ASWO Overture Kuala Lumpur -Malaysia Fully Residential Schools International Wind Orchestra Festival

After 7 years of attempt, ASWO has finally emerged as the Overall Champion at the 20th edition of Malaysia Fully Residential Schools International Wind Orchestra Competition by playing Overture Kuala Lumpur and Jong-Jong Inai (for Wind Orchestra).
2018 marks a year full of challenges for ASWO which I personally went to a personal health batte. Nevertheless, ASWO members and family stood together, supporting me and the band at the most critical time.
At this year edition, with two weeks time left, I decided to end my recovery period and to return to ASWO, preparing them for this year festival (sounds like return of the Jedi; I mean Master Jedi). With so little time, but coupled with pure commitment, dedication and high spirit of ASWO team and family, we know nothing is impossible and we trust that ‘With hardship there will be ease’.
Kudos to the ASWO members for winning the title for the eighth time, for bringing a wide smile and happiness to our dear Mr Principal.
Thank you so much to Pn Nik Anita, Mr Fadhil for managing and looking after the boys so well; indeed they are more independent this year. Thanks to Pn Siti Rodhiah for joining us.
Big appreciation to Mr Luqman Aziz (the arranger), RTM team, Mr Fahmi, Mr Haswani for lending us your expertise and valuable time.
Special thanks to our parents group and ASWO Alumni who have been supporting us relentlessly.
Indeed, this is the meaning of a true, big and harmonious family.
With all this ASWO has managed to attain:
1. Gold with Distinction (Average point of 91, the only band)
2. Best Ensemble Performance Award
3. Best Wood Winds Section Award

Its been 4 years since this wonderful performance, and I still remember the day. Missing all of the members of ASWO who were on stage that day. It was personally a wonderful experience for me and I am so proud of their achievements despite the many challenges they faced. Farish Putra @ Puteq did a wonderful job leading the orchestra and the entire team gave their best to support him. Kudos to all other bands that day. I heard many great young talents on stage, many of which must be somewhere studying today to be engineers, doctors, lawyers etc. If you love your music, never let it go ya. You are all talented!
