I have listened to a lot of Black Metal, and I have still not found any other album that conveys desperation, rage and pure agony like this album does.
All of Xasthur's work my friend. Bethlehem - Schatten Aus der Alexander welt is also another song that comes to my mind when talking about desperation rage and pure agony
Good thing a record like Dead as Dreams has gained a cult status through the years. It's quite something to say the least. The outro of this particular song is very impressive.
I need to stop ignoring the American scene, this is pretty much just what I was looking for. Some of the most powerful BM comes from here, must be something in the water. lol
@@joshuar3632 “You enjoy American black metal? Try this well‐known melodic death metal band from Sweden, or anything else from Sweden.” Wow dude, what a helpful and impressive response that was.
Whenever I’m on a ship I listen to this… I don’t know why it reminds me of the ocean at night.. it might be that abyss feeling it gives or the waves.. It always had a sea storm feeling to it. Wish It didn’t cost like 800€ on vinyl
@@Hexenpriester98 Love WITTR debut but tbh I feel like it wouldn't even exist without Dead As Dreams. They even ripped off one of the riffs from No One Can Be Called as a Man While He'll die on the first track.
i could swear their used to be really muffled high-end melodies on their album. Little chiptune sounding things hidden in the noise wall that I couldn't hear without headphones. Maybe I really was schizophrenic my whole life
lol im just saying the guy meant this is black metal from the states i never said it was something special although those vocals are sweet but none the less just clarifying my statement.
It's just raw black metal lad, nothing special about it (maybe a bit depressive and suicidal black in it but that's all). Don't think now I mean that in a negative sense, I just think that it does not necessarily need to stand in the subgenre where the music comes from and anyhow it wouldn't be an indicator if the music is good or not...
this is not just raw black metal, it's far more atmospheric, technically proficient, and is really quite a unique black metal album all around. i wouldn't even say it's all that raw. i know you didn't mean it in a negative way, and i love standard raw bm myself so i don't view it as a criticism, but this certainly isn't just some raw bm with nothing special about it. it stands out among the genre quite a bit.
This album has no actual lyrics, only maybe a few that you can make out. The rest is just incoherent rambling and screaming, the vocals speak the words not written

Pff, try Forgotten Woods, Luror, Austere and lots more. But yea, great album.
@morwen angelus i love sadness and panoption but i dont think any of them manage to create the same vibe that this album gives me. very few albums do.
Can’t agree more. This album just has “it”.

you either get it, or you don't.
All those years ago, these guys managed to make something pretty perfect.
That abrupt shift to that massive doomy riff in the second half is one of the heaviest things I've heard

6:22 A very intense riff
It’s like a depressive more sinister candlemass
Brilliant recap of the main riff from 0:00.
Awesome, unforgettable band.
Excellent,just excellent.Especially those Solos...

This is monumental.
One of the few American Black Metal bands I like such a great album. Pity they split up, put a lot of the bigger names to shame.

My favorite vocals, wish I could do that
Best outro of a song ever written.
This, and Negative Plane's first release!
Without any doubts - Best USBM album.
Wittr have done better with their debut in my opinion

Surely
100%
What about Fanisk?
6:20 that scream
This sounds very good

This is Incredible!🤘🏻🐆
Hell yea
Good stuff, doesn't matter the region /country or style. Just listenable stuff for the genre or ear.
@CynicalBastard I think I remember reading an interview with Gossard where he says it's about invading a country and burning their crops.
🤘🏻
Goddamn that fucking treble
fucking slaps

Melodic vacuum cleaner at it's finest.
I'm listening to it on its high cycle rn
Sick as fuck...

Daggum son.

Lance Binkley I sea what you did there.
this band's song titles confuse me
@Tyler and your own
I didn't mean it offensive, I'm just saying you hear all these different names and slowly it's just getting ridiculous ;-)

His vocals sound a bit like the guy from silencer only not complete shit. It is a little bit too long and boring though
how could you say you love the vocals? i do not understand a word. this isnt music
So what if you dont understand a word? Dont tell me you never liked a song thats not sang in your mother tongue...
It's easy: I treat vocals like guitars, and this one happens to be distorted
