A neutral look suits me really well, have been wearing them for the last 30 years since they are pure classics. All my most expensive purchases are neutrals so that they last. However, I've really been enjoying wearing them with a bright scarf/shoe/handbag, which is a great way of sampling the trend. Also a neutral with an assertive colour blouse looks really good - I've introduced poppy red, turquoise and coral, and they're fab with neutrals.
I might look like somebody stuck in the 2010s but I will never EVER give up on my skinny jeans! they feel and look amazing, are practical, and in my opinion, timeless. Any baggy/ slouchy/ low waist jeans make me look like a toddler (I'm petite). So, no matter how much stores try to push baggy jeans down my throat, I will remain faithful to my stretchy skinnies.
I never liked skinnies but I am still wearing my leggings and long tops. However I have added elastic waisted mom jeans and some flared leggings to my wardrobe, but it's not something I do everyday.
i had a hard time with it too but try searching up “high waisted, straight leg” or “slim leg”. they look more modern than super skinny’s and are not sloppy. gap makes good ones. just wear them once and you will get used to it. i promise.
I came here to say the same thing. Maybe a tapered/straight fit it's the limit for me. I wish "influencers" would stop calling them universally flattering. They are not. To me is the same as saying that everything is flattering on my pear shaped body. It's not.
I don’t agree neutrals are a trend. Neutrals are forever a classic and a pop of colour does not change that just makes it a combo of classic with a bit of trend.
As a petite, I have always preferred more fitted bottoms. Those baggy trousers and fuller wider skirts would make me look short and wide. Even flared pants, which are said to make one look taller, only do so if worn with high heeled shoes or boots, which make one, in actual fact, taller. I usually build my wardrobe around classic bottom pieces and only get on the color/print trend with shoes/bags/and tops. I’ve had a beautiful button down silk blouse in that very green for about 12 years. I haven’t worn it in a few years, but you made me move it to the front of my closet. That color is fantastic on you.
How tall are you May I ask? I’m 158cm / 5 ft 2. I can wear slightly wide pants if the material is heavy and drapes well. But not balloon shape or very very wide. Gotta buy the quality ones.
@@EVL-xj5vc I think I am still 5ft.1in, although I may have shrunk an inch. I really don’t like any clothing that is wider or flares out wider than I am. To my eye it only makes me look wider. I’m not concerned with my weight too much, but I think many women tend to hide under looser clothing which sometimes can look like they are as big all over as their biggest part. I have a small waist and don’t want to lose it under wide tops. My preference is for more slender dresses, high rise straight leg slacks and jeans or ones with tapered ankles. I don’t often wear heels and prefer front tucked or tucked in tops and hip length blazers. I will wear a wider or boot cut pant with heels or boots with heels, but I like the look of Chelsea boots and rolled ankles if pants and boots are the same or close in color.
Im 5’1 as well and i love wide leg pants. I would recommend finding a pair that fit nicely on the waist, I actually opted for a high waist. The length doesn’t matter when shopping. I searched high and low for a perfect pair-for me- and i ended up landing on a pair from h&m (I hate buying from fast fashion but these pants fit me perfectly) but they were way long and I took them to get tailored and they are the most flattering pants I own. I usually pair them with a body suit so I don’t loose my figure.
What I have found is that wide leg pants without pleats, and without the ‘paper bag waist’ look wonderful IF you pair it with a platform or flat form shoe AND the pants fit nicely around your waist and butt. That makes a huge difference especially when paired with a fitted shirt. Besides…isn’t it fun to try new things?
@@nimekupata I've got purple hair right now, and yeah... Occasional pops of color (like a mustard yellow) in tights, shoes, and bags paired with black or gray is where it's at.
Never gonna give up on neutrals, either im on a full neutral color layered or im in avant garde full attack on bright colours, my personality can’t fit just one style but classic is always a must in my wardrobe
Most people think relaxed trousers/ jeans are not flattering if you're heavy, but I don't think that is a problem. The real problem is if you are really short. I have a couple of pairs, but I find that on my 5'1" frame and 112 lbs., they just make me look shorter unless I'm wearing a heel, which make me look taller, anyway. I wouldn't consider them universally flattering. On the other hand, cropped tops are the way to go, especially if you're shortwaisted. Of course, I mean ones that hit your waist, not showing skin. I'm a senior, and I seriously can't do that😅 I'm very happy with that particular trend right now💕
Try a slightly tapered pair that hit just at or above the ankle. You can still wear them with flats but the peek of skin helps ensure us short people don’t look like little blobs in baggy pants
@Virginia Pelley yes, thank you! That's exactly what I told a friend who was shopping with me when she wanted to purchase a pair of relaxed pants. She is also short but heavier than me.
