It's actually a lot easier than you think in this day and age, if it's China you want to go to. Just do a little bit of prep (for e.g., installing a good VPN on your phone for overseas travelers to access apps that you are used to within China), plus Google translate (by image), and you are pretty much good to go. English-Chinese translation on Google (and vise versa) is fairly powerful. And don't you worry about bypassing the Great Firewall by using your phone; ten of thousands of foreigners (and actually millions of local) do it on a daily basis in China without ever facing any problem. The authorities don't give a damn unless you are a spy or trying some shady stuff.

Every year in traditional festivals, cities like Foshan, Guangzhou will hold activities for different lion dance teams to compete, then you can see them jumping up and down on high posts and grasp the silk ball hanging on the top, which is really breath taking.
