"Not that many people die"... haha, I've used this pep talk myself prior to plenty of scary hikes! So happy for you Kathryn that you got your redemption hike... looks like it was totally worth it.
I love watching you both! You do such a great job at describing your adventures. Kathryn, I get a kick out of how you always apologize to your Mom when you do scary stuff. As a Mom myself I get nervous for you! You both are so brave! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. I hope you will consider coming to Minnesota sometime. :)
Hahaha both my mom and I are a bit of worriers and I love giving her little shoutouts 🥰 We would love to visit Minnesota! I was supposed to go there for work this year, but then COVID happened 😔
No need for a vase for your lavender bouquet. Just hang it upside down and let it dry. Your van will smell great. Thanks for all the adventures. We love watching.
Wonderful video as always :) I taught Outdoor Education for 26 years and helped children face their fears on ropes courses and climbing walls. I was always impressed with those who were afraid, knew what they were getting into and still pushed on. Proud of you both for the redemption aspect of this adventure. I can see me using this video to teach my daughters about perseverance and the rewards of conquering the things that stand in our way
Thank you so much Jymn! Coming from someone who did outdoor education, this means a lot! I’m so happy I pushed through the fear. Definitely always want to be cautious, but it’s good to get out of your comfort zone a bit!
When Kathryn leaned against that tree going up, I couldn’t help but laugh and think she was such a mood lol. Proud of you both for doing that hike and thank you for the great vlog!

I would never do that but so glad you did so I could see that AWESOME view!! Wow! Love Lake Crescent! Thanks again guys for taking me along. : )
Lake Crescent is just gorgeous! We love the peninsula so so much! If we could get decent enough cell service at campgrounds to work there, we would've stayed for a long time!
Ugh! That loose gravel and sand would be the death of me. I'd want to cry for sure. I'm amazed by people who do it without a hiking pole, once I started using one, I can't go back. Obviously you'd have to hold on to the rope there though. I did one in Colorado recently where I thought I was going to fall down multiple times and I'd be a goner. Good job! That view!!
Very nice guys. Walking through those kinds of trails are is tiring but somehow satisfying because of the nature. I can't imagine how beautiful being in lavender farm and I bet it smells amazing too. I'm jealous.

I enjoyed your video. I've seen many pics of Mt. Storm King, but your video (most importantly the ropes) really put this into perspective. The view is amazing!

You did so well with that hike! You're definitely not "just a wimp". I'm terrified of heights and things like that and you've just achieved it! Bet those views made it worth while. Super inspiring ❤️
When I went to hike up Storm King, There was a family taking a picture in-front of the trailhead sign at 3:35 so of course I unknowingly walked right past it. I then hiked all the way up Marymere falls then came back down and went on a DIFFERENT trail that took me up the river. I crossed several bridges before heading back then I finally found the sign and went up. Somehow I managed to get to the ropes right after the group I was meeting did. The hike was a great time.
Love being outdoor. I wish that I had access to this video earlier. Just came back from Washington and had a hard time deciding between Mt Rainier or Olympic. Ended up going to Mt Rainier and it was a blast. Will visit Olympic next time following your itinerary. Great vlog as aways!

This area is so beautiful! I have family from this area. We hiked almost to the top of Storm King in 2008. We wore tennis shoes and didnt bring water. So silly and we haven't hiked it again. Have you two done Pyramid Peak? We go to Lake Crescent every year and my husband actually proposed to me on the beach in January. You two are so much fun to watch!
It's a tough hike! Good call on turning around! We haven't done pyramid peak, but will have to look into that one for next time! What an epic spot to get engaged...the views from that lake are amazing!

Aw thanks y’all! This makes us so happy to hear! Backpacking is incredible. It’s something I would have NEVER thought I would do 5 years ago, but I love it now!
Good for both of you to do that hike!! I don't like the feeling when the ground moves under your feet,it's really scary. I do like lavender, it's fragrance is supposed to be relaxing, which is probably what you needed after your adventure! If you let it dry , you can tuck into cupboards and drawers to keep your things smelling pretty. Unfortunately our Australia and New Zealand trip is cancelled due to the pandemic, oh well maybe nexted year 😊 Looking forward to seeing your nexted adventure!!!! Greetings from Southern Ontario 😷🍁
I 1000% sniffed that lavender hard to give me some relaxation vibes lol! So sorry to hear about your trip-those are two places that will definitely be worth the wait!