Those baggy bottoms have to chosen extremely carefully on us shorter, rounder people. Not only do they tend to look slovenly but they make us look dumpy. Thanks for the heads up though. There might be more straight leg trousers appearing because of the shift from skinny. I always wear a limited range of colours just so all my items work together but limited != no brights. It will be fun to be a bit brighter again. No thanks cottage-core. I look idiotic in it. Cowboy boots are strictly casual unless you are in Texas. I have 2 pair from texas and they definitely give jeans something extra. I love me a chelsea boot even though I don't have any at the minute.
1. Neutrals head to toe moving to pops of color with neutrals 2. Skinny jeans moving to slouchy tailored trousers. 3. Flat shoes moving to platforms. 4. Crafty styling (did not even know this was a thing) moving to a preppy look. 5. Cowboy boots moving to Chelsea style ankle boots. 6. Corset tops moving to cropped top or cropped cardigan style. 7. Overalls moving to chino/cargo style pants
Im totally disagreeing with most! Skinny jeans cowboy boots neutrals are just classic and by definition classic is timeless! Ladies be yoyrselves and dont get carried away by so called “trends” or “trendsetters”
I actually hate just about every look (that you've presented in this video) that's "in style" right now (for me) Models look fantastic in everything. That's why they're models. I'll just wear what I feel good in.
@@martineshamzin7535 When this happens its just a way for the fashion industry to get the mainstream consumers to buy more clothes/accessories in order to "keep up" with fashion trends. Fashion trends come and go but style is timeless.

I had way too much color and it was always a struggle getting ready. Now with the neutrals its so easy, it just flows. I do add color through bags, accessories, and makeup. 💖
@@monikakowalczyk9837 I think neutrals can be a way to let more of you shine through. I personally never wear neons. But I do like colorful accessories, I think its an inexpensive way to add fun things to an outfit.
I love that the wide, slouchy pants are trendy-I generally just wear what I like regardless of trends, but sometimes when a style isn't in fashion, it makes it hard to find, or if you do find it you have to spend a lot more on it. When it's trendy you have more options at more price points.
I have spent my life being annoyed with the advice about incorporating slouchy trousers into my wardrobe because they are supposedly flattering on every figure. Nope. Petite women, short women, women with short legs, etc - we need tapered or above the ankle trim fit.
Enjoy your videos but disagree on the slouchy pants. They are definitely not universally flattering. You have to be a size 0 to otherwise it accentuates stomach and hips which are not flattering on most women...JMO :)
Actually I disagree. If you are up for super slouchy pants than yeah I get it. But for straight legs and mom jeans they are generally flattering for almost everyone. Wide Legs also look great on lots of people. I'm a size 0 or 2 but one of my friends is a size 10 and they look awesome on her too. As a tall and skinny person, I don't have much problems with shopping but my friends tried the baggy jeans trend and they rocked it.
I might have my wardrobe stuck in earlier years. But being short I know what looks better on me. When you feel good, you look good. Confidence makes a difference. Appreciate influencers showing what they consider up to date. Just as decorating your house, you can get some really good ideas but it is your home....your body... Make your own decisions. Wear what makes you feel Happy!!!! A smile is your best assessory!
Several weeks ago, the Banana Republic "e-catalogue" arrived in my mailbox. BR presents cargos in the most luscious silhouettes. Exquisite details and glorious colors. They really know how to create "new again" cargo looks. There was an "Out of Africa" vibe similar to line in the mid "80s. (....and, "No", BR does not employ me and I am unfamiliar with no one associated with BR.) .
I’ve been disappointed with Banana Republic’s latest collections. First there was a Safari line, I don’t know about you are I have no plans to go on a safari anytime soon. And now it’s a motorcycle inspired collection, again I don’t know what they’re thinking? I bought a pair of cargo pants from them last year but the fabric was all wrong.
But then skinny jeans can make somewhat a bit heavier look even heavier. Looser jeans make a heavier person look less heavy. A tall or short thin person can wear almost anything - the reason models are normally thin.
@@ruthgrady2824 Skinny jeans make everyone's butt look bigger and emphasize the shape of the legs. If you've got a big butt and skinny legs, skinny jeans are your best friend.
