    Homer's honestly the loss I was most sad by. I remember very vividly a pass protect moment vs the Vikings in 2020 when he just got obliterated but gave Russ the time to throw. Like, I don't care if he wasn't an every-down back, he very clearly played to win and would do whatever they asked him to.

      Its funny now that I think about it. Homer looked like he was in his BEST shape YET last season, yet when we needed him most, I think he was injured and nowhere to be found! We’ll be fine without him & whoever is pass protecting from the backfield next, will still be one of the best pass protecting RBs in the league.

    People realize geno was a good qb, but I don’t think people realize how good he was last yr. Statistically, geno smith was a top 5 qb in the nfl. He was top 5-10 in every statistical category that matters for qbs. There was one other qb who was also top 5-10 in every single one…his name is Patrick Mahomes. Of course stats aren’t everything but I feel like some people see geno as being average when he was far above that at least last year. Top 10 completions, #1 completion %, top 10 yds,top 4 tds, top 10 qbr, top 5 passer rating, top 5 lowest ints among qbs who threw the most. If a qb like Kirk or dak or one of those guys put up stats like that ppl would undeniably recognize him as being top 5 at least for that specific year. And with a clearly upgraded situation the sky is the limit for geno

    The Seahawks of last year were a perfect example of what good QB play can do for a team. I agree that this offense ran like a modern basketball team, layup or 3, no need to mess around with contested mid ranges. I noticed that last year and the numbers you have solidified that. Geno's deep ball last year was just amazing, he threw some of the most beautiful, textbook, picture perfect deep balls I've ever seen.

    The Seattle Seahawks are SCARY good. Extremely well coaches team that has knocked the skin off the ball the last two drafts. If there is one team, as a Lions fan, that really concerns me beyond the 49ers - it's MOST DEFINITELY the Seahawks... This division is no joke as Matthew Stafford, Kupp and Donald Duck are healthy and hungry.
    The Seahawks are a Nightmare for defenses... They have the modern day Megatron who's bigger, stronger and faster than the opposing QBs and then they just added the BEST OHIO STATE WR to come out in the last three years (yes I said that but so did those WR who came out recently - they themselves said Jaxon Smith Njigba is the best...)
    Geno Smith is like Jarod Goff... You give him time and weapons and he'll give you a win..
    I'd be excited if I was a Seattle Seahawks fan... Meanwhile, I can't wait for game #2 as the Lions are still angry that you went to the dance last year! #OnePride

    You guys don’t know how to watch film if you think that Geno is just average. He has a big arm and is a huge dude, and that’s a skill. He can throw down the middle and throw over blitzes and tall linemen, something Russell could never do. He’s also mobile and agile. He makes good decisions and sees the field really well. and he’s accurate. As it stands right now, he’s not Mahomes, Burrow, Allen or Herbert. But he’s definitely threatening that next tier. It blows my mind that you guys are still letting Geno’s old reputation influence your assessment of him now. There’s plenty of tape from this year to convince anyone that he’s a higher level caliber QB. and I am not a Hawks fan whatsoever. it’s wild how many football fans don’t know how to watch film

      Geno's about 6'2 1/2", 220. Not small by any stretch, but that's just average size for an NFL QB. And he does let his aggression in the pocket get the better of him on occasion (though that can also be a strength, in his defense). But Brett and EJ are far from the worst offenders here. Take a glance around the internet and you'll see legions of people far lower on Geno than the Bootleg guys.

    • @tripleoo0
      @tripleoo0 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samrosendahl392 By conventional metrics, I agree. However, I don't subscribe to the idea that RBs aren't as valuable as they used to be, because it seems, at least to me, that the school of thought that the idea comes from is largely derived from an all-time great run of QBs, in which prime Matt Ryan barely cracked the top-10. As such, I believe stats like EPA/play, which are largely responsible for the idea that "RBs don't matter," to use the popular idiom, are flawed in their premise.
      To use a chess analogy, chess computers play the best moves because the pieces always move the same way. Football players are not like that. They have human instinct and pattern recognition. JJ Watt was known for this in a big way; oftentimes, he would intentionally use bad technique in order to bait linemen into coming off balance, and very few used feints as effectively as he did. Computers can't account for those types of plays *because* they see every available move. The running game introduces so much more deception into an offense, and so long as the players on the field and coaches on the sideline are human, there will be plenty of things in football that lie beyond the realm of cold calculus.