I hiked Mount Storm King last week and the entire climb, I kept thinking about how you guys ended up hiking it twice in one day 😂 I was actually surprised at how steep it was and I was not having a good time until I got to the ropes. I didn’t think it was too scary going up the ropes, but going down wasn’t as easy (I may have slipped a few times 🤣). We also went to the lavender farm and enjoyed it, so thank you for that recommendation as well!
Wow my palms were sweating watching you go up using the ropes, the ropes looked very dodgy. I'm definitely not able to do that knife edge scrambling, makes me too dizzy. Well done!
Just so you guys know you can always do free dispersed camping on USFS roads for up to 14 days. Even with all the full campgrounds on the peninsula (which is common for the time you guys went) there are plenty of miles of forest service with lots of places to park, camp.
We did that the night before in the Hoh Rainforest area, but even that was super crowded and almost all of the spots were taken and our cell service was too low to research lots of spots 😔 But that’s our preferred way to camp!
Adventures of A plus K awesome! I so appreciate and love your content. Just an FYI for all of your cross country adventures look up and really study the difference between national park signage and national forest signage. Then know that when you see signs saying you’re entering national forest that you’re safe to go explore the gravel roads and camp most anywhere! Even when you don’t have service. Olympic national park is surrounded by Olympic national forest in patches and going south from the Hoh you pass many great forest service roads totally off the beaten path with great free spots. Worked on that forest and lived at lake Quinault for many years 😉 pro tip that translates to other national forests in other states!
I knew that hike name sounded familiar! About a decade ago the family hiked Marymere Falls (which was great) but I was super curious about that other, ominous-sounding hike right there. Totally need to do this next time!
The more difficult the hike the more rewarding it is at the end. Think how rare it is to look at the view at the top. I always find the down climb the hardest. That's when you are mostly likely to injure your self.
I did Mt. Storm King a few weeks ago and I loved your analysis, especially feeling like I needed to conquer it. The ropes were quite scary in the wind. I made it to the top, but was too nervous to stand up on the rock as it was getting dark and slippery.
I been there last week Ruby beach, tree of life, Rialto beach, beach 4 Kalaloch and yesterday I went Mt Rainier I almost lost. I walked almost 10 miles lucky I get out the treet before the sun go down. That's so scare never try a difficult trail like that in my life again
Going up that rope section isn't what would worry me, it would be doing the going down part! I fully understand why you've never wanted to hike Angel's Landing (Zion) Kathryn... though Adam you'd probably love it! The colours when you got to the top were stunning - was this conquered first thing in the morning or late in the day? If you guys had to choose a favourite, do you prefer Olympic or Mt. Rainier in WA? Totally with you both on wanting to visit NZ, it's been very high on my list for years but it doesn't bode well with school holidays in the northern hemisphere. Don't blame you guys for wanting to relax and take some time off, I still have a lot of admiration for you both over how you juggle everything (especially with so few vacation days)... and as I've been MIA myself, I've not even noticed! ❤️
Caroline! Been hoping you are doing okay! There is a reason we did not film the way down haha. I struggled a lot at the end of it 😅😬. Definitely why I did not want to do Angel’s Landing! This was super early in the AM! We started around 5:45 AM and made it to the top probably around 7 something. I think we both agree Olympic is our favorite solely because of the diversity. It’s really hard to beat how majestic Rainier is, but as a whole, we love the diversity of the peninsula.
Thanks and thanks for watching! We do! Take a look at our guide and itinerary for North Cascades! adventuresofaplusk.com/a-weekend-in-the-north-cascades I hope that helps!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Thank you. This was very helpful. You guys have been an inspiration behind us creating our own YT channel. Hope to see more such fun videos on your channel.
We’re in OR making our way N to WA where we’ll hit all 3 NP’s. We found your Olympic vids helpful and have interest in climbing both Ellinor and Storm King. Would those rank as your 2 favorite mountain hikes in the NP area or are there others you’d recommend? Thanks and keep on sharing 😊.
Did you experience a lot of Covid closures? Your videos have inspired me to plan a day trip/long weekend up to the Olympic peninsula, but I'm nervous after seeing a lot of "closed" notifications online!
Hi Kaylie! For this specific trip we didn’t! But there are definitely some spots closed on the peninsula, specifically anything on Indian reservations. But these stops, plus Ruby Beach, the Hoh rainforest, and Hurricane Ridge (some other favorites) are all open!
Hey guys! I leave in Washington and I love it! I've been visiting this places too, but I haven't been in Mount storm king can you please tell me how long it took you the round trip from the park to the top?
I stumbled across your video while doing my research on Mount Storm King and I'm glad I did! You guys are adorable. Did you go on a weekday? Was it pretty crowded? I'm like Kathryn I'm definitely nervous about the rope sections from what I've read and heard, but would love to give this trail a go.
