Thank you for sharing your expertise. I remember seeing one of your urn/planter with large styrofoam insert. How do you shape the styrofoam to fit so perfectly?
Morning Emily , it's a pour able product from Smooth on. Bit of a guessing game ,it expands about 6 times it's original volume. If you pour too much ,it's easy to trim after it sets up.
Hi Daphne , have you seen this one? th-cam.com/video/ztK2lo_9meQ/w-d-xo.html Also go on my channel home page and search Flanges and a few other vids will pop up.
Well, good morning to you. No he does not. But he does have an Instagram page ...@tuscanystatues . Hes casting some pretty large things currently down in NZ.
Wow...your work is so beautiful...I am new to all of this...I am retired and work with epoxy resin. I just recently came across your work...I would like to start working with concrete. Is there a way I can send you a photo of what I am trying to learn, so you could give me some information?
robinson1010 Yes sir going to be hopping along pretty quick. Both of these fellas are on diy molds.com,in is now retired but has a wealth of experience in our field .Tuscany is from NewZealand and is a very good friend,He paid me a visit last year about this time.He is an incredible craftsman, you can check him out at Tuscany Statues Hamilton NewZealand.
Morning Ron ,Even with wax and pva the glass will be difficult to remove ,no two ways about ,and on occasion you may have to work quite hard to get it off.Without the wax and pva the glass would permanently bond to the rubber.Did you let your glass totally cure before you tried to remove it? Slowly releasing it after an hour or two works great to remove easier. What type of wax? did you let the wax and PVA dry totally before next coat? Just trying to help you out Ron ,want you to be succesful.
hi griz do you use any thickener in your fiberglass so you don't need to use so much cloth
No Daphne , glass and resin are the only things I use , the more layers ,the more strength. You don't want to make inferior molds.
Very nice Gris!!! Anxious to see all the new pours.....carveit
Thanks Bob,I can't wait either ,it's like Christmas when you pour newbies.lol

@@mrconcreteartisan Thank you very much. I do not do Instagram, but have made a note in case I do. Take care, John
Thanks! Very informative as always. Do you think expandable foam could also be used for making backup molds instead of fiberglass?
No I'm afraid not ,I just don't think they would be durable enough.thanks for your question :)
Great tip!!!