Pairing bright colors with mid-tone neutrals (think greys, browns, taupes, mushroomy colors) has been a total revelation and has allowed me to enjoy wearing my colorful pieces with much more effortlessness. It's a much less stark contrast than wearing them with black or white. I do think cowboy boots still have a place, even in an urban environment. But prefer to wear them under a midi skirt or dress, or popping out of a slightly cropped wide pant or cargo. I think hiding the top of the boot helps keep it more polished while still enjoying the quirkiness of the boot. And big pants. I'm into it, what can I say. My cargo/jogger styles are by far my most worn :)
I've not been wild about skinny jeans since they started, since you need a particular figure for them to look well. I'm broader on top than bottom, and can look like a bit of a lollipop in skinny jeans. However, tailored cigarette trousers cropped at the ankle look really good, narrow but not hugging the leg.
I'm shaped like you and yup after throwing my wide legs and bootcuts in favour of skinny jeans 15 years ago, to see them come back in now and young people throwing away their skinnies and not realising how they're being subconsciously led by the noise, I'm no longer falling for it and will not be getting rid of my clothes or jumping at trends without thinking. I like straight legs now, adds bulk to the bottom half which some people don't like but we have the shoulders and upper half to balance it out
I have had a pair of elevated gold wide strap sandals for a couple of years...each strap is adjustable with velcro...they were very pricey $200 but I have worn them alot. They are super comfie and easy to wear on our cobblestone streets...best purchase in 2 yrs...the metallic gold looks chic. They still look brand new.
I think the platform shoes make most people look bottom heavy and they draw your eye down and the mid boots make your legs look short. Fine for tall models who can balance it out. I would love some wider trousers but I have a tummy and a flat bottom so I've unfortunately not been able to find anything. I find the balance between trend and style difficult to navigate. Trends look great on models but not so good on real women in real life.
Low waisted and flared trousers are my nightmare, they fit terribly around waist and hips and they get dirty as they are too long and dragging on the ground.
I wish I could give you a big hug because you have made my day! It feels like the trends are starting to go back to styles more flattering to my body type and I'm very excited for that. I dabble in all sorts of styles, but I love that I can also still keep my timeless neutrals, skinny jeans, boho dresses, etc. I'm also excited about the balance that wider leg trousers bring.
First off, that green sweater looks fantastic on you and your skin is glowing. I love your videos and ideas. I just can't get behind the baggy trousers, they just look sloppy to me. In my opinion they are rather shapeless and not very flattering on anyone, but I guess thats fashion, we all have our likes and dislikes.
I can do a relaxed trouser but not that relaxed. I'm alittle overweight so that would only make me look bigger. I see many fashions that look great on others but I've learned not to go that route because it ends up in the closet. I think that's what we have to learn..choose fashionable trends that we will actually wear.
Great video but I do wonder how baggy trousers trailing along the ground can be considered sophisticated - an inch or two off would make such a difference IMO! As one in the UK thank you so much for mentioning the northern hemisphere

I love the twill cargo joggers. I’m 51 and got rid of all my skinny jeans, they’re packed away until they come back in style. I always get lots of compliments when I wear my twill cargo joggers. They look cool with puff sleeve tops.
As a former member of the fashion industry who predicted trends for Federated Stores, I think you're on target and you share good examples to aid your followers in pulling together their particular looks. However, the v-neck ribbed cardi that you wore is not the most flattering piece - for you - either in style, silhoutte, or color! Guide your followers... starting with what you are wearing! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos... and thanks!
Crop tops are very cute on young women, with a certain body type. I loved them back in the day (in the 90's) when I was in my thirties and had a cute figure. Crop tops don't work for me right now, and most likely never will again. That's okay. I've never been a slave to fashion. I wear what I feel comfortable in.
Mixed feelings about this list. I have always preferred neutrals so will continue to collect and wear them regardless of whether they’re on trend. Ditto for the preppy look. I love L.L. Bean. Set aside my skinnies a few years back and got some baggy jeans because they’re unwearable in humid summers but I’m starting to miss my skinnies so will probably start wearing them again in the fall. Glad to hear platforms are still on trend. Guess I didn’t waste my money on the pair I got. I’m so used to flats though that it takes me a few minutes to get walking in them. Don’t know how anyone manages to wear heels. Love corsets on others, but they’re not for me. The trends most appealing to be right now are those on the runway at Lemaire and Sakai. They look comfortable and easy to pull off.
As for skinny jeans, for summer roll them up to a pedal pusher length for a fresher look. Also I am plus sized and have no problem with wide leg pants *IF* they are silky or flowing. I'm not tall but not short either. Flowing pants make my legs look long. Wide legs in a heavy fabric are a no go for me so no jeans, those just make me look like I have tree trunks for legs. Boot cut or flare jeans are a better option for me.
Thank you so much ..loved all these brightening tips about the trends! Hope people will start shopping bright and colourful apparel , hope this will bring some sales to my small ArsaStore on Etsy !
