people like to berate popular things just for the sheer fact that they get more attention. also, superman is depicted of having a very "holier than thou" attitude, and hardly applies any resemblance of intelligence to his fighting; it's just brute force and hope for the best. personally, i wished he would put more effort into his aspirations, even if they're as broad and ambiguous as "protect earth and the human race". for starters, realize that a rural north american education is not enough to compete with the universe.

Kyle Rainer as White Lantern. Also Kyle during the brief time that he had the power of the entire Green Lantern Corps and the power of the entity of will Ion. That story line was appropriately called "The right hand of God". During which he was so strong that while sitting in a meeting with the rest of the Justice League about an alien armada, he dealt with them by sending a clone to said armada and took the entire thing to #Slamtown. He then spoke up and told the team that the armada was no longer a threat, much to everyone's confusion. In the end he was convinced to return the power by the one and only man of steel by saying that "we can't live their lives for them only try and protect them". Basically he was scared that he was going to be too strong to deal with so Superman did his best Batman impersonation.
Next we have the Phantom Stranger who for the longest time just had any power that was needed to fix the situation. Recently it was reconed that he is Judas Iscariot, yeah that one who done did that whole thing about selling out Jesus and was cursed by a magical council to wander the Earth until he pays for his crimes....comics are stupid sometimes. He also gets his orders now from a dog who as it turns out is God's way of speaking to the Stranger....comics are stupid. That also brings up my next character though...
God. That's right the G, O single D is actually a character in modern DC comics who frequently likes to pop in for a chat about the weather or how he still believes in humanity. Side note did I mention that he does this all while disguised as a dog...dog, God do ya get it? Now they tend to not go full on religious by calling him the Presence which is short for the Presence of God but they ain't fooling nobody. Oh and if you were wondering what kind of dog usually a Yorkie.
Now I can't mention the last guy without bringing up the Spectre who just so happens to have the job of Gods Spirit of Vengeance. On more than one occasion the Spectre has used his near immeasurable powers to pull two converging realities apart. Now if that sounds more mental than if should just remember it was the 70's and 80's where the comic writers said 'rules, we don't need no stinking rules'. Even now with his powers dialed back everyone avoids him like the plague. So much so that consummate hard ass John Constantine nearly peed on himself when realizing that the Spectre was near.
Are there more? Of course there are but my point here is that while Superman was once the alpha and omega for superheroes that era is no more.

Why is everything a dick-measuring contest when it comes to superheroes, especially Superman? Plain and simple, it's up to the writer who can beat who. They could have Black Widow beat Galactus if they wanted. Could have Green Arrow take down Doctor Fate if they wanted. For sure, if the writer wanted, Superman could beat every one of these guys with a simple slap. Enough, already...

My favorite animated series with him is his namesake show and JLU. My favourite animated film with him is Superman: Unbound. Lastly, my favorite live-action iteration of him is the DCEU version with Henry Cavill.

Wade Trillson thay comic book is shit, sentry unleashing the power of a million suns and only a block of flats gets rekt. That's why we rarely see supes unleashing his true power, he would destroy the earth.
It's still somewhat comic book valid. Planet busters fight in the Dragonball world all the time. They release blast that could reduce any planet to rubble all the time. But, they are careful to control the range of those blasts. Most of them need a planet for the atmosphere. For example, Frieza and Buu destroy planets left and right because they don't need to breath.
So, Sentry could control those blasts to keep from destroying the planet just like Superman has to do. World-Breaker Hulk is not so skilled given that rage and adrenaline fuel his power. Plus, the power of a million Suns is comic book exaggerations. How does anyone even measure such a feat?
I'm no expert on comics but I believe the Sentry pulled himself back during that battle against an all-out Hulk, and it was still a draw. So the Sentry is probably tougher than Hulk.
Brad Smith they probably measure it in the energy output that our sun can provides each second times a million. Also dragon Ball universe fighting is a lot different that marvel and DC. In marvel a DC you have people like Tony using physics and then you claim that sentry unleashed the power of a million sun and there was only that small of a distraction, also about the exaggerated facts I agree but even unleashing the power our sun kicks puts out in a single second concentrated on such a small area would obliterate anything if not the planet.

He was basically the first super hero who could do amazing meta-human feats (build things at a faster rate, destroy things with simply a punch, punch a hole/have a cartoony body hole thru a train, break the laws of physics all the time along with time and space to jump in the real world to help a kid who was reading his comic to help). And he’s not even a meta-human or even relies on his spinach all the time. He was Superman before Superman, probably even more so.

Yeah because Superman has NEVER fought against anyone more powerful than him and won, because he's a complete dummy who can't think on his feet at all. Supreme is the only one on this list I REALLY believe Supes would have trouble with due to his adaptation abilities, but considering he was able to face Doomsday time and time again, I think he could manage.

There are hundreds of characters which are more powerful than Superman. Any reality-warper or high-end magic users can defeat Superman. And anyone with the power to create or alter matter can create mountains of kryptonite. For that matter, almost any telepathic character can also take out Superman. When you realize the list of people who can kick the shit out of Superman includes everyone from Alley Kat Abra (Zoo Crew) to Mr. Mind (a sentient _worm_ from Fawcett Comics), you realize it's not exactly an exclusive club.
Superman actually has telepathic shilds, so anyone with telepathic power would get rekt.

1.Spawn:He could beat the sh*t out of superman, because superman is UNABLE TO KILL HIM CUZ HE DOESN'T HAVE A DIVINE WEAPON. Also, Spawn has magic.
2.Beta Ray Bill:In my opinion, is stronger than thor, because he was able to beat thor WITHOUT STORMBREAKER, so imagine if someone as strong as thor got the powers of thor on top of their own. He could even harm Galactus.
3.Lobo:In the past Lobo has tossed superman around like a ragdoll, and heaven nor hell will accept Lobo, so even if you killed him, he would just come back later.
4.The Doctor:He could disorientate superman, since he was able to do so to normal people with the sonic screwdriver, and superman has hearing so sensitive he can hear and distinguish hundreds of millions of noises, so if the Doctor were to do this, superman would have bleeding ears in seconds. He can also teleport throughout space and time, throw people into blackholes, regenerate up to twelve times, and even destroy an entire universe.
5.Radiant:He is living energy, was able to destroy a quarter of a planet with one attack, and even kill doomsday without dying at the same time, unlike superman.

Not only survived, he didn't get injured from it and he could kill super man in one punch because (as stated in the comic) Saitama's powers actually don't have limits. He broke those limits that define how far one's power can go. In other words, Saitama could even destroy the whole planet in one punch if he so wished.

Were talking about the Great Tribunal, Specter, The Beyonder, Trigon, and many many more. That this list I wrote only contains DC/Marvel characters I'm sure there are many more that could be added if including Indy titles like B.P.R.D.
