  • The Philippines have over 7,000 islands in 16 regions. It has a lot of different kinds of culture that some tribes still keep their cultural identity alive up to now.
Many of the tribes in the Philippines still live in their original ancestral land and practice traditions. Here are a few of the indigenous tribes that have kept the culture of the Filipinos.

Basically they stands out from any other ethnic group in the PH.
Imagine a minority & yet the only group in the PH that built something that is a UNESCO world heritage site(thousands of stonewalled rice terraces). And despite living in a mountainous region & yet producing/supplying a big percentage of vegetables/flowers in the lowlands, not to mention never been conquered💪it shows a civilization & identity of a progressive & ingenious group of people.🤠

There were people the same as The "Aeta" in Australia, small stature people lived behind present day "Cairns"(just do a pygmy of cairns search) and Tasmania. I believe some of the earlier Anthropologists that said there were 3 ways of origin people that arrived in Australia, but politics changed that theory in the 70's.

Maayad tunkay! Very good (in Higaonon Binukid)! My wife is a Higaonon tribeswoman, a Bae (a woman who can sit on a tribal council), and was trained by her maternal grandmother as a baylan (tribal shaman, herbalist, masseur and midwife). She was born in Baungon in the province of Bukidnon, Mindanao. She holds on to her tribal beliefs, and speaks the tribal language. The name Higaonon comes from the words in their language meaning "Mountain", "Living" and "People". Because she lives nowadays in Cagayan de Oro on the coast, she is classified as "Badjao Higaonon". This simply means "Living by the sea", rather than being ethnically Badjao as are the Sama Badjao.

I'm sorry but they are SUB-ANONS.Suba means RIVER to us bisayans. We have too much of tribes in the Philippines that I lost count. Some are still hiding in the caves untouched by civilized people but dunno if they kill if you find them. They have their own language.I remember there was a stranger interviewed in a local radio.Said he was stranded in their place went astray and could not find the way out out of the jungle.Tthey could not understand each other. It's already late in the afternoon. They were friendly though. He was ushered back to life finding the road.No way he can make it himself. He said he only found these people in the movie.😅😅😅

Subanons are not Visayans, not sure why are you basing their name from your language. Also, there are no tribes or ethnic groups hiding in caves, you're probably thinking of the Tasaday, but that itself is a hoax.

Your stating that Filipino are of mostly Austronesian descent is not only incorrect but does not fit with skin colors in all the Filipino Tribes but also the languages are all based on Polynesian alphabets and descent.
Their was a land bridge that stretched from India, through Malaysia then it curved up from Brunei underneath Mindanao and clear up to Manila long before Islam was even a religion. In fact all the tribes came from both Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan and India via the Cushite Race.
Hindu and some Islam came in 1535, then Spain in 1600's and these became mixed races in Manila and Cebu and parts of other Islands. And still later around 1845, Muslims came by Malaysia to Sulate up through Mindanao by boats.
However none of these mixed races affected the dominate Polynesian skin color, flat noses, wide face and or languages which stands as valid proof.
Other things that also prove Filipinos were Polynesians are their Spiritualistic practices.
    1. Having Birthing Stones in the family for generations for new pregnant mothers to have good omens and good luck.
    2. Animal sacrificed and dripping its blood as a good omen onto gardens, lands, rice fields, homes, cars and motorcycles for good luck.
    3. Burying coins jewelry or gold under the homes entry way(A Babylonian Tradition).
    4. Having persons walk over fire and smoke for healing and good luck omens.
    5. Eating of Bulod, Bulot, Gina-muse, Monkey and Canines all known Polynesian delicacies.

Don't create your falsely words. We don't accept nor believe it, so go away if you're just spreading false. Thanks to those Spaniards, Americans and Japanese invaders for erasing all Filipinos identity especially those area who doesn't know which tribe they belong and they become civilized people not knowing that they're all also part of the tribal groups and also thankful for there's still tribes left here. Shame to those colonizers, the truth shall come out in the future, who Filipinos really are!!

being polynesian is a subgrouping of being austronesian. Do not judge race relations from skin color either. For example, the Yamato people are the majority ethnic group of Japan, and they have quite varied skin tones, despite being one group. THe land brigde migration theory does not corroborate with austronesians' affinities for watercrafts and watertravel. Look up the out of Taiwan theory.
Additionally, Islam arrived in the Philippines in the 14th century and was quickly adopted an syncretized with local cultures. Before that, Hinduism had some presence since before even the 9th century, as evidenced by the Laguna Copperplate. I can link to more resources if you'd like, but please do not lecture us about our own culture. Simple google searches could rectify your claims.

We're austronesian not polynesian. We (austronesian) came from Formosa (modern Taiwan). Polynesian group is a subset of austronesian (which are now residing in the oceania).