Thank you so much for this. I've watched a ton of 2022 trend videos and they were not relatable to everyday life- too runway focused. Thank you for simplifying and making it tailored to us regular folk ☺️💖
The baggy bottoms are OK as long as they are slightly cropped and they are high waisted. I'm not ready to have my jeans drag along the floor in the rain again and stain my sneakers blue and make me cold and I don't think I ever will be. The young people are the ones who will suffer for fashion just like with every generation.
This video was such a good source of inspiration! I'm totally on board with this colorful trend, i want a good orange sweater from spring 😃😅 I feel we all need color around us after the gloom.of the pandemic. I agree with someone in the comments here that said neutrals are classics so they are not on trend or out. I'm not so excited for those big pants but i must try and see. I feel skinny jeans were the God sent jeans for plus size people like me because they are very comfortable and make us look better. Thanks for the amazing content!
Yes I'm hoping to get Karen's drop also! Many women are saying that the baggies trousers are sloppy and not good on size 14 upwards. I think you have to look at the tailored baggies pants...not waistband or unpleated. Could you possibly show some plus sized examples for you next segment? What are some styling tricks and tips to look out for when we are curvier. Thanks Leonie, love your work!
@@Thestyleinsider. I am a size 0 or 00 and I am completely lost in those loose pants, they look awful on me! And in flats? I’d look like a complete slob.
@@annan.3283 I think it depends more on the body type. Some curvy ladies (that have a defined waistline) can look good in wide leg trousers that are more fitted in the waist and hips. Petite ladies with long legs can pull off wide leg pants too.
Thanks Debra I will make sure I do that in upcoming videos. I don’t like to feel as though I’m pushing people to purchase but I know what you’re saying 👍🏼
I love skinny jeans. They show off a great pair of footwear and I can turn them up with flats. My legs are my best asset …. My stomach is not ☹️. So with skinny jeans I can wear a looser blouse or sweater to minimize my stomach 👍🏻. Love your videos 💕
On 2/9, I just thrifted some shorter length relax fit trousers and cargo pants. I did this because the pants that I had in my existing wardrobe were the length to wear with high heels but not really wearing a heel shoe too good for now (injured my left foot in early 2020 and the older you get the harder to heal), so I invested into some flatform shoes (oxfords and because of clearance prices some sandals for when summer returns). The harness/corset was a major look on the recent runway NYFW basically used as a layering over shirts/dresses/blazers. Cowboy boots have always been a love of mines and I came to the realization that I could get them at a reasonable price thru thrifting. They are just not good for inclement weather during the winter, for good footing. So, I got a few pairs and will be wearing them, this spring, with my maxi skirts/dresses/loose fitting trousers. I want, what I think is a high neck wrap dress on Karen's drop but good luck to any of us on getting anything especially the cargos because it seems those are really popular. I already sized my dress, so it won't be a guessing game when it time. Her prices were pretty good on her first one. We just got blasted with 10 inches of snow, time to put on my combat/work boot to shovel some snow. So, what do you think of what was shown on the recent NYFW, runways? Enjoyed your take but you forgot to include the pics of Karen's cargos. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
Absolutely loved this video! Everything you mentioned is so doable! I am 50yrs of age. I love still staying trendy but so often the fashions are just not wearable for women my age! Thanks so much for your great advice!
I love my skinneys but love kickflare and bootcut too and I will never give up on colourful crochet clothes as I am a crocheter and a fan of the 70s but I appreciate your channel
Love those cargos and "high/low" combinations. And I've never been much of an all monochromatic look unless it's white. You look fantastic in Kelly green, Leonie! I'm still looking for something in that color....

Nothing is "universally flattering", that is just such nonsense, I'm sorry. A low waisted wide leg trouser looks *horrible* on short people - like they are drowned in fabric. With basically any other cut it's the same: some people will shine in these, some don't - and that's ok.
I laughed at every style but the cropped top and would probably wear cargo pants. The rest of it was hilarious. 😂 And I had to fast forward past the Squarespace commercial.
💡Good idea! Finding cropped tops off-the-rack to lay properly over larger breasts is almost impossible🤣. You're 💯% right about fun, quirky graphics on men's T-shirts. I like your advice about trousers as opposed to jeans but, one thing I can never do again is wear the pleat front trousers - exactly the place where I don’t need the fullness - gone are the days 😂😂😂
really like these different outfits you have picked for bring up the examples. Feeling really bored about timeless classy, or simple neutral tone have been mentioned in most of the videos recently.
So nice - I just postet a YT tutorial on how to make easy wide leg pants by yourself and now I see this video on you suggesting to replace skinny jeans for wide leg pants... just awsome because they are my favorit and I already made myself 3 pair... And YES! They are so comfy and elegant at once. What better way to dress up even for home office....
