    I just started learning to play guitar last August a month before my 61st birthday and I hope one day I will to be able to play anywhere near as good as you are now. Awesome musical skills.

    If I had to pick the best sounding D-28 I ever heard, this might just be that guitar. Evro-thang!

    On one hand it's amazing that the top has been able sustain the string pull for all these many years. It's a powerful tone machine! Great playing by the way!

    Now…if I could only play like this! 😄

    That’s the Holy Grail of flat tops. A pre war Herringbone Dreadnought is a magical thing imo. Straight off the bat I can hear that awesome dry woody sound that I’ve not heard from any modern built guitar as good as they are? I’m pretty sure Keith Whitley had one that was given to him by Lester Flat

      The tune I played in drop D was part of an arrangement of Old Joe Clark that I have on my CD, Miles From the Hard Road.

    Hi Allan, You have owned many great dreadnoughts and have played just about every great dreadnought. What guitar brand/model/year sounds the best to your ear?

    • @AllenShadd
      @AllenShadd  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like several for different situations. So there is no "one is the best" for me.

    A surprisingly modern sound. Id not be able to tell the difference from a 40 or this

    That guitar sounds amazing. I wondering, does a guitar that old still hold tune well? Is the intonation and action good?

    • @AllenShadd
      @AllenShadd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Vintage guitars do require a little more expertise to be set up properly, but a good luthier can make them play and intonate as well as a new guitar.

    Great guitar and playing! How does it compare to the '37, or are they beyond comparison? :)

    • @AllenShadd
      @AllenShadd  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Two different guitars, for sure. Both were great. In fact, with three of us here playing them together one afternoon, it was hard to choose. But in the end, I preferred the '35, while my two friends preferred the '37.

    Was this built before or after the famous Tony Rice D28 Martin #58957?

    • @AllenShadd
      @AllenShadd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe after, but if you have questions you should send Dale (the owner) an email.
