  • VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Greetings all! In this video we have some New Jersey Transit action along the Morris & Essex lines at Brick Church station in East Orange, New Jersey. Brick Church station is one of two stations in the city of East Orange; the other station being named after the city it's located in and is 0.6 miles to the east of this station. Brick Church opened on November 19th, 1836 and was rebuilt in 1880 and again around 1921-1922. The station was electrified in 1930. Brick Church is served by the Morristown line everyday and the Gladstone branch on weekdays only. The Morristown line is a heavy rail route that is operated by New Jersey Transit that travels between New York City/Hoboken Terminal and Dover/Hackettstown. The Gladstone branch uses the Morris & Essex line between Hoboken Terminal and Summit and diverges west of Summit en route to Gladstone. Two westbound Gladstone Branch trains originate from New York Penn Station and one eastbound train terminates at New York Penn Station during rush hour. There are no direct services between Hoboken/New York and Gladstone on weekends. Passengers from NY wanting to travel to Gladstone would have to take a Morristown line train to Summit and transfer to the Gladstone shuttle. From Hoboken to Gladstone on weekends, take the Montclair shuttle to Broad Street, transfer to a Morristown line train to Summit and transfer once again to the Gladstone shuttle. Stations west of Dover are not served on weekends nor are there any public transportation alternatives to stations west of Dover whatsoever.
