- Although this channel is typically about metal detecting Northern Colorado, Jeff and I recently took a trip to southern Illinois and met up with Matt Odom from @SkiSearcher .
Matt took us to several different homesteads, one of which was the site of a civil war encampment where soldiers ran drills. Although there were no major battles in the state of Illinois, it was wonderful to be able to recover at least one artifact from that era.
Please pardon the noise from the wind.

It was awesome to meet you guys and had a blast trying to save some history together. I hope our paths will cross again someday. Glad you liked the good ol Kentucky swamp water 😂. Happy hunting brothers!!
Thank you! Glad you were able to watch it. Looking forward to the next hunt together! 🤘
Gotta do that Goshen Trail ..
Neat finds. The Illinois tax token is actually 1.5 mills or mils, 10 mills in the cent. They start low, and gradually raise the tax rate, current 6.75 cents on the dollar in Illinois.
need to invest in a shotgun microphone for your camera, wind noise is a killer
I agree. Thank you for the suggestion.
comment hunt? pot leg? congrats
You could be right about the pot leg. Not sure why Matt finds so many of them.
Forgive me here, but did the civil war even have battles in Illinois?
No. There were no battles in Illinois. According to Matt's research on the first property, soldiers used to run drills there. Civil war era, but not from battle.
