There is so much more to the Sopranos than just the plot. I never would have connected Pine Barrens to the Robert Frost poem Anthony was trying to decipher much less Tony's escape from Johnny Sacks. Some themes are obvious, like the ducks, but others, like this one about snow and death and white and black, are more subtle. Thanks for opening up my mind and allowing me to see this. Now, I won't be able to unsee it. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you.
The connection with the poem works out really nicely, though Pine Barrens was never meant to have snow in it. It just happened to snow heavily before filming so they had to go with it.
@@robertborcherding9085 Thank you so much. I really, really, really appreciate your comment. I feel like there’s always new to observe with every rewatch, which makes the journey all the more meaningful.
The clues are all there, but I failed to see them. Black, white, death, Meadow literally tells us, but we just keep waiting for the next plot twist. (the nyourse ratting out Svetlana's romp with Tony on the couch) This latest Blueprint entry changes my whole perspective on the series. Great job, Steph!
I'm seriously having a difficult time distinguishing between Meadow's and your voice on this video, did you know Jamie Lynn Sigler was diagnosed with MS in 2016? I never knew snow represented death until watching The Sopranos!
@@prophetmargin7497 It’s funny because I was actually thinking the same thing when I did a review of the video 😄 wasn’t even intentional but hey, I’m not complaining! And yes. It’s wild how she actually hid it from nearly everyone but James Gandolfini (and her immediate family) for many many years. Now she’s a big advocate and I hope she’s doing well and continuing to kick ass 🔥 she actually has a podcast called “Messy” with Christina Ricci where they both talk about their MS journey.
I did wonder how long it would take you to upload something based on this scene, there’s one or two others that I will expect you to explore also and as an English man who is sold on poetry I wonder if you would mind me asking what your favourite poets and authors are but I’m not being rude asking. Dave. 🙏🇬🇧🇺🇸📚👏
So glad you enjoyed it! Whenever I give any list of favorites, I always inevitably leave one or more off and then come back later and think “Wait, I forgot that one!!” With that said, off the top of my head, a couple of my classic favs are Emily Dickinson and Ralph Waldo Emerson. For contemporary, I really enjoy American poet Maggie Smith. (Comment to be continued re: authors when l have some more time to respond later today) 😁
Great work! Have you noticed a layer to Pine Barrens nobody talks about? All of the hidden Christian references, (13 by my count) plus the music video AJ watches for Blur’s coffee and TV (watch in full on TH-cam and you’ll get it) that lead the observant viewer to the conclusion that Valery, like Jesus, ascends to heaven. Investigate that, see what you think… would love to see one of your videos laying out this heretofore unnoticed hidden layer.
Excellent videos. Keep up the great work 💪
@@rino4406 Thanks so much! Really appreciate the comment and you bet!!
Pine Barrens is my FIRST episode. Grateful. It's the only one I ever seen in rerun before I saw entire episode.
That was very entertaining, a top-notch editing job.
Thank you, my friend! Thrilled you enjoyed it.

Why is it called Pine Barren if it’s all deciduous trees?