In indonesia, we got these categories that are still on trend: cake girl (girls who wear colorful pastels), mamba girl (girls who wears mostly black), and earthy girl (girls who wear earthy neutrals and opt for handcrafted local bags). ❤
I agree, it is ironic that all in one pieces are difficult and impractical for call of nature moments. I never find the right occasion to wear my jumpsuits. I personally prefer wearing co-ords or shirt and trousers in the same colour to achieve a similar look. And yes, I’ve stored most of my skinny jeans in a storage box for now. I am having an anti-skinny jeans moment and it certainly makes outfit ideas and combinations more interesting and less predictable.
Neutrals are classic! Its basic items in our closet that if we dont know what to wear we go for neutral colors. And the baggy trousers are never attractive or look sexy. I’d still go for skinny jeans.
ut oh i just ordered a pair of flats (to walk the dog) ok they were on sale the Valentino Stud mules or something. I have heels, kitten heels and platforms, boots, trainers, so i think I'm good. My friend said i have enough shoes to walk around the world LOL I guess there's always that other pair you fall in love with though. Happy shopping lovies.
You're right about neutrals. I have them and sick of them = boring. But keep buying them. Imma gonna go for some color this spring! Life is too short so let's spruce it up. LOL Loved your video.
Actually I prefer the unisex attitude... but I agree with you. Everyone looks best in what suits their body and personality type. We tend to look best in clothes we feel good wearing.
Please, please tell us what is the cardigan you are wearing. It looks great on you! I really enjoyed your video, first time coming across your channel and definitely not last:) x
Girls, don’t let people tell what to wear. Just wear what flatters you, a change in colour if it does make you a stand out but more than anything else create your own fashion and wear them as if you look like a million dollars.
I'm so glad skinny jeans are finally leaving! I hate them, denim is a thick fabric that feels so tight in my calves, I'm not going to miss them. On the other hand I LOVE cargos, they are so versatile and comfy and the look good at any age.
Oh Leonie, thanks for the video but I totally disagree on most suggestions, nope ,nope, on those big trousers they make women look bigger!!!!! lol slimmer pants are way more flattering. Ouch on the platforms, kitten heels instead. Love my neutrals!!!! they are classics!! now and then a pop of color but always paired with a neutral. Why would I want to add a masculine touch to my style (Chelsea style boots) nope again! an no to the cowboy boots as well. Those women with the cargo pants have a frumpy look to them. OOOOOOh I contemplated not to comment but I just had. Cheers
Of course neutrals are always in and foundation pieces but these last couple years if you look at any influencer, they are often in head to toe neutrals! Ready for some colorrrr😍
Yay that’s so exciting! This is the first season I’ve worn green ever and I’m loving it. Let me know how you get in with wearing green Gillian - I’d love to know 💚
The end of skinny jeans made me quit jeans and trousers altogether. I live in skirts these days and it is so comfortable. I do not understand why I did not start earlier
I love watching your videos, but I have to disagree with the recommendation to switch out boho for preppie...what? We old hippies will rock our crochet and embroidery forever, and wouldn't be caught dead in preppy styles🙀
Thanks for that presentation. I was a bit sad that with the increase of concerns on ethics in fashion the vibrant colors came back on trend as, most of the time, they are overdyed in factories without much ecological concerns. I would advice to pair new fair trade ecological neutrals with either second hand, upcycled or colorful pieces we already have or borough from a friendly sister. The waterwise dyeing certifications are quite rare, but there is some, and natural dyes are usually washing off quickly. Aerating a natural dyed item, deodorise it, spot-clean the stains and washing it less often help to preserve the color in a more ecofriendly way. As well as drying it out of direct sunlight. Some natural dyes also have antibacterial properties that should be advertised better. When buying a new item with a color made of a synthetic dye, you can immerge it in water for the night before to wash it, so the overdye is getting off the fabric. That dark water is an important source of pollution, but some plants, like the petunias are usually able to decontaminate it a bit. The water treatment plants are also burning the wastes in their filters so it generates C02. As for cowboy boots, animal skins or petroleum synthetic materials aren't really appealing to me and I would rather invest my money in new ecological shoe brands than make what seem to me to be a fashion non sense and mistake in this time of climate change.