Hi Anana! We went on a Sunday morning, but super early and didn’t encounter many people at all. But it does get busy later in the day, which would make the ropes section extra tough. As long as you go slow, you’ll be okay, but it was pretty scary for me haha
You mentioned the "petting farm" odor when you first installed the Havelock wool - did that smell go away? Thanks and blessings! I am about to do a Ford Transit conversion for my wife and I. Getting some good ideas and what not to do! : )
Adventures of A plus K Thanks for your quick response. We have a 6x8 fiberglass Runaway RangeRunner camper trailer. We just finished a little over two week camping trip across Colorado and now we are back home in Indiana. I have an F150 that I never use as a truck, so I have decided to do a transit conversion. We are going to keep it simple because it will not be a full-time style for us. We will keep the bedroom full-time in our little camper, and in the transit we will have a kitchen maybe a small bathroom, and a workspace that can double as an extra bedroom area for grandkids if they come with us. I’m doing lots of research and I’m glad I ran across your channel and I’m enjoying it. Be safe and blessings!
@@AdventuresofAplusK I am a retired elementary music teacher and we have 14 grandkids . . . so far, so a full-time "van life" is not for us - we love our home! : ) However, some of those grandchildren are out West, so our travels can include them sometimes. It will be great not to have to mess with bed making up and down every day. I will be doing my own van build series on my channel as well. Be safe.
Wow 14?! That sounds like a ton of fun! And van life is a great way to see family and friends. We have seen people so much more since hitting the road a year ago!
I’m from Washington and one of my favorite spots on the Olympic peninsula is the Olympic game farm. Have you guys ever check it out? If not, it’s definitely a place to come back for.
There are so many other things to enjoy and explore. Goodness gracious is that the rope, forget it,boy you guys must be desparate to try this, may Jesus keep you protected and your angels too!!!!!!!! Not happening, not for me!!!! See you when you go down mountain,be safe and blessed!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah that’s an issue we have sometimes. 😔 We’re really sorry about that! The mic is just really good I guess haha. We will be more mindful of that in the future!
You mention you work fulltime on the road. Curious how you make that happen? Wife and I would like to try and work remote but scared of finding service.
Hi! I have a corporate job (100% remote company) that I work from the van and it can be tricky, but we just stick to cities during the week to ensure we have cell service and use our AT&T and Verizon hot spots (we have 90GB of data for those) and haven’t had any issues! Pre-COVID it was a lot easier since we could go into libraries and coffee shops, but we have made it work so far without that. The downside is we work from random parking lots a lot since the beautiful spots tend to have no service. We’re currently working at a park right now though in a city with some nice views, so it’s not all bad!
Adventures of A plus K Awesome. Thanks for the quick response. We have 30 gb each through Verizon and AT&T. We are both working remote during Covid so would love to see more of the great NW especially Idaho and Montana. We live in Oregon so we’ve seen a lot of OR and WA. Safe travels.

Unfortunately our Australia and New Zealand trip is cancelled due to the pandemic, oh well maybe nexted year 😊
Looking forward to seeing your nexted adventure!!!!
We still cannot believe that we did that either haha! It is a tough hike! Glad you made it to the top and survived the slick hike down!
Wow my palms were sweating watching you go up using the ropes, the ropes looked very dodgy. I'm definitely not able to do that knife edge scrambling, makes me too dizzy. Well done!
They were very sketchy! I feel like this video doesn’t do it justice, but we had to keep the camera away for the scariest parts. 😖
Good job getting up Storm King Kathryn. Probably best that mom didn't know in advance or she would have been worried sick.
Oh yes she would have! 😂
It has such an ominous name! And for good reason!
Beautiful........!
One of our favorite places!
The more difficult the hike the more rewarding it is at the end. Think how rare it is to look at the view at the top. I always find the down climb the hardest. That's when you are mostly likely to injure your self.
Both ways terrified me! Worth it for the view though!
So happy you got your redemption Hike Kathryn!!! I probably won’t be doing this seems pretty scary put cool!
It’s terrifying lol! But really rewarding at the top!
Haha that hike looks really scary you are braver than I
Definitely not for those afraid of heights! Which I sort of am 😅😅
@@AdventuresofAplusK phew, yeah I would have been like NOPE hahaha, send the drone up
Lol! 🤣🤣
I did Mt. Storm King a few weeks ago and I loved your analysis, especially feeling like I needed to conquer it. The ropes were quite scary in the wind. I made it to the top, but was too nervous to stand up on the rock as it was getting dark and slippery.
