As She Changes: Seeding People-Centric Transitions in India's Coal Belt

As part of the MacArthur Foundation supported project on Just Transition, TERI initiated a pilot implementation project to showcase the creation of sustainable livelihoods aimed at empowering women in India’s coal mining regions.
This video documentary titled 'As She Changes' takes one through the journey of the women across the four villages of Giridih, Jharkhand (Karharbari, Kongdi, Chilga and Tikodih) where TERI had conducted the pilot project focusing on fostering self-reliance through entrepreneurship. Recognizing that 90% of targeted communities depend on coal mines for their livelihood, the project sought to mitigate this dependency by equipping women with alternative skills and setting up of business enterprises.
