    Hope you'll see this:
    Been watching your videos for a while, and just wanted to thank you for your effort and dedication in making them!
    I'm a med student in germany and just passed my first big exam that we have to take here (somewhat equivalent to the USMLE1). Your videos were immensely helpful in revising a whole range of topics in a relaxed way the evening before an exam or a lab day. Thanks so much!

    I just want to take time and say thank you for your great and valuable lectures I used to completely rely on your lectures because I couldn’t understand anything from my professor and I graduated last year as top student in my class thanks to your help
    You inspired me to be like you when I become professor .. you’re truly a great teacher 🌸❤️

    I watched your lectures as a pre-med and I now I am watching them again as a medical student. Glad you kept up with your passion of teaching even while going through the rigors of medical school yourself. I hope you continue to teach throughout your residency and well into practice wherever you may end up. Maybe even teaching for a medical school one day? Cheers, AK, and congrats on residency!

    RIP Kobe. Your mamba mentality is also useful in school. Anytime I took a test, I had that mentality and clutched the exam. AK lectures helped me with the knowledge but Kobe gave me the mentality. RIP Kobe the legend.

    Hey there, would you be willing to turn on community contributions for captions? The auto-captions are surprisingly good, but they slip up on occasion. Sometimes I watch with the auto-captions and think about whether providing captions would help me study whilst allowing your videos to be more accessible to a wider audience ☺

    Is ammonia produced during oxidative deamination or anmonium ion? Your previous video had ammonium ion . Does ammonium transform into ammonia since it is unstable.

    Does the body also use Alanine to transport Ammonia to the liver? (Via the glutamate pyruvate transaminase enzyme)

    • @828uko
      @828uko 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alanine is used to transport nitrogen from muscles to liver during fasting periods when muscle proteins are degradated to get endogenous energy from body proteins. It also helps to maintain glucose levels in the blood because pyruvate (transamination product of alanine) is used to produce glucose in liver in process called gluconeogenesis. Whole cycle is called glocose -alanine cycle. In the liver, nitrogen from alanine is transported to 2-oxoglutarate to produce glutamate. Next step is oxidative deamination of glutamate. In general, every alpha-nitrogen atom from almost every amino acid is incorporated to glutamate during amino acid catabolism. Glutamate is convergence point of catabolism of nitrogen. Without oxidative deamination, there would be no sense in endless reversibile transamination reactions. Glutamate (and oxidative deamination) is solution to labyrinth of transamination reactions.

      @MyMinecrafter97 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@828uko Yeah, i got the "point" of converting all Amino acids to glutamate to get rid of nitrogen so it can get converted to urea. I was just confused to how the alanine transport of nitrogen played into this.

    man, your videos are really good but a serious problem is the cover image showing the whiteboard full of written stuff. It's such a dread that I purposefully ignored your videos for so long. pls write lesser stuff on the board if you don't want to scare away kids like me.
