The investment required to be able to do this almost makes it pointless and you cannot take such in a store and use it. You could buy packs and look for the few good ones, but then you have to resell the ones that you just bought and perhaps take a loss on them. There is also all of the know how required to use one of these things and the software attached to it, so upon reflection, while it seemed ominous at first, this is not really a problem for investors long term unless one can get a CT scanner for may $1,000 and they are readily available to the general public.
I feel like if it becomes common to CT scan packs, Pokémon will put some type anti scanning insert inside the packs. Or add some type of metal in the foil 🤷🏻♂️
In my opinion all this does is introduce a new niche for collectors of graded sealed packs, ie someone may have a full artwork set of Fossil in PSA 10 however now they might say 'Well Gengar is my favourite pokemon so let me see if I can find a full artwork set of Fossil PSA 10 which have a Gengar Holo inside and create a new branch for their collection. Also if these could be used by auction houses and third-party sites then potentially vintage pack scams could decrease significantly. On the other hand for those who want to buy these packs to open them it does largely remove the suspense of not knowing what could be inside your pack, then again a very large majority of these packs are weighed and so the suspense of getting a holo or not would sort of already be removed anyway. Overall I think this has positive implications for collectors and think about that sometime in the fiuture technology may improve so that you have handheld CT scanners and so when a seller in person claims a pack is weighed heavy you can scan the pack there and then to determine whether they are lying to you or not and thus makes it much more tricky to scam people by sending packs that are not 'weighed heavy' even if they are sold as that. One last point would be that the CT scans should allow the actual pack to be imaged in detail and so you should be able to determine whether a pack is re-sealed by whether the original seal and glue are untouched or not which means re-sealing packs should be much more difficult and so much fewer people should be getting scammed with re-sealed packs and even potentiallly booster boxes as well. Really enjoyed your video and keep up the great work.
im new in pokemon collecting, spending over 2500$ in the first month. Thanks for sharing this video. i will personally not buy any more pokemon. Waste of time and money. Scammers paradise deluxe.
It always amazes me when people find ways to do things like this and then cant keep their mouth shut. Even if they are trying to bring awareness, they are inspiring way more people to figure out how to do these things. Its best to keep your mouth shut when you know how to gain an advantage or go to Pokemon and help them improve their product only.
How do we as collectors counter sellers and shops from scamming us with dead packs? Is there a way to detect if the product has extra radiation ? Is there a way to wash this trace off? Is there a method to counter the seller’s attempt to hide any traces of (hypothetically speaking ofc)
The technology is fascinating for me and I suppose the technology will not be readily available at all yet so the development should not negatively impact sealed packs too much.
The problem is it defeats the purpose of buying single packs from sellers, except if its maybe from Pokemon Center, as they could just keep the packs with hits for themselves. Sure, they can all start advertising that the packs they sell are unscanned, but how can you even verify they're not? Honestly, this could have a meaningful effect on every TCG, and could even complicate the value of singles, packs, cards, across the entire market. Am I the only one whose worried? My collection could half in value from something like this - everyone's could. Supply plus demand, yes, but if bad actors end up keeping many of the the packs with hits for themselves, it reduces the value of the packs, increases but then ultimately reduces the value of the singles as the packs and the demand as a whole gets compromised... its a weird feedback loop, isn't it?
There's nothing to worry about. First of all, this isn't a standard CT. It's a highly specialized piece of equipment that almost nobody will have access to. Doing a single scan on a single pack of cards would be an extremely laborious process requiring highly technical knowledge. A random person wouldn't be able to do this even if they had access to the scanner. It would also cost thousands upon thousands of dollars in power... and that's for ONE scan. It's completely uneconomical, even for the most expensive vintage packs.

This is really bad for Pokémon sealed collectors …. I don’t think this is a good thing
Interesting video, but if yo uthink it's a concern, don't do a video on it to bring it to the attention of many others?
i don't think it's a big concern i think it's the coolest thing ever
im new in pokemon collecting, spending over 2500$ in the first month. Thanks for sharing this video.
i will personally not buy any more pokemon. Waste of time and money. Scammers paradise deluxe.
$2500 in 1 month is brazy
It's not an invention CT scanners already existed...
Hmm. Im gunna look into this
No way that’s impossible
Probably got the idea from goldin company.
🤓☝ I WILL SCAN ALL THE PACKS AND RESELL THE DUDS
scanner go brrr
Weighing them is much easier
It's pover.
Lead code cards incoming
I have access to a CT scanner which I'm allowed to use after hours. If anyone's from London and wants to tag along, lmk.
@@MrPelletty wow, imagine every inventor always kept their mouth shut. we'd be still living in caves
@@dubudaebak this is not an invention, it is an exploit.
I do find this sad personally. Its not going to be the end of the hobby but it will make loose packs WAY more sus going forward.
if ppl weren't already extremely skeptical on loose packs they havent been paying attention
They can scan cases too. Just look at honestchu saga going on in Singapore
This tech if it becomes cheapp enough to use creates the market for lemons problem, which would collaspe the entire booster pack market.
Can pokemon just prevent this?
Difficult since it will only help future sets going forward.
Yip cool

@@sonofbuddhaTR @sonofbuddhaTR I've done it. I haven't been able to make any posts about it on Reddit though because the mods keep rejecting it
@@tienshinhan8189 and how did it go? Must be weird that the mods are keeping it under wraps
Honestly I don't want this technology to get in everyone's hands it's gonna ruin ripping packs
How do we as collectors counter sellers and shops from scamming us with dead packs? Is there a way to detect if the product has extra radiation ? Is there a way to wash this trace off? Is there a method to counter the seller’s attempt to hide any traces of (hypothetically speaking ofc)
I as a player, if you call yourself a pokemon card “investor” and you mad right now? HAHAHAHAHAHA
The technology is fascinating for me and I suppose the technology will not be readily available at all yet so the development should not negatively impact sealed packs too much.
Cheaters!
@@uthmanibn-jafar1159 Humanity has done far more complicated achievements. Wait and see chinese factories making these highly specialized machienes. Nothing is impossible.
Nah, I think it's bad for silled products. most people are going to just buy raw cards is all buy buy sealed and single packs. know more fun in that, but none the less cool invention
