Thank you for taking the time to show us the 3 Christmas turkeys. What awful Christmas window displays. Harrods, one big advertisement for Loro Piana, Harvey Nicks, terrible, and Selfridges, overdone, and too messy, as they say, less is more. I agree with you about Fortnums, their windows were true Christmas magic, I loved your video of theirs.
@DianasYTChannel: This seems to be the new trend. I live in NYC and the stores are doing the same thing. It’s all about advertising expensive brand names and very little to do with Christmas. And I’m not even talking the religious aspect of Christmas. I’m talking wreaths, Christmas trees, snowmen, etc. It’s just lacking. Very disappointing indeed.
Love the lights on the front of Harrods but not impressed by the windows, that doesn’t represent Xmas, it would have been better at another time. Harvey Nichols was interesting, sometimes it feels like they try too hard to be different. Selfridges was the best for me, lots of colour but still not on the mark. Thanks for sharing as always.
Harvey Nichols! Love the idea of Christmas trees with limbs (You could really take that concept into some fabulous fantasy and visuals. They didn't exploit that enough). But other than that element, the Burton ghoulish angle - eh. Wonderful skill and craft, though. Don't we love the *promise of all this celebration and light? THAT'S the magic, that's the lure. Thanks so much, Steve.
Hi🎄Very different kind of windows🤔My favorite is Harvey&Nichols. It is very stylish and red Christmas trees are beautiful💖. I would like to have red tree my home too. Selfridges has too much everything and Harrods was a big dissapointment. Thank you Steve☃️
I have to agree with you.... It's more like a bad dream Christmas..... There is not much to bring you in to shop if you have kids. I guess I'm old fashion,,, Christmas windows to bring that joy to everyone, not just the very rich ....
Harrods could have used any other time of year to celebrate their anniversary. I don’t subscribe to the windows needing to be totally Christmas themed but it should have more references than what they had. HN was more self-promotion but Selfridges was the best. I’m glad you shared this video for us to give our opinion.
I thought the lights looked amazing outside Harrods loved the coloured windows are there decorations around claridges and other hotels lovly video thankyou ❤️👍🏻😊
Hi Steve, thanks for the window videos, like you I'm rather dissapointed with Harrods, Harvey Nichols best feature are the red trees on the pavement a d the lighted entrance canopies. I was living in hope Selfridges would outdo them both but.... yeah nah disappointment continued on... designed teams are clever but not Christmassy windows.... children old and young all want to see father Christmas reindeer snowmen angles mangers elves etc. Maybe some of the other shops will do better... I'm a traditional Christmas person. Thanks for your fantastic commentary... keep up the humour.. merry Christmas to you and your family 🎅🤶🧑🎄🌲🌲
Absolutely nothing to do with Christmas. I think most people would hate what these stores are doing to erase Christianity. I've had trouble trying to find religious Christmas cards in the shops, so it's the same here in Australia, sadly.
Hello. I will try helping by answering. To be honest here in the UK we are not as a whole very religious. I don't know any Christians at all. One of my close friends is Catholic but not church going or talking about it. We are very multi cultural. So we have many different faiths who have their own religions which are not God and Jesus. There are still plenty of traditional Christian carol services for the Christmas period. And carol singers and church services. But we tend not to bring out this side in decorations as we respect other faiths and alot of us are Atheist or Agnostic. For myself I'm happy for whatever faith people follow. Hope this explains it. Have a lovely Christmas 💜
@@joatkins-linnell2413 The traditional English people are more religious than here in Australia. Why have Christmas if you do not believe in Christ. The clue is in the name, Christ's mass. It's to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, nothing else.
@@joanfreestone1707 in England and Wales the latest figures show Christianity has gone down to 46% from 59% in 2011. The stores aren't erasing Christianity. They're reflecting how the majority of us here feel. Yes I know the origins of the meaning of Christmas. But most of us nowdays celebrate it as a joyous celebration of our loved ones. And we love the tradition of Father Christmas. Especially when our children are young. I don't know what "traditional" people means. I don't believe in Christ. But I respect that you and others do. As I respect others believe in Allah. I went to a Church Of England primary school. I loved Christmas carols from then and still do. They weren't sung when our 14 and 19 year olds went to school. My 19 year old did play Joseph when he was little as we had nativity plays then. They've gradually been modernised. Our coyntry has changed alot. If you want to celebrate the birth of Christ you can. This video is simply showing the beautiful festive holiday season lights in our wonderful diverse capital city. I love it.
The exterior Christmas exhibit on Harrods store front was magnificent. That is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen!! I loved the moving pieces and the gorgeous Christmas theme displays. So for the window displays, I cannot say I am super impressed with any of them in the way of Christmas themes. Harrods was fabulous and they did totally top drawer displaying their history, manufacturing, and their merch. Beautiful. I was not really moved by Harvey Nichols or Selfridges. I enjoyed this! Wonderful time of the year. Q&A - do the English usually put up real Christmas trees or artificial trees? Do you do stockings as well?
So a mix of trees, some do artificial - some do real! Stockings is a good one as some do again but not in the same way you see in the movies in the US? Thanks Luana :)
@@LondonVisited I have always done stockings as my parents did as well. It is a special treat of goodies and gifts extra to the Christmas presents. I now give my two Greyhounds stockings to go with their Christmas presents - stockings are opened and enjoyed the night of Christmas Eve (I enjoy my Eggnog with rum while watching them), and then they open their Christmas presents Christmas morning (I am still enjoying that Eggnog with rum). I have nice stockings that are a decent size. Some of the online Christmas shops have beautiful ones to buy. Bless you. Steve and Jo.
@@Wisdom-Nuggets-Tid-Bitsbless you too. They are lucky greyhounds! I love greyhounds so elegant and gentle. We had a beautiful whippet when I was a teenager 💜
Rather under whelmed here! Last year was wonderful! Where’s the sparkle and over the top glitz? Selfridges clear winner, but rather disappointed with all! Thanks for the window shopping!
Harrods outside lights looked good, but the windows weren't Christmassy. Steve do you think there are all trying to go to modern with the decorations? Can't beat the classic look. What's the best window display you've seen this year? Selfridge's looked most festive of the three
Thanks for the tour but I honestly don’t like any of these windows, not really Christmas but to there stores Christmas is money not celebration. Many thanks xx🎄🎄🎄🎅🏼
Lovely video .harrods windows are very poor and nothing to do with Christmas. Tim burton ones were most vibrant. But none of the 3 had father Christmas in them very sad .
Only one I liked was Selfridges. But have to give credit to the designers etc of these windows. Look forward to Bond Street and of course Hamleys?? Thanks for doing all the footwork and your pleasant delivery style 🎄🎄
I've been watching different videos on Christmas markets and this is bottom of the list for Visiting am from up North and Winchester and Nottingham look the best so far.
In my opinion - kudos to all three - each one innovative and extremely clever designing. For the people moaning I say just you try and do better, you’d flounder at the first step.
Yes but these are some of the biggest shops in London - it’s all commercialisation for them. We can see “baby Jesus” in our local church displays at Christmas if that’s what we want, just don’t expect to see him on Oxford Street!
I can see why you didn't want to show them. The word for all of them is gaudy. Harrods is just boring with barely any acknowledgement of Christmas 🎄. Their outside is completely 🙄 over the top. There is just far too much up there. Harvey Nichols is just too much pink. It doesn't really look like Tim Burton except for the figures at the end. I am sure he would have done something more creative. Selfridge is more Christmassy. It's colorful. There is just too much stuff. They do have some nice color mixes especially the first window. They could have done it in shorter time if they hadn't tried too much. They did make the most effort to have a Christmas theme. All 3 designers should be put in a dark room for a while. They put work into it, there's no doubt but they are just totally wrong 😮
What are they thinking. Harrods is best, but not at all Christmassy. The others are Dr Seuss meets Halloween. Just creepy. Such a shame - this was the designers doing it for themselves, not the general public.

