I remember reserving this game at toys r us and getting it launch day April 13, 1992 and just being memorized by the depth of this game. Few weeks after launch Nintendo put out the official player's guide. This game is easily in my top 3 of all time favorite Zelda's
Part had me wanting to quit as I didnt know ethos lights the path. I spent a good hour trying to aim a fireball cane shot diagonally at the torch. Then I just kept falling off and mapping in my head where I fell after 2 hours of that i said screw it TH-cam time
I wanted that secret room to the fairy fountain badly, but couldn't figure out how to leap across the gap. I realized from watching you that I needed to start running towards the right and then turn up to hit the blocks. Thanks so much!
Very helpful, dude! I haven't played LthP in a few years and just wanted a quick run-through for the sake of nostalgia and your guides have been great at helping me navigate some of the dungeons I've had trouble remembering. Thanks for all of the time and effort you put into these!
Thanks so much for this guide. As a kid playing this game in the 90s, I always got stuck on the first floor part, and even Nintendo's Player's Guide wouldn't explain much on getting around. I just gave up there and then. Now I'm going to have to replay this game and finish it properly!
I have to take a look at the player's guide from back then. I had an unofficial, black and white Prima guide for this game, but I never beat it as a kid, either. I have to imagine the guide wasn't that great haha. Either way, I'm glad I could be helpful to you!
@@SweetJohnnyCage It was a good guide actually (with some fabulous artwork from legendary artist Katsuya Terada), but not perfect. It's a little non-linear and there were bits and pieces that could have used better explanations. One of the best things was that they had all the maps of the dungeons/castles/towers laid out for you and the locations of items pointed out. Although they didn't provide much guidance of where to go and what to do. 😅
I have stood in the room with the whack a mole type characters, wondering what to do for about 10 minutes, and finally just assumed that that door on the left was a one way door that you would exit from later in the stage. Didn't realize you had to hit just the left and right one till now, haha! Thanks!
5:51 it’s like the developers are telling you that this is totally legal to do in this game, because you can do it in other places like the entrance to Misery Mire
I had been through the Ocarina of Time Ganon's Tower in 2004 and the Wind Waker version in 2005. I was amazed at how expansive this version of the tower was when I played this game on an emulator in 2013
I would like to thank you so much for making this tutorial series. I just started doing super Metroid a Link to the past randomizer and all of your videos helped me out so much. It was a pain to find everything since it's randomized but the information was well useful 👌
The room with the four torches 70 zillion miles apart is kicking my ass. Also is on MY LAST NERVE GRRRRR!!! Sweet Johnny Cage can you come over and get me through it? 😂
A common strategy is to light the one on the right, then the one on top, and then deliberately fall into the pit to get back to the entrance. You'll then need to light the torch on the left, use the pegasus boots to get all the way down, then light the bottom one. You should have plenty of time to get into the next room.
I didn't know you could bounce off the bricks there to get over gaps. I always thought that Link would have fallen in the pit if I did that. I am still learning about this game to this day.
I've been playing this for the first time over the last week or so and just got to Ganon's tower today; I'm glad you knew to use the cane for the first few color switches because I was throwing the upgraded boomerangs and then moving so it curved and hit the switches as it came back to me
I wish I could go back in time and replace both of my older brothers with you. It's like watching a video of a cool friend who knows a thousand helpful tricks. Thanks!

@@cachorrodekatana117 I was one of them, it was awesome and for the time this came out, so were the graphics. No speed runs, it kept us occupied for weeks LOL. The dark forest dungeon was the 2nd most challenging besides the final one, just because of that stupid hand that picks you up and takes you back to the beginning, ugh! So much frustration and choice of colorful words back then. But I still fondly remember this game as one of my favorites, frustration and all. It is probably the 2nd most tedious game after Dragon Warrior 7 that I have played. Requires lots of patience. I'm still playing it to this day on the SNES. No emulator here.
I agree I actually had to learn how to bonk for this 😅 & that this is one of the best dungeons I have seen. This is definitely top 3 Best versions of zelda
So thanks to guides and videos like this, i FINALLY beat this classic. I gotta say, the game is deserving of the reverance it gets, BUT it does suffer from being a product of its time so to speak. The solutions to puzzles isnt always intuitive(using bombs to cross a gap to get to a heal room?!?!) and things are just straight up unfair and inconsiderate of the player and his experience. This final Castle and some of the mid game dungeons like the ice palace and the water dungeon were more frustrating than anything, and having to completely restart the final boss if you fall in the hole is so lame... Restarting a dungoen after you die sucks too since you come back with half life and all your potions depleted... I think the best way to play this game is with save states nowadays. Especially when it comes to trying to get rupees from the rupee game, or savestating right before a boss room, etc...
Thank you sir...now I know how to "bonk"🤣🤣 damn I miss my turbo grafix 16 "bonks adventure' was amazing but I digress.... thank you sir for this valuable knowledge 💯
In the first room where the two red moblins are I used the statue to drive em to the top row , clean arrow shot , the next room was a little bit of hassle.
I get very cautious about wasting magic in the higher floors of the tower, since I don't want to have to restock before going to Ganon. The best way to kill them is to use the Cane of Somaria and place a brick immediately to the right of the bottom-left wizrobe, then immediately fire it once they become active. The beams from the brick will kill 3 of them at once, leaving you with just the upper right most wizrobe to kill with a sword slash.
