I work at a coal power plant, seeing how much fuel we go through in just an hour is insane. What they're working so hard for really isn't much at all. I don't know what coal goes for in India but they need to figure out another hustle where heavy equipment isn't required to make anything worth a damn.
Coal for Indian power plants are usually imported or are from coal India (a company). Both of these do not use child labour. Coal collected like this used for other purposes like cooking or other small scale industries.
We too have those equipments you are talking about and we too have modern mining technologies infact we had developed many indigenous techniques like Robots for mining but these people were locals who use to take coal from coal fields illegally to sell it or use it as fuel for household

My grandfather was an engineer in these coal fields, he used to tell me how locals steal the coal. Approx every family manage to steal enough coal to earn a profit of approx 1500-2000 Rs daily.
That doesn't mean that we should start depleting all the resources of the country. They sell the coal to people who don't use the coal efficiently, while the government uses it to produce electricity, which decreases our import of coal and in turn our forex reserves are saved.

When I travelled trough India I noticed people working in inappropriate clothes and with no work safety measures. Also a lot of young children. The fact that the Indian government is a democracy is why we can even see these real life hardships faced by the people. In China, by contrast, the people have it just as bad but the government would NEVER allow a documentary film crew to go into Xinjiang or Tibet.
China never allows the film but they will not allow the bad. India gov allows the film but no action. This is the big difference. Some officers would be fired if this happened in China.

Even when I travel on road in Jharkhand every morning i see cycles and bikes carrying sacks of coal and coming back from mines
My grandfather was an engineer in these coal fields, he used to tell me how locals steal the coal.
Approx every family manage to steal enough coal to earn a profit of approx 1500-2000 Rs daily.
Shouldn't the locals own the resources rather than big corporations.

That doesn't mean that we should start depleting all the resources of the country.
They sell the coal to people who don't use the coal efficiently, while the government uses it to produce electricity, which decreases our import of coal and in turn our forex reserves are saved.
It's their land they are entitled to the resources,or the company should provide a work for the childrens and their parents,but India is a place of corruption caste and heartless,even their own citizens they don't care

When I travelled trough India I noticed people working in inappropriate clothes and with no work safety measures. Also a lot of young children. Hope the growth / improvement develops quicker than in the today developed countries, so children can be children and the suffering from work related sickness reduces.