    And Geno had a high completion percentage this year as we all know and I usually balk at that stat but it matters when you add context. He didn’t get that percentage by dinking and dunking. He was pushing the ball down the field and took chances. One of the ways you assess a QB properly is to observe what he takes from what is available to him, depending on the defense and so forth. Geno capitalized on everything there to be had, which is a trait of top-tier QBs. He just didn’t miss throws that were there. He saw it all and had to trigger to unload. And when there wasn’t much there to be had, he expanded the pocket, the play, and continually found ways to get positive yardage and get something from nothing. that’s what you need to focus on when you watch a QBs tape. Don’t watch the QB, watch the defense. That’s what the pro’s do. Geno played like an absolute stud this year. And I even though he has all the physical traits, I think a big reason is because he’s been humbled and he works extremely hard

    Not a UGA fan, but my god, how the hell did Kenny McIntosh fall that far. Great production and a solid athlete. “Well it was a split backfield, so he wasn’t/isn’t a bell cow”. Yeah, because he was splitting with other very good backs. Their run game was excellent, but they split production three ways. He’s clearly a guy who gets the job done on his touches, and is a team player.

    A good roster elevated geno smith? I would disagree before the year a majority of people thought the seahawks had a bottom 5 roster and was in contention for the 1st pick. Obviously that didn't happen and the fact that they ended up being good doesn't change how the roster was good so the only reason people it's a good roster now is because of how geno played and a some good rookies overall they had an okay oline good rb good safteys and a good corner but what makes a qb look better than they are is good play calling good oline and weapons that isn't gonna make a random qb suddenly look good

    The final 53 man roster is made up of 38% rookies and sophomores. This team is crazy young, which means they will grow and learn together under a player-driven system that Pete has found winning success in for over a decade now. The one thing that I think they'll struggle with is penalties, because while they have the enthusiasm and energy, they need to learn control and discipline, which is where veterans like Reed, Wagner, Diggs and Adams can assist. They've addressed all the holes in their roster through a very productive free agency and draft, and the guys are in an environment that is fun and exciting - the training grounds, the city of Seattle itself, the fans, and the stadium. Guys, when was the last time the Jets had a good offense? I’ll wait. Nothing? Ok, so was it Geno in New York? He started over a fast-declining Eli in his time at the Giants, but public opinion roasted management and they put Eli back in for more tortuous play, which lead to Daniel Jones coming in for even more of it. He ends up on the Hawks, and waits his turn, despite everyone refusing to let his time on the Jets go, then gets his shot, and runs with it. He’s more talented than Rich Gannon, so why couldn’t he have a successful run in his 30’s at QB? Especially given the talent they continue to add on this roster.

      Also the structure of his contract is pretty much 'prove you can repeat what you did in 2022 and you will reap more benefits for 2 more years'. Because he only has the next year fully guaranteed. Great timing as well because he has the staff on his side and he has more weapons on the offense. Its like a better Kirk Cousins deal with arguably on par/better performance. But you also have a QB who has that mobility in the pocket.

The Eagles became softer, they lost their STUD coach to Indy and they drafted more of those "college boys" from Georgia that don't like to put a hard days work in (with exception of their second first round pick). Eagles had their swing and they "somehow ???" missed. The NFC is going to be between the 49ers, Seahawks and Lions in my opinion. Dan Campbell will have the Lions ready to earn their first Super Bowl appearance ever, in my prediction. I am bias but in my defense, I've only predicted a Lions Super Bowl appearance twice... • @Maugrin9
      @Maugrin9 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a common take among fans, but there are two situations when teams (understandably) do this: A) like mentioned in the pod, you're in 4-down territory and the draw gives you a higher chance than most plays to get you in a 4th and manageable; and B) you're deep in your own territory and the risk of an incompletion/turnover playing against a defense that only needs to care about the sticks (no need to care about defending against FG position) is too high to outweigh the super low chance of converting. In the second situation, the difference in punting from 25 vs punting from the 32 in terms of the field position you give to the opposing team can swing the odds of them scoring significantly.
      The NFL isn't Madden where you can pretty reasonably convert in 10+ yard situations; real-life playbooks have very few reasonable options as defenses pretty much know what's coming.
