Your comment about a model of a S1 Duplex, I couldn't agree more. I'd also love to see the Lehigh Valley streamliners made into models as well. Rivarossi once made one of LV's John Wilkes, but they failed the design of the nose of the engine, and now they are REALLY hard to find, and when you fo find one, they cost as much as a new large steam engine...
I hope to see a new revamp of either that engine, or preferrably the Black Diamond. I just really love the engines with bullet-shaped noses. 😋

So I am going to post my experience with these K4's. I've worked on 4 of them, and all of them have major issues. These are the first production run post Covid, so I expected issues, but not as many as perceived....
Paragon 3 has deadspot issues in early production runs, but will note it separately for each engine.
The engines have a design flaw with the drawbar, which pulls the engine up under load, occasionally derailing the front drivers.
First K4: 5432, unstreamilned, long haul, same tooling.
Does not run though any switch, stalls repeatedly. Talking to Broadway this issue is cause by Paragon 3 decoders.
I ended up adding pickups to the center axle on the tenders. This had no effect.
Second K4: 3768 Tuscan, owned by a friend of mine.
Does not run though any switch, stalls repeatedly. Talking to Broadway this issue is cause by Paragon 3 decoders.
Bad drive cup, cracked and slipping on driveshaft. Broadway instructed me to simply superglue it.
I ended up adding pickups to the center axle on the tenders. This had no effect.
Third K4: 3768 DGLE, the first streamlined K4 I tried to purchase.
Does not run though any switch, stalls repeatedly. Talking to Broadway this issue is cause by Paragon 3 decoders.
Bad drive cup, cracked and slipping on driveshaft. Broadway instructed me to simply superglue it.
Shell did not sit right on frame, cab sat low.
Scraping noise on drivers, bad assembly.
Decoder going out, engine would not reliably slow down.
Fourth K4: 3768 DGLE, the second streamlined K4 I tried to purchase.
Does not run though any switch, stalls repeatedly. Talking to Broadway this issue is cause by Paragon 3 decoders.
Bad drive cup, cracked and slipping on driveshaft. Broadway instructed me to simply superglue it. This engine wouldn't move at all out of the box.
Shell did not sit right on frame, cab sat low.
Scraping noise on drivers, bad assembly.
Decoder going out, engine would not reliably slow down.
Engine had a large bind in the gearing once drive cup was removed.
Current status is the second K4 runs now, but not well. The first and third K4's are on their way to Broadway to get rebuilt. Hopefully they don't charge me, both engines were new. The fourth K4 was not accepted to the shop I was purchasing it from. It went directly back to its supplier. I'll update this comment when I get the first and third back.
For now, all I can say is be warned. These locomotives will need to be fixed, even if brand new.

Paragon 3 sounds leave a lot to be desired. I want TCS WowSound with the smoke unit. Kinda silly that in 2020 we can't get the best sound with a smoke unit.

I got mine about a month ago. Excellent model. However I'm already on my second decoder. Paragon 3 decoders are so bad. If it goes bad again I will replace with ESU like my other BLI locos. When it works it does run very nice. Sounds good for a BLI also.

Hey question before you changed out your decoder was it cutting out randomly while running. Mine appears to do that.
Also when you changed out your decoder can it be any decoder or a specific one for BLI. I've honestly never changed any of my decoders which is why I'm asking.

Why does it look like the cab is lower than the front of the locomotive, like it's about to pop a wheelie? Side stripe seems angled downward and does not line up with the stripe on the tender.

There was some definite track issues, I had another loco ive been working on that couldnt make it a single lap without stopping and after some rewiring and full alcohol clean on the track it runs perfect but I am still getting erratic performance from the K4 Streamlined. I have a BLI go pack on order, when it comes we are going to tear into the tender and fix the audio and hopefully this electrical performance issue

@@RodimusPrime Actually no, the 3768 WAS streamlined in 1936 but there was no World's Fair then. By 1940 the 3768 along with 3-4 others, 1120 being one of them, was re-streamlined to what the Bachmann folks have represented here. After the war all had their streamlining removed for ease of maintenance. 3768 remained in service until 1957.