For all the women out there who don't like the very wide leg trousers, may I suggest a halfway house? I found a pair of mid-cotton trousers last year and left all my skinny jeans behind! Basically, they were neutral coloured, and had a zip and button, but an elasticated waist that sat on the waist. The legs are wide at the top and down, like a medium wide leg, and then skim down to my ankle and are elasticated there. I'd call them a balloon shape. I'm 5'3 and 100 lbs but I think they would suit most body shapes and especially people under 5'6 or so. They don't have any leg pockets but jean pocket style on the front. I'd compare them to balloon shape jeans, but not the over exaggerated ones. They are perfect for tucking in tops too, but crop tops would look fab with them - I've worn them with shorter jumpers and tops and they just hit my waist, not really a gap. I'm looking for similar trousers for summer, or some wide-leg linen ones but fitted at the hips and waist, more tailored than slouchy, and prefer a straighter leg. It's all about the proportions and the particular piece. I also hate my trousers dragging on the ground. Leonie, you are taller and can wear most styles of trouser. I have some bright coloured pieces and already wear them with my neutrals (which I am not giving up, especially white and cream). Sky blues and denim look fabulous with neutrals and are my favourite colours. Trinny London often shows how to wear bright colours, so she's a good one to watch. Love your videos and you are so lovely!
PS - that style of trouser emphasises waist (I'm fairly boyish, up and down) and the slimmest part of your leg, just above ankle if you can find the right length for you but don't cling and have room at bum and hips. They look great with shorter tops, long tucked in, and with chelsea boots and 3/4 boots as wel as low heel and flat strap sandalsl. I went and got another pair in the sale and dyed them khaki colour. Love them with tights in winter under as they are not heavyweight and on their own in spring/summer with a lighter top and sandal. A lot of people shop mostly on line now but nothing beats trying on different styles to see if you can wear them (and saves the returns business, and the environment).
I love those sandals. I saw a lady wearing them last year and they looked great! I'm sure they're very comfortable too 💗 I'll have to get some of those for sure
I absolutely love the cargo/jogger pant look, especially in a dressy version. I am average height, but I have long legs. I have yet to find a cargo/jogger (with narrow ankle) that is long enough for me. Usually what happens is they hit me at the bottom of my calf and stay caught there (I have thin-ish legs). NOT a good look. I actually work at a women's clothing boutique, and we have recently had faux leather versions of these. They look amazing on petite women, or women with shorter legs. But I have yet to find a pair that I can wear. :(
Oh that’s such a shame. I’m tall with long legs and often find the same thing which is why I’m hoping to get a pair of Karen Brit Chicks next Amazon Drop collection 🤞🏼
We should really rethink this whole ‘in, on trend' and ‘out, over’ mindset. Fashion industry is disgusting anyway, but most of it is our, the consumers, fault. For example: oversized everything is all going to finish in the landfill, unused, when more people realize how ridiculous it really is. Most will not bother by bringing it to the tailor, when they realize it is simply too fucking big. Follow your body shape and your style, trends are for fools.
Great video (as always)! Glad neutrals get a bit of a boost - we all need some color back in our lives! Thrilled to have an alternative to skinny jeans. Yes to the platforms - when you are 5’3”, every inch counts😉. Love Chelsea style boots - so another yay! Crops, overalls, cottage/preppy - nah. Thanks, Leone💖

neutrals are never on trend or not-on-trend because they're classics
Wearing them top to toe is more what I was meaning 👍🏼
No browns really had a moment last year, it definitely gained a ton of popularity.
@@annan.3283 indeed, brown went from being one of the least desirable colors to being amongst the most popular in the past year.
@@annan.3283 and I hope it will stay that way cause it's one of my favourite colors and it looks cool on me.
I’m with you. I have not found a pair of wide-legged pants that suit me.
i had a hard time with it too but try searching up “high waisted, straight leg” or “slim leg”. they look more modern than super skinny’s and are not sloppy. gap makes good ones. just wear them once and you will get used to it. i promise.
I came here to say the same thing. Maybe a tapered/straight fit it's the limit for me. I wish "influencers" would stop calling them universally flattering. They are not. To me is the same as saying that everything is flattering on my pear shaped body. It's not.
@@anachitimus1292 i hear you. I am an hourglass; all straight/baggy/ slouchy jeans make me look like a carton box
Thank you 💚
How tall are you May I ask?
I don’t often wear heels
and prefer front tucked or tucked in tops and hip length blazers.
The loose trousers are not universally flattering. I’m 5’3” and 110. I look like sponge Bob square pants or short and dumpy in them.
Sorry Lauri your comment made me LOL in a good way not a nasty way :) "Sponge bob" - just wasn't expecting that :)
Yeah, I wish I could wear them. Naw they look like pajamas on me. Oh and bright colors - not with my hair, bummer.
I feel you. I'm short (5'2) and plus sized. I don't enjoy wearing anything that's too tight or too baggy. It's just not flattering on me.