Well, those windows were different. I wouldn’t call them Christmas windows. Kind of odd really. Thanks for showing their unique styles.

Oh gosh. I wasn't a fan of any of these windows, though Selfridges was my favorite. I guess I'm too traditional to appreciate most of these.

Living in a smaller town in the US, I have to say Wow! I had never seen anything like these displays, Christmassy or not. Thanks for sharing.
What were Harrods thinking, those windows are NOT displaying family togetherness or goodwill or anything like Christmas. Once again money wins out.
I have to agree with you.... It's more like a bad dream Christmas..... There is not much to bring you in to shop if you have kids.

Harrod's is a bit boring, Harvey Nichols got colour but looks chaotic and Selfridges is creatively done!!!
1 day 22 hrs., we leave for the big L.
In my opinion - kudos to all three - each one innovative and extremely clever designing. For the people moaning I say just you try and do better, you’d flounder at the first step.
The so called moaners want to see father Christmas and snow with snowmen , baby jesus and the manger. Now that's a window display fit for Christmas.

Harrods - very beige. Nothing magical, like you say, not very Christmassy😢
Sorry don't like any of them .
Not Christmas at all.
What has happened to the UK
Same here in the US.
Harrods Christmas windows are very beige. Selfridges is a bit amateurish.
I like Harrods windows, very nice, I did not like the other 2 not my taste, has Christmas trees and decorations but very dramatic.😔
Shame on Harrods. Why is Christmas being erased from our culture? People look forward to those windows each year. Maybe Selfridges is better.
Harrod's windows should be boarded up and the place closed down after the al Fayed scandal! How on earth can anyone go in there? Boycott it!