Good call to play it safe!
That is so scary, we’re glad to hear you got out okay!
you guys tackled your fear in climbing mount storm king
We sure did! Felt so good!
Well done. What type of boots do you guys hike with? Manufacture…
Thanks Rik! I wear Lowa boots and Adam wears Altra trail runners. Both are great!
Way to go gal your no wimp..... 😊👍
Hahaha slowly becoming braver! 💪🏼💪🏼
Thanks for sharing. Love watching you guys. Do you have any recommendations for beautiful hikes in North cascades NP? We are looking to spend 2 days.
Thanks and thanks for watching!
We do! Take a look at our guide and itinerary for North Cascades! adventuresofaplusk.com/a-weekend-in-the-north-cascades
I hope that helps!
Hi! Those are definitely our favorite! But we haven’t done a ton of major hikes there to be honest. But both are incredible!
“You always remember your first”. 👀
Hahaha glad someone caught that...I couldn’t edit it out 🤣
The lavender farm is really pretty! But idk if I’d be able to walk through it with all the bees 😳😳lol
Oh gosh the bees! 🐝 I HATE bees and it was really scary haha
Are you allowed to buy parachutes for these hikes in case of emergencies?
Better safe than sorry, you did not fail, some hikes are better not to do!!!!
We agree and we always will stop if we feel uncomfortable or not safe when doing something
Hey guys! I leave in Washington and I love it! I've been visiting this places too, but I haven't been in Mount storm king can you please tell me how long it took you the round trip from the park to the top?
Hi Aracely! It took us about 4 hours round trip with the waterfall 😃
Awesome thank you so much! Have a safe trip, and please post more adventures!
Of course! And we will! 😃
If you are ever in New England again.. Go to Aroma Joe’s and get their Iced Green Tea with Blueberry, Lavender and Shimmer👌🏻
Sounds delicious!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Thank you for the reply Kathryn. I wish you guys the best, +1 subscriber from me ;)
Of course, happy to try to help! Have a great hike! 🤗
best place to view lk crescent is at the lodge
That's a great spot!
Thanks for putting safety before filming.
Always! No shot is worth injuring ourselves...or worse!
You mentioned the "petting farm" odor when you first installed the Havelock wool - did that smell go away? Thanks and blessings! I am about to do a Ford Transit conversion for my wife and I. Getting some good ideas and what not to do! : )
It does! It got a LOT fainter over time and we cannot smell it at all with walls up! Good luck on your build!
Oooo that’s so cool!!! That’s awesome that y’all can take advantage of having two different spaces so you don’t have to cram everything into one!
Home ❤️
❤️❤️❤️
I’m from Washington and one of my favorite spots on the Olympic peninsula is the Olympic game farm. Have you guys ever check it out? If not, it’s definitely a place to come back for.
We haven’t! We will have to check that out next time!
What frame rate do you guys typically shoot/edit in? (Imitation is the greatest form of flattery 😜)
We typically shoot 24fps in 4K! We really want to shoot higher fps for slow motion shots, but they just don’t turn out as crisp on our camera.
Okay thanks! We’ve been shooting the Canon at 29.97 and editing in that frame... at just realized the GoPro is in 24 🤷🏻♂️🎥🙄
Ugh we know that struggle! Our drone and GoPro would always be different and we finally have them all aligned (I think haha)
I give a like for the amazing video. And I give a sub for the EMINEM line.
Hahahaha 😂😂😂 Rapping is one of my favorite things to do!
Hi Guys
Where are you headed next
We are heading east towards Glacier!
Am i only scared of that forest?
Forests can be scary!
Were you attacked by the little birds at the top? Holy smoke
Thankfully no! But we hear they love to try to steal people's food!
It was a really fun hike! Very glad we tried it again 😃
🖒🖒🙌🙌
🏔🏔🏔
I had to turn the sound off while you ate your ice cream. may I suggest not to hold the mic so close while you are eating.
Yeah that’s an issue we have sometimes. 😔 We’re really sorry about that! The mic is just really good I guess haha. We will be more mindful of that in the future!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Live and learn right? You guys do such a great job, the adventures you share are amazing!
Always learning and trying to improve!
Adventures of A plus K I didn’t notice it, I could get not get past the beautiful scenery. Good job on the vlog!!!😘
Thanks Diana! ❤️
Take your time rushing is not enjoyable.
you lost me at "I haven't seen Lord of the Rings."
Darn, almost had ya til the end!
Awesome. The Hobbit house is super cool.
Definitely want to go back and go inside!
Ah nice! Y’all shouldddd be good then!
