Thank you very much for sharing the good and the bad :) the full view on how to get out is really appreciated. One question, this is not the first time i see people paddliing out with the paddle on the chest and with arms. What is advantage of doing this rather what you did at the begining standing and passing whites from above?

      Appreciated!
Prone paddling is an essencial skill for any sup surfer.. not only can be used for safety reasons (if you break/lose your paddle | wind changes | if you injure yourself) but also to get the board moving quickly and pass waves coming your direction before they break on you. Standing up or getting to your knees take too much time sometimes.
The other reason is balance, im using a low volume board (79 liters for 81 kg of my own weight) so sometimes I don’t want to risk falling down on a critical moment that can cost me being dragged back to shore ;). Hope my explanation helps :)

    Sup mate,
Which board are you using? Seems small and hard to ride!
By the way, what size is your paddle in comparison to your height?
    Cheers from Brazil!
