my dad did built up felt flat roofing for over 50 years .I done it on an off for 30years .we used to use 2 gas guns an a roll bar on big Areas always better ,but I still use the good old roll an pour to this day .or do a clean finish .
I have watched 100 guys walk on material the just had a flame on.... so stupid keep it up brother one if the only guys i see with a proper bleed out and flame control
brings back memories 30yr ago, bronze debigum, euroroof italy, hyranger france good felts, bark brown mineral pour and roll much quicker, soapy water for picking up the seams,I miss it,you cant beat a woodwool slab roof, any jobs for an old hand
nice to see good work, i do flat roofing in ns. modified, epdm and pvc's. it's nice to see that someone else takes pride in thier work. yes degranulation, i like!!
degranulating is so overrated its not even funny. the same heat used to bond the top cap to the ply/seam underneath is more than enough heat to degranulate at the same time. try it sometime on wall stripping and see for yourself.
have you tried nailing the base layer up side down at 9 inch ctrs, you have bitumen on bitumen and don't need as much heat on the area, just the lap, it's vented from the deck, for timber decks only,I tried it years ago and it works fine, black glass fibre drip to eaves, bonded to base layer and nailed the cap sheet bonded to trim.
However you see somebody flatroofing around the world I always come to conclusion best roofers according to way of work, regulations, details etc are German roofers... ... Best training education by practice and lessons and a centurylasting tradition... .... Many roofs in Europe are in original shape and best condition and older than American or canadian history...
Moerakski yes the torch down well still be hot and soft to walk on. always use a pull stick. i c alot wanana be torchers walking on torchdown and kicking it the same time. this guy did a good job. union roofers kick ass.
If you walk on the product when it's hot you'll with push in all the granules (tiny colored rocks) or they'll be stuck to the bottom of your shoes in a big hot mess. You can walk on it after about ten minutes depending on the temperature outside
Looks ok, try standing on the other side of the roll and push it foreword with one foot, constantly putting pressure on the roll, so the bitumen can really vulcanise. And a hugh plus is that you're not walking backwards so you won't fall over any obstacles or into openings
Your not meant to ever walk on freshly torched felt, walking behind rolling with a foot is 100% the wrong way. You are supposed to roll it out with a cane like shown here.
Your roll should be rolled tighter for a more consistent bleed out .... I can give many more tips on your torching and I would only rate you as a 6 out of 10 ... keep learning
The first installer I have seen on the tube installing torch applied roofing correctly. THANK YOU!!!!
Good to know. Do you install a lot of flat roofs?
Properly done

Nice bleed. Nice finish at the transition. Perfect amount of heat. Thanks for the lesson.

Wow , that is a nice job..............makes it look easy for a homeowner to try.......but of course it is not. Thanks for the demo!
good work man.
What's the metal tool he uses to drool the felt?and where can I get one ?...nice job
that's home made, easy enough to make

@0:43 i thought this was Disney world for a minute
what tool is he using? to move the roll as he walks.
Pvt. lunchbox it's called a cane. It pulls and flip it over it degranulates.
Well done.
Is this top layer to soft to stand on when its hot or is this just a different way of torching ive only seen videos of. Seems legit

Don't heat up too much the middle part so u can walk on it but I think this method is better using the stick
If your walking on it your not heating it enough. The guys that walk on it are cowboys roofers
Nice bleed out aswell
Perfect!
please write in the average cost of square meters? Thank you!

That’s rough man, no consistency and where’s the bleed on the end lap. Should be “no bond roofing”
Fail
Proper except there's too much bleed.