Agreed! I'm short and plus sized. Being plus sized is not a problem, being short is... for a lot of reasons.
I live in Texas, and I NEVER wear cowboy boots... just saying.
1. Neutrals head to toe moving to pops of color with neutrals
Youre right. But, the eye adjusts. We are going from minimalism to maximalism, and thats always tricky.
@@martineshamzin7535 When this happens its just a way for the fashion industry to get the mainstream consumers to buy more clothes/accessories in order to "keep up" with fashion trends. Fashion trends come and go but style is timeless.

I’m short and wide trousers don’t look good on me. You need to consider all body types
I had way too much color and it was always a struggle getting ready. Now with the neutrals its so easy, it just flows. I do add color through bags, accessories, and makeup. 💖
I'm soft autumn and in vibrant colours I look ill. Neutrals make my eyes pop and my skin glows. I'll never switch to neons.
@@monikakowalczyk9837 I think neutrals can be a way to let more of you shine through. I personally never wear neons. But I do like colorful accessories, I think its an inexpensive way to add fun things to an outfit.
Color can look very cheap if not done well
I’m looking for some green pieces. May I ask where you purchased your sweater? I love it💚💚
I love that the wide, slouchy pants are trendy-I generally just wear what I like regardless of trends, but sometimes when a style isn't in fashion, it makes it hard to find, or if you do find it you have to spend a lot more on it. When it's trendy you have more options at more price points.
im glad u like them---they make me look like a fire hydrant. lol
I have spent my life being annoyed with the advice about incorporating slouchy trousers into my wardrobe because they are supposedly flattering on every figure. Nope. Petite women, short women, women with short legs, etc - we need tapered or above the ankle trim fit.
Oh good grief, no wonder many women feel inadequate. Just wear whatever you like, wear it with confidence and to hell what these influencers think.
Enjoy your videos but disagree on the slouchy pants. They are definitely not universally flattering. You have to be a size 0 to otherwise it accentuates stomach and hips which are not flattering on most women...JMO :)
😊
Wear what makes you feel

Several weeks ago, the Banana Republic "e-catalogue" arrived in my mailbox. BR presents cargos in the most luscious silhouettes. Exquisite details and glorious colors. They really know how to create "new again" cargo looks. There was an "Out of Africa" vibe similar to line in the mid "80s. (....and, "No", BR does not employ me and I am unfamiliar with no one associated with BR.) .
I must take a look at them - thanks for the reminder Marsha 👍🏼
I’ve been disappointed with Banana Republic’s latest collections. First there was a Safari line, I don’t know about you are I have no plans to go on a safari anytime soon. And now it’s a motorcycle inspired collection, again I don’t know what they’re thinking? I bought a pair of cargo pants from them last year but the fabric was all wrong.
I disagree… the slouchy trousers are just that, slouchy and messy looking. Only tall and slim bodies can get away with it.
Not even :( I’m tall and slim and just look like a bag of potatoe in them. Really depends on your body types and face/bone structure too…
But then skinny jeans can make somewhat a bit heavier look even heavier. Looser jeans make a heavier person look less heavy.
A tall or short thin person can wear almost anything - the reason models are normally thin.
Agreed!!!
@@ruthgrady2824 Skinny jeans make everyone's butt look bigger and emphasize the shape of the legs. If you've got a big butt and skinny legs, skinny jeans are your best friend.
I was just thinking that. I'm an hour glass. I'll just look like a homeless person. Lol. Flares or straight leg is what I'm going with
Pairing bright colors with mid-tone neutrals (think greys, browns, taupes, mushroomy colors) has been a total revelation and has allowed me to enjoy wearing my colorful pieces with much more effortlessness.
Ideal looks for mine. Uni campuses seeing lots of cowboy boots with midi skirts and tights 🥰
I never understand the fashion jumpsuits. They are probably just for photo shots or young people that have strong kidneys!😆
Aww thank you 😊
First off, that green sweater looks fantastic on you and your skin is glowing.
Isn’t she wearing a cardigan?

Great video but I do wonder how baggy trousers trailing along the ground can be considered sophisticated - an inch or two off would make such a difference IMO! As one in the UK thank you so much for mentioning the northern hemisphere
Oh gosh no they def don’t hit the ground - they just cover the front of your shoe 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

As a former member of the fashion industry who predicted trends for Federated Stores, I think you're on target and you share good examples to aid your followers in pulling together their particular looks. I'm so over the odious crop tops. Overdone. Some of us want the rest of the top.
I never liked 5hem. Leave something to the imagination. That's my motto.
@@marywilliams9858 I'm with you. 🤗
Thanks for sharing Kristie!
