

  • I show my forge - the air blower, the cast iron fire pot, the table etc. and make a coal fire. Open the full video description for more information.
    ----------------------------
    A few quick questions:
    1. What kind of fire pot is that?
Old one made in cast iron and made for blacksmithing. It's a common design. Cast iron is some of the best because it can handle a lot of heat without burning/being destroyed.
    2. What kind of air blower is that?
In my case is it one made in Denmark for the danish military. Bought it local from a private seller here in Denmark. Similar is common for blacksmithing - if you want one try to google "Hand crank forge air blower" or similar.
    3. How did you make the table?
Just loose bricks. The weight and overlaps keep it very well together.
    4. What are you burning?
Birch bark and wood as tinder. In this case coal as fuel - but use charcoal a lot as well.

@@bossbulldog1134 Nah the people who don't talk in their videos are pretentious assholes. If they can't say anything why are they showing us something. Maybe because they don't know what they're doing? Traditional... uses a hand crank blower instead of bellows, hmm.

Some nice old equipment. Hobby blacksmithing has become a little more popular here in the US lately, I believe due in some part to the tv series Forged In Fire, so prices for old equipment have gone up as well. I bought a 134# Peter Wright anvil some years ago for $100. Now used anvils are going for 2 or 3 dollars a lb. Like your shop.

@@isoljator Yeah i also really like Primitive Technology, but they are like two different "styles". PT is all about tropical stuff and really like stone age-style. But Malte is a bit more modern and also focusses on blacksmithing and he is a bit more "viking". But both of them are one of the best outdoor youtubers I've ever see.
