- This past weekend was a very special one for me...
Over the past two months I have been asking Filipino's from all over the country to tell me something they LOVE about where they are from!? Something that makes them feel proud of where they live?! Something that makes them proud to be Filipino!
Well this past weekend I had the opportunity to share what makes me proud of my home with five of my friends from Canada and New Zealand!
Being able to share my passion for my home in the Philippines, Cagayan de Oro with my foreign friends makes me proud. It makes me proud to say I live in this amazing country! It makes me proud to be taking this journey towards #BecomingFilipino!

Thumbdowners or downthumbers, I don't know why you thumb down this video. This is a Canadian that has showcased the Phiippines for free, better than your expensive actors/actresses that won't lift a finger unless they're paid the big bucks. We should be grateful for this guy, unless you are a person with no life of his own and just jealous of what 'kulas' and his friends are doing....
Hear hear. Nothing to not like really about this video. We should be happy that foreigners are promoting The Philippines in such a positive way. There is alot this country has to offer the world and the culture needs to be promoted.

I miss CDO. I am from Canada but Filipino by marriage. It is my wife's hometown. I have been there twice and I cant wait to return. Hopefully we can live there some day. I love it there, have lot's of family there so much fun! Tagay Pa!!

There is a little island that comes out in low tide just a short boat ride away from Opol. haha I thoroughly enjoyed them attempting some Bisaya this past weekend as well!

HAve you tried coming to south Central Mindanao... Tacurong City? Kidapawan City? Kabaca, North Cotabato? I know you were in Davao City as well.... you are welcome here
Maybe, if you're going to ask me what I love about being a Filipino, it's the way people live. You could choose either to live in simple life in fields or in busy urban places. I choose both. Hahah Apir!

BEING filipino that has been away for a very, very long time -- and in NYC right -- as i try to ''learn more" and ANEW about my country (news - its many problems, challenges, hopes, bad habits, good things, etc) --
i can hardly believe a foreigner would show so much passion about being part of the country as you do.
you probably know the country better than I - born there -- or even as you explore your life there -- also find that along with the good things are also some of the difficult things. but then -- isn't life like that anywhere?
just be yourself -- the filipinos clearly love you for yourself. and don't get all the ''tsismis" or ''prying" habits get to you. that's all just part of things there. just keep focusing on your good friendships and your life , career whichever direction you go with the opportunities that make you happy and prosperous.
as for 'learning more" ? even filipinos have to learn things about their country, customs in different provinces , habits...so -- DON'T count yourself at a disadvantage!! the important thing is that you genuinely feel the way you do - and want to make a go at it -- ''Becoming Filipino"
but maybe a little ''secret" ? you ARE -- if you are happy there -- YOU ARE a filipino. if your friends and community love and embrace you (complete with the filipino prying -- ) THAT means you are filipino.
get that passport if you want - it's stupid if the government doesn't have that process. check out what thOse links of other foreigners in the philippines and want to make their lives there too. ..i keep getting surprised how more ''foreign-born" are finding their lives or happiness in my country and among the filipinos. and if so -- you are as much a blessing to the country as the country hopefully is to you. :-)

You will know if person is a true Kagayanon when he/she sees beautiful things....in English" its beautiful".....in cebu 'nindot kaayo"...in CDO " tsada kaayo" So,if you hear someone appreciating beautiful things in a mall or any place and says "tsada kaayo" then he / she is a Kagayanon for sure...

That's cool man! 'Yan ang Filipino, marunong magkamay... I think that's one ability Pinoys bear when they travel to small towns, they join the people as they eat as a community with their bare hands (because often there aren't enough spoons.)