Thank you so much ..loved all these brightening tips about the trends!

Pairing bright colors with mid-tone neutrals looks amazing.......😁😍🥰
I agree!
It’s so difficult to find wide leg pants or jeans that are flattering on curvy plus size.
I think it’s time for me to do a video on this perhaps 🤔
Oh my God. So true.
Never giving up my jumpsuits!! Love them. Cargoes remind me of TV comedy dads.

It's so '90's... the jewel toned vibe. I like it too, but not for me this time around.

Yeah, short people and larger sizes. Not flattering at all.

You're 💯% right about fun, quirky graphics on men's T-shirts. My BFF gave me a few bags full of 🆕 & gently worn tops. So far, tend to knot the hem @ waist or tuck it in my bra for a similar effect. Been 🐔 about making alterations, but believe that🧵tailoring🪡is the way to go.
Saw a 💕 bootleg Hallmark romance movie on YT last night where the heroine's pregger sister wore a cropped & knotted blue chambray shirt (slightly baggy "snug" style length) over a white tank above her high bump. Her body-con t-shirt was tucked in a pretty petite patterned beige & white floral maxi skirt. Paired classic white sneakers w/it 💟. Do like denim shirts & 🔘 button down tops in general〰️ but they can add way too much bulk around my ➡️middle⬅️.
🤔Contemplating DIYing✂️one now.

I'm committed to my neutrals...
I'm in love with wide leg jeans and dress pants...and high waist pants.
I'm fairly on trend sometimes.
Oh interesting 🧐
Sooo happy the skinny jeans are on the way out. Flattering on so very few😁
The Kelly green looks so gorgeous on you. Love all of you style suggestions.
Thank you so much!
No trends...Wear whatever suits you and makes you feel good...dress yourself with the feminine atitude and you'll be always on trend😉🤗
I'm a little sad about neutrals & corset tops. I loved these styles. Hopefully they come back in soon!
Definitely still wear them if you love them 😊
Girls, don’t let people tell what to wear. Just wear what flatters you, a change in colour if it does make you a stand out but more than anything else create your own fashion and wear them as if you look like a million dollars.
Wow, bounced up this channel, so glad I did. I love your style. Where is this beautiful cardigan from?
I bought oversized high waist jeans yesterday....love them.
Howdy-ho Leonie!👋 You're looking lovely in your green sweater.
I can agree with all your suggestions, but never putting down the cowboy boots.🤠
Thanks Valorie and yes I was sure there would be a lot of lovely viewers like you with cowboy boots 👢👍🏼👏🏼😊
I'm so glad skinny jeans are finally leaving! I hate them, denim is a thick fabric that feels so tight in my calves, I'm not going to miss them. On the other hand I LOVE cargos, they are so versatile and comfy and the look good at any age.
Looking great in green
Thank you 💚
Vibrant colours and platforms are my favourite trends!
Yay 😁
I had a chunky sweater like yours in 1994.
I bought a lovely green shirt because of you! Looking forward to wearing it often. Thank you for the visuals.
Yay that’s so exciting! This is the first season I’ve worn green ever and I’m loving it. Let me know how you get in with wearing green Gillian - I’d love to know 💚
Wear whatever you want!
The end of skinny jeans made me quit jeans and trousers altogether. I live in skirts these days and it is so comfortable. I do not understand why I did not start earlier
I took 5 T-shirts to the tailor to be shortened so I can wear them just at my waistline instead to bunching up while tucked
You always have the best pictures of the style you're showing us.
Thanks so much Stephanie :)
Love your suggestions.....especially on bright colors.👍
Hello Leonie, Very Nice Fashion Trends. Thank You.
Thanks for watching Rose 😊
I love watching your videos, but I have to disagree with the recommendation to switch out boho for preppie...what? We old hippies will rock our crochet and embroidery forever, and wouldn't be caught dead in preppy styles🙀
I have never heard a jumpsuit called a boiler suit. Interesting!!!!
My goodness I think all the new trends are absolutely awful. I might work for teenagers but not for adult older women.
Love your green sweater😍
Thank you so much Paula :)
You can peel my skinny jeans off my cold, dead body. Never giving them up 😆
😮😂
I love those sandals. I saw a lady wearing them last year and they looked great! I'm sure they're very comfortable too 💗 I'll have to get some of those for sure
They would be so versatile 😁
So happy skinny legs are fading out. Love a t shirt pop of colour with some neutral tailored pants 😍
Agreed!
Bright colours look so nice on you
Thank you so much - I can’t believe it’s take over 50 years for me to wear them 🤦🏻♀️
Great video (as always)!
